- The Supreme Court on Friday struck down a Trump-era ban on bump stocks, a gun accessory that allows semi-automatic weapons to fire rapidly like machine guns and was used in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
The high court found 6-3 the Trump administration did not follow federal law when it reversed course and banned bump stocks after a gunman in Las Vegas attacked a country music festival with assault rifles in 2017. He fired more than 1,000 rounds in the crowd in 11 minutes, leaving 60 people dead and injuring hundreds more.

Incorrect description of bump stock. It takes multiple trigger cycles to fire. It is just a way of making each trigger pull faster. Nothing at all on the weapon has been modified.
Only the stock has been changed to allow bumping.

Inslee has no idea why they made this decision. Those who brought the case said it turned a gun into a machine gun - and that is false. They simply brought a defeated claim.

Falsehood or mistake? The Vegas shooter possessed bumpstocks, but didn't use them in that incident.
Bump stocks are not machine guns. They don't make multiple rounds fire with on trigger pull.
They are a forced reset device. They make the trigger reset faster, and if the shooter keeps pressure on the trigger during the forced reset, it will trigger again. It is still a separate action that doesn't meet the federal definiton of a machine gun ... which by the way, are NOT banned, just restricted to pre-existing ones in the civilian, market, unconstitutionally restricted via chicanery in the way the original case was presented to SCOTUS after the plaintiff was deceased.

*Those* are what law enforcement is rightly focused on, not bump stocks. The ban-overturn is a nothing burger.

It's necessary precisely because you're asking that question.
The federal definition of a machine gun is any weapon that shoots automatically more than one shot without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger. By definition a bump stock is not a machine gun therefore the ATF cannot regulate it. they can't just redefine what it is to be a machine gun when congress has already defined what is a machine gun and it's not necessary it's fun and its constitutionally legal just like flamethrowers and tanks or did you not know that you as a citizen can own those too.
Okay, what is the purpose of you writing a comment on UA-cam? Why is it necessary? I'm sure you could live without it. but maybe some believe it is a civil right. Bump stocks shouldn't be denied by poorly written non-legislative actions by a government agency that doesn't have the authority to do such a ban.

If the Supreme Court says it is legal and no state is allowed to impose its own ban on it read your Constitution
Sorry to say it but state legislatures do have that authority unless they are voted out of office and a new legislature is voted in that can change the previous enacted law. Bump stock bans in Washington state will live on forever in this state.
