The Revopoint mini is a structured blue light 3D scanner, will it be enough to help me reverse engineer this gearbox to repair my beloved fan?

Would you be doing another video on this subject on how you pick your settings for your scanner. also how you imported it into fusion and what tools in fusion you used?

Brilliant I have the pop2 scanner and I am interested in more details as to how you combine the scans and use them in fusion 360 as that sort of thing is beyond me at the moment.

6 minute video. What was your total time IRL to get this done? How many scans and time adjusting, cropping, fusing ect? And how much time in CAD (which you are skilled at obviously) to remake this part. I find so many videos that make this look easy, like anyone can do it. Point, scan, print., this is not true. I am glad you showed some steps in CAD to make this part usable. There is a whole skill set that has to accompany the 3d scanner. Currently 3d scanning is like early photography, you needed to completely set up a camera, pick exposure, film, lighting, focus, then develop pics in your own dark room as opposed to the ads tha show it's like a point and shoot phone camera that does everything for you...

$800 is a lot - I would love to see a comparison to using something free like meshroom.

It's pretty good, but still too much manual work behind the scenes to make it a success.

Revopint POP and POP2 are way cheaper, but are not that good with Details as the Mini.

Yikes ... When will this type of technology become more accessible and affordable. Current CDN$1600 is quite a steep price. I'll have to defer to reverse engineering with a pair of calipers and recreate in CAD

Some of the photogrammetry packages are good although not as quick as a scanner, but for the odd job they are more than adequate.

Don’t forget the power of taking photos and importing into fusion with the correct scale. Can make getting the general structure so much easier.
