I am more impressed by this record than by the 574.8km/h record. the 515.3 was shot better and also classical music at 4:30 (Chostakovitch's 5th symphony) makes it even more epic.
I started listening to Shostakovich (and, consequently, to classical music in general)just over a year ago thanks to this film and your reply. Thank you, 343kaka.
I'm neither bitter nor jealous. I'm French, I'm (somewhat) proud of these records and am really fond of trains. You can't however claim this is not part of industrial/political maneuvre planned during the Mitterand's years.
I honestly don't know much about France's politics, but if the Mitterand's plan you were talking about was to make France look cool as f*ck he definitely succeeded with this one. Cheers from Italy
yes but...what about the more rigid suspensions, the inferior coaches number, the higher electric tension (30 kV instead of 25 kV), the larger size of the wheels, the modified transmission gears? I have great respect about the unbelieavable record-performances of the TGV (none else realized such a great result) but this wasn't a "serial" or "common" TGV.
@@alexrm82 Yes true it wasn't a normal TGV, but I mean, we don't need to go that fast with regular one. Maybe we can't do it with a regular TGV, but neither can others, and we actually did it anyway
@@svis6888 Of course. What i just mean is, that people saying "TGV can go at over 500 km/h" are not exact, because that was a heavily modified TGV trainset. For instance, Frecciarossa 1000 (one of the italian high speed trains) can reach 400 km/h without being modified, so the real performances of the trains must be sized in their real dimension
@@alexrm82 true, regular ones can't go that fast, also because of the infrastructure. Maybe regular ones can go to 400, but we'll never know because the infrastructure is limited at 320 (and also because we never tried and don't care)
This is propaganda! They say the trainset is an ordinary one, but that's definelty false...look, it only has 4 cars instead of 10. OK, the record is great, but they feeded the catenary with 29kV instead of 25kV, wheels were slightly bigger...some say the motor were more powerful, ok this is a tgv design, but not so standard finally. What would really be great would be a real standard 10 or more cars set running at safely at 450kmh

Wow goodness knows what those wheels and the Pantograph were going through when the record was set on the 18th of May 1990 and for 17 years it held.
TGV & FRANCE ; Number Öne..✌️.

4.31 brilliant shot from the helicopter. the TGV Atlantique is a great looking train.

tho TGV conception started under De Gaulle's years, and yes we should thank Miterrand for allowing this record.

Mitterand was the best president we ever had.
This is amazing!! I am so glad I found this!!
Haha j'adore =)
next record was 574.8 km/h
-TGV&FRANCE:Number ONE.! Bravo, SNCF/ALSTHOM.
Record largement dépassé aujourd'hui... 574,8km/h
@MrKawataka
It's Schostakovich's fifth symhpony.
Oh, your welcome! Very nice to hear! :)
The other comment was a reply to someone here claiming that the video is speeded up, in fact, it isn't.
