@@electronicsNmore yes ! That would be great to try some other ones. I’ve always wanted to try Ariel, it smells so good. Cheer would be another good one and I can’t find it down here but when I lived in South Dakota, one of the grocery stores carry powdered Oxydol and that is hands-down my all-time favorite . Smells the freshest ever and really gets your whites white and your brights bright. I think it actually has optical enhancers in it
Great video. Just wanted to ask why did you not include either Aldi, Save A Lot, or Wal Mart generic detergents in your review? I use the Save A Lot Power Cycle in the orange bottle and it is the same as Tide and it even smells and cleans like it. I pay $7.00 for 64 loads. The reason why the All worked better was because it had oxi clean in it. None of the other detergents used had color safe bleach or oxi clean added to the detergent that is why the All worked better. I have found that by using the Wal Mart Great Value Color Safe Bleach and adding half a cap to each load clothes come out smelling better and are spotless if used with a pre treatment for stains. I have seen a few reviews for Aldi's Tandil products but no one has reviewed Power Cycle by Save A Lot. For Stain removal find a old copy of Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook from the 50's -70's most have wonderful stain removal tips. Another good book is Butter in the Well it has so many great tips. But please be reasonable some of us are bargain shoppers and are on a budget and may use generic detergents let's see if they perform as well as their name brand counterparts. But please get the same kind of detergent not oxi added for one and different types for the other like the Free and Clear for Arm and Hammer. Please use some common sense next time. As for Gain the Dollar Tree bottle requires less detergent then a regular bottle of the same brand so you may not have been using the right amount or were you checking out the amounts form Gain and Proctor and Gamble's website? I am more then interested in seeing new reviews and as I said I would love to see someone review some of the generics and name brands and see how they measure up side by side.
I personally dont think it was quite a fair test for arm and hammer considering you used a "sensitive" brand of it when none of the others were. I've found arm and hammer works best for me. If I have any oil I take a spray bottle of dawn mixed with water and spray it before I throw it in. Nothing cleans up grease/oil better. Just put vinegar in for "softner" to make sure it all washes out. Any other stains I soak in biz which is a better version of oxiclean. Just throw it in a bucket with some biz and forget about it for 4-24hours then wash normally
I actually agree with you Anna, the regular version or the Oxiclean edition of Arm and Hammer should've been used here for a more fair comparison. Nevertheless good video man.
I always look at liquid detergent as soap for normal clothes (without stains) and with stains more like dishwashing soap little for normal stuff and more for harder-to-remove stains.
The one thing that you did not mention is the (all) brand had OxiClean in it which would make it perform better not all of (all) brand laundry soap has OxiClean in it you can get arm & Hammer with OxiClean in it as well just saying good video though nice work very helpful

Interesting. Is powdered different from liquid? I've been buying HE environmentally friendly or "organic" liquid detergents for a few years now, but they don't seem to attack tough stains. I may have to switch to one of these mass market brands. Wondering if the issue is that they're "environmentally safe" and less toxic, or that I'm using liquid instead of powder.
Yes people use way too much laundry detergent! If it's good quality detergent you only need about 2 tablespoons. I use Persil and always get spotless laundry.
I’m a guy who buys exclusively American brands to help support American jobs. I would pay the extra money if it meant helping domestic workers. Of the five, I would use Arm & Hammer because they are the best American brand from a company called Church & Dwight based out of New Jersey. All and Purex are brands made by the Henkel Company. Henkel has a North American wing, but the parent company is German. Tide and Gain are from Proctor & Gamble based out of Cincinnati, but I hate their recent ads they posted for their other brands like Gillette; so I avoid them.
More detergent does not mean more clean. Most modern washers will not produce more water to dilute excess detergent. Laundry detergent has a tendency to leave residue behind and become less effective when you use too much for the load size or soil level!
Based on my tests and experience over the past almost 50 years, more detergent does help remove stains. The only problem is, you have a harder time rinsing out the detergent. For this demonstration I used what each manufacturer said to use based on load size.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Be sure to rate thumbs up, subscribe, and share my channel with many others. Videos like this aren't worth all the time I put into them if only 2-3 thousand people watch them. Thank you

I recall a Gain commercial in which the woman did the same thing to the man in the commercial. 😂 Those smell scientists really know what they’re doing. Better than cologne.
You save money on cologne, but you have to buy something else that actually clean your clothing....
Any plans to do this with laundry detergent sheets? I'd love to see that because you did this video really well with all the details and controls properly done. I'm over the liquid detergents, though and want to change to the sheets. Super Great video though, helpful for deciding what detergent to use for removing poison oak oil. Thank you!
love that your lid doesn't lock... mine locks and I have to turn it off to open it - can't rinse anything under the running water
You can bypass that switch. :-) Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore yea for sure, you mean disable the power to the lock? would require a bit of will
I really want to recreate this experiment myself to find out but include powders and pods
Lestoil is great for getting out difficult stains. Thanks for the video!
You're welcome! Please share with family and friends Steve. Thank you
Im a gain guy, i work at an office, and do not get many stains on my clothes. If I do, i put shout or oxi clean on them. Most of the time gain gets the stains out fine. Also, they have the BEST scent, I recommend moonlight breeze.
Gain does very good. Thanks for watching!
To my senses, Gain is one of the most irritating and pungent smelling detergents on the market. It will actually make me sick if I have to smell it for very long. No other detergents affect me that way.
Yes, some people are very sensitive to certain detergents. I'm the same way if I stand next to a person wearing a strong perfume. Thanks for watching Arthur! Be sure to rate thumbs up, check out my other videos, subscribe, and most importantly share my channel with many others.
This is the highest quality review I've seen. Great job 👍Subscribed.

I like how careful you are to ensure each is done exactly the same, but just do it as you're explaining it. This video could've been more concise.
For dirty grease and oil stains hot water makes a huge difference. Try it. The brand of detergent doesn't really matter much.
As stated in the video, that's what the washing machine used for all tests, HOT WATER. Thanks for watching!
actually, it matters alot.
I’m working on tested out some detergent myself, how were you able to make the grass stain? Was it to simply but grass and let it soak in water for a while or did you do something else?
Love the video. Only question I have is why did you use Arm & Hammer Free and clear as opposed to the regular version?
To my understanding, the only difference between the two, is one has dyes and perfume. Thanks for watching! Be sure to rate thumbs up and share.
This was an awesome experiment. Thanks for doing this!

Great job thank you for all the details and time you put for this very informative video. 👍🙂
My pleasure!
Thank you for the video. At some point it got boring, but at least you set up controls in your test so it is fair for all the brands.
You can always swatch the video at a faster speed.
Wish you would tried Persil too. I have friends who swear it cleans better than anything else
Very thorough and a great experiment. Thank you
And you have a bomb older washing machine ... new machines dont agitate ..good experiment.
I'm not a fan of newer washing machines.
Ok I read some comments it's tide for me. Gain is overrated. Thank you.
Would you be able to compare Persil and Tide?
Maybe in the future, thanks for the suggestion.

I wonder how cheaper detergents like Foca, Roma, and Ariel hold up
I may do another video in the future. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore yes ! That would be great to try some other ones. I’ve always wanted to try Ariel, it smells so good. When I go to the store I always grab a bag and sniff it, especially the one with added Downey! Cheer would be another good one and I can’t find it down here but when I lived in South Dakota, one of the grocery stores carry powdered Oxydol and that is hands-down my all-time favorite . Smells the freshest ever and really gets your whites white and your brights bright. I think it actually has optical enhancers in it
@@TT-cj3ek ariel with Downy is the best! Foca is next best. Never tried Roma. Those powders clean amazing!
I am more then interested in seeing new reviews and as I said I would love to see someone review some of the generics and name brands and see how they measure up side by side.
very thorough and scientific thanks a lot!
Tide is the best out of all of these detergents. Pyrex is really good as well. Adding bleach to white clothing helps a lot.
It was a very fair test, they were all treated the same way. Same water temp, same scrubbing strokes, same waiting time, and pressure.
I actually agree with you Anna, the regular version or the Oxiclean edition of Arm and Hammer should've been used here for a more fair comparison. Nevertheless good video man.
I already live the arm and hammer sensitive skin, fresh scent detergent
Thank you Sir.
@@TisaHinton-w3o You're welcome!
Tide did a good job, but I think it was the one you put the most 🤔🤔
Can you add the Costco Kirkland brand to this test?
Thank you so much this really helps!

Can you test home made laundy soap vs store bought
If you can could you do this test with new detergents like tide impossible stains pods or tide 10x heavy duty or persil or newer versions of Purex like the crystals
I may make another if the views ramp up. Thanks for the recommendation!
electronicsNmore Thanks for the response I hope this video gets more views because it was well done and I enjoyed it!
Maybe should do a video on , how much detergent to use on a wash load.
Can you do a comparison between powdered detergents?
Hi Bailee. In the future I may, but unfortunately not enough people have shared this video. This should've done VERY well, but at this point it was a waste of time. I put a lot of time and effort into making quality videos for people, and without substantial views, I don't get compensated for all my hard work. Thanks for watching! :-)
@@electronicsNmore is it really just about compensation with you ? How many zillion people on UA-cam make videos for the enjoyment of it and actually helping others !
All original works really good...
I like ALL and Tide. Thanks fro watching!
Nice that you copy "project farm" style which some of us see you comment on it. ;) You should do more of these types of videos.
I learned from the best. :-) I've been wanting to do a test like this for years. I only did 2 other product comparison tests on my channel in the past, I may do a few more later on.
Liquid is easier to spot treat with before washing. Thanks for watching!
Have you tried Zote works great on stains
Did I miss it but did you use hot or cold water? I would guess that hot water would have helped but not sure.
Room temp/Warm water. Thanks for watching!

Yes people use way too much laundry detergent! If it's good quality detergent you only need about 2 tablespoons. I use Persil and always get spotless laundry.
Can you do a comparison with the new ecostrips
I’m a guy who buys exclusively American brands to help support American jobs. I would pay the extra money if it meant helping domestic workers. Of the five, I would use Arm & Hammer because they are the best American brand from a company called Church & Dwight based out of New Jersey. All and Purex are brands made by the Henkel Company. Henkel has a North American wing, but the parent company is German. Tide and Gain are from Proctor & Gamble based out of Cincinnati, but I hate their recent ads they posted for their other brands like Gillette; so I avoid them.
Agree 100% with what you said about Gillette ads. They've been drinking the "Cuckoo" Kool-Aid.
Cleaning effectiveness depends on time, temperature, agitation, and concentration of cleaning agents.
Correct, I was very careful to follow those guidelines.

electronicsNmore sure will, and no problem!😊
More detergent does not mean more clean. Most modern washers will not produce more water to dilute excess detergent. Laundry detergent has a tendency to leave residue behind and become less effective when you use too much for the load size or soil level!
Based on my tests and experience over the past almost 50 years, more detergent does help remove stains. The only problem is, you have a harder time rinsing out the detergent. For this demonstration I used what each manufacturer said to use based on load size.
None of those are full loads, they're very small loads, so wouldn't you only need like half that amount of detergent in the machine?
I like gain surf
Gain has a very nice fragrance.
arm&hammer w/oxy fresh scent made my house smell like poverty
Is there anyone who uses or is a fan of the all laundry detergent?
Could you possibly make a video using oxygenated products (biz,clorox,oxyclean...)
They literally say NOT to use more detergent because it takes more water and energy to get the soap out.
Always use more when clothing is heavily soiled. As a mechanic I learned that 20 years ago.
It’s not that we don’t like the video is that it takes too long to get to the point
DOES HE JUST PUT THEM ALL IN TOGETHER IN THE SAME MACHINE????

None of them work well so might as well use the cheapest one.

@@electronicsNmore They're all still stained. There is only a slight difference in how ruined all of the T-shirts are.
If one removed more stains than the other, why would you buy cheaper? Makes no sense.
@@electronicsNmore If they all failed to remove the stain, why would you waste your money on the most expensive? Makes no sense. Clearly there was an insignificant difference in performance and a big difference in price.
