Usually the deposits are 2 times the rent.. at max 3 times. 40k is INSANE! As for apt. 3, I love it.. maybe the loft could be used as a sleeping room.. with a mattress.. that way you can separate the personal space with work and general space..
In Korea not so much, I’ve seen korean apartment tour videos were even higher deposits were mentioned (and they weren’t like multi-rooms apartments, just normal ones). It all depends from the aparment’s size and type, its position, how much rent per month you wanna pay (the higher the deposit the lower your monthly rent will be)….and the city you’re gonna stay - Seoul is one of the most expensive cities in the world.
@@LucienSabreSeoul still is pretty cheap to live in for a nice and decent apartment, Seoul isn’t one of the most expensive cities that’s actually gangnam 😉
i liked apartment 4 and 8 the best especially bc how spacious they seemed! I am really eager to know which unit/apartment u choose in the end tho especially since u considered taking the last one. ALSO UR HAIR SOOOOO PRETTY 💙 also will we be able to see how u furnish ur apartment?
i didn't end up choosing any of the ones shown in the video BUT i will be filming moving content and decorating soon when it is time for me to move into the unit🤩
40,000 U.S dollar deposit for a space as small as a shoebox?? 😭😭😭 At least you can get the deposit back when you leave but putting that much upfront for such a small space is crazy
it's my first time seeing your video and I am so interested in your story now! I think i am going to watch all of them lol. I am also planning on moving to korea for a year during my gap year and go to yonsei summer school! I am looking to places also in 충무로 too 잠실 was also good but they are so far awayyy. Are you like a exchange student to korea?
I am earning my bachelors at Yonsei! I would recommend looking for a place on Subway Line 2 since it is much more convenient to get to school+ most of the popular areas to visit are located on it🤩 충무로 is on Line 3 and you would have to take multiple trains to get to Yonsei✨ A gap year in Korea sounds so fun!!
Hi!! I'm trying to rent an apartment for Fall of 2023 since I'm studying abroad for one semester. How early do you think I should start contacting a realter if I want the lease to start in end of Aug? Also, do you know if these places will allow for shorter leases (4 months?) tysm!!
hi! i would say about contacting them 1-2 months (i contacted them with a little more time from my desired move in date because i really wanted to make sure i had enough time) is best since too early means that there aren't that many listings up yet! most people look for houses july/aug and jan/feb i believe since those are the months right before the school semester starts, so it becomes a first come first serve race haha. as for short term, a lot of places will not allow about four months(because landlords do not like going through the contract process over and over) but there are specific listings from time to time that welcome even two month leases! i think it does take a lot of combing through to really find some okay ones tho
I will be moving to seoul in the next 2-3 months for my UG degree and I will be living in the dorms for the 1st semester but I want to move to an apartment in the 2nd semester so I was wondering if you could recommend me some realtors or apps through which I can apartment hunt when I reach Seoul. I don't have a problem with the commute so I will probably looking for way cheaper options outside of seoul.
Hey, if you are not getting apartment 2, can you let me know what building it is? I’m looking for a place in these districts Yeongdeungpo-gu, Mapo/Hongdae, Jung-gu, Yongsan areas.
Hi! I'm so sorry but I don't have the exact name/location since it has been so long:( That apartment is 99% not available anymore as they get signed SUPER quick so starting your search 1-2 months before might be best!!
i dont know the exact reason but a lot of the times it is so that you can get a lower monthly rent amount! there seem to be a lot of specialized loan programs here that make depositing that kind of amount safer but for me i still didnt feel comfortable doing that>
sure! the rent is what you pay every month and the security deposit is what you pay upfront at the beginning-- you do have to pay both but you get the deposit back in full after your contract is over
@@homebodyhannah Hello! this is probably a stupid question but I don't know much about renting apartments or stuff like that, but when you say "you get the deposit back in full after your contract is over", is that when you move out? And what if you want to renew the contract?
im actually not apartment hunting anymore so for the time being i will not be going around to visit units! however, the 40k deposit place was on the higher side-- there are lots of places that have much lower amounts ☺️
i primarily used the app zigbang to see the available units in my area+ naver also has a great realtor function so i'd look on there too! i didn't hire one specific agency but instead contacted a lot of individual realtor agents who were in charge of the apartments i was interested in☺️
@@homebodyhannah thank u sm for your answer !!! Zigbang app is only available with a Korean numéro right ? I didn’t know Naver had this feature ! So I found your realtor on naver and contact them one by one ?
im actually not sure about zigbang but naver is really nice too! there's also an app called dabang but im not sure if that one requires a phone number... i found the realtor in charge for each apartment and called/texted them to see if i could go see the unit in person🤩
Hi. I love apartment 3 and I'm actually currently searching for an apartment studio/loft in Seoul near Yonsei. Most of the apartments I see on apps are usually old and expensive. I love how all the apartments you showed are new. May I know who was the Real Estate Agent you contacted especially for Apartment 3? Really be a big help!! 🫶🏼
Hi and thank you so much for your kind words! Unfortunately I do not have the exact contact anymore as I contacted over 20 people during my search>< I would recommend going through multiple apps like zigbang, dabang, and naver☺️ Plus, when you meet an agent, they will also take you to other listings in the area if you are interested. Good luck on your search!!
I liked apartment 3 and 9. Yes, to crawl to change is not ideal, however I really like these loft spaces!
the loft spaces definitely are super nice! but im currently living in one so i think i am ready for a change too hehe

I think apartment #3 was the best, and it has a lot of storage room!
$40K deposit??! That’s crazy! Most videos I see are $5-15K 😳😳
yea! i can't imagine going through with that because it's so much😖
That one did have TV and internet included. So maybe itd be worth it to someone with a wad of cash😂

what the hell are those 40k deposit prices??? thats insane for a studio..

yes i agree its so crazy!! most people have to take out loans which i dont think is a good option >
#3 apaartment is really the best one
With your budget, #3 was not bad at all.
i liked most of the ones i saw! i think it was just a matter of the small details when it came to making a decision:))

I mean, in which neighborhood and apartment complex?

I liked the one with the stairs

Hongdae and shinchon area expensive. Cause so many universities and workers. Good location though😂😂🎉🎉

hi yes i did! i also used naver:)
The deposit is so high!! How do you pay for it
i believe most people take out a loan (banks have special rates since deposits are so common here) or save up!
Can you please explain about the rent and security deposit, I mean you have to pay both or just you can choose between them.
