My late husband was a chemical engineer for P&G many moons ago and he believed Tide was worth the price. And yes, cut the suggested amount by at least half and it's still effective as well as very affordable. Less rinsing too. While convenient, pods and sheets use a petroleum (read plastic) binder that is not good for the environment or your clothes. Packaging is an issue for detergents and there is no easy answer. I appreciate you figuring out which brands give us the best "bang for our buck"!
Fabulous information, Carolyn. Thanks! I climbed aboard the Tide Train as well, largely because it is so versatile (a little Tide in warm water is a great way to clean your car, for instance). I agree about the pods, but for a different reason. The pods are designed to deliver the maximum amount of product that can (usually) be rinsed out; NOT the minimum amount necessary to clean the laundry. I wait for specials (my local market has a senior's discount day) and then 'stack coupons' and pay with a cash-back credit card. I typically get 20% to 25% off, which helps justify the higher cost, in my mind. It comes out about the same as the Purex.
@@lindacgrace2973 Yes! I feel like I couldn’t make an already long video longer by starting a lecture about coupons, but playing the coupon/cash back game is definitely the way to go if you really want the Tide at a more budget price.
Hi Hillary. I just stumbled on your video and watched the whole thing! I'm 75 years old and love to do laundry . Hard to believe, I know. (I think I was a Washerwoman in another life) I'd just like to make some comments, if you don't mind. My mother used ALL detergent as long as I can remember. Also, she tried something that came out in the 60s called Cold Power. As a young homemaker and mother I used ALL, Purex and Dreft. Not too long ago I started using Persil (pronounced pear-ZEEL . It's German). I loved it especially the smell. Then I educated myself on all the chemicals in commercial detergents and how bad they are not only for the environment, but also humans. So now I'm using more "green" eco friendly ones. And I have to say they just don't clean well. I have to pretreat every stain, but I don't make really dirty laundry anymore. Oh,,and I also use OxyClean in every load - an added expense. I really enjoyed watching your experiment.
You are AMAZING! YOU ARE PROOF MOMMY'S NEED TO BE EDUCATED! Your vocabulary and educated fact/science/math processes are spot on! Thank you for your time, effort & GREAT information! God Bless you & your's🙏
I was actually using LA's Totally Awesome until my mom came over one day and asked why it smelled like dirty laundry in my house and there was no dirty laundry. I was so embarrassed. The Dollar Tree stuff doesn't actually work on stains, but I was using stain lifter sprays figuring at least the detergent would get the funk and the dirt out, and it wasn't. I figure that most of the national brands are probably a lot better than this. But the gold standard is always Tide and Persil. Unfortunately, I have a rather serious allergy to their original formulas, so I've moved to Tide Free and Clear for my laundry. Same cleaning power, just no dyes and fragrances that might get in there and make you itch.
Love Purex! Only issue for me isn’t that it doesn’t seem to be the most potent and that great Mountain Breeze scent fades so quickly. Like Persil, too. The Costco Kirkland kind seems like a very powerful product but the smell was too much for me. Might try the Sam’s Club Member’s Mark kind to see if I can get the same performance with a nicer scent.
Awesome thank you for the video and time into testing! I used to use the blue purex you have religiously and while i was happy with it i got curious and grabbed some Tide 10x hygenic clean, and now I became a Tide dad. $18 for detergent (94 loads) i used to think was expensive cause its just detergent but I dont need to buy it as often as the shampoo and conditioner i use which cost more over time. Lol

Wow! That works out to about $0.04/load, which is cheaper even than Xtra. Great find! No, I’ve never heard of soap nuts before, but that sounds so cool. Thanks for the tip.
I like Tide Liquid. Yes it costs more but definitely worth it and I wash in cold water and because it is so concentrated I only use two tablespoons per load. Never have had a problem getting stains out.
This is a great video and so informative! I think the reason why the Kirkland laundry soap is so wonderful is because the same company that makes Percil also makes that product
Glad to hear someone else isn't fond of the smell of Gain, lol. My nephew even has that smell in his car. I remember using Purex a long time ago. Unfortunately, I have two huge containers of an off-brand to work my way through, which could easily take a couple years, even though I'm not fond of the smell of either one. It's just old retired lady me with my older clothes and household goods, and I don't make too many stains. I may hit the Dollar Tree for a small container of Tide to see if my older dish towels and rags might brighten up a bit.
Great episode ma'am 🥳🥳🥳🥳 Although I'm not doing the family laundry 🧺 I am washing hundreds of greasy nasty oily soaked shop rags in a very old square tub Maytag wringer washer. From your fabulous detergent evaluation I have been using the best laundry detergent, Tide plus a half cup of Awesome degreaser solution. It removes most of all the nasty sludge and motor grease from my shop rags. Of course it's not going to break down and remove all the rubber silicone sealant stuck on . I was spending 💰 dollars on disposable shop towels and needed to cut back so now I've been washing my own shop rags. 😊... It sure makes a difference.
@@Homegrown_Hillary What's more incredible is the short clip of the baby you had strapped on the front of you while you were sorting laundry 😉🧺. Sooooooooooooooo cute 🥰 . Our youngest Granddaughter of 3 says she's pawpaw's team worker LoL 🤣. I wished I had one of those little baby totes when our youngest Granddaughter was a baby. I could have had her with me on the tractors and working in the shop . She would have loved it. Today she'll set up at the work bench helping pawpaw fix stuff and definitely rides on the tractor with me.. LoL Then she's with pawpaw when we feed the chickens as she's naming them. LOL 😆 These little one's are so precious 💕 ..
The trend is moving away from Scented products which is why most companies are making unscented versions of all their products. A lot of chemicals can be hidden behind the label ‘fragrance’ which are known hormone disrupters, and a lot of scented products like candles and shampoos are addictive. Developing bodies are most vulnerable.
@josmith2002: I now notice that ALL only makes Free&Clear liquids and pods. I noticed that in my local grocery stores. The only detergent maker to do this . Purex Free & Clear cleans Really great. ALL FREE & CLEAR is very popular with consumers here
I used Purex years ago to save money. It didn't get my clothes clean and they didn't smell fresh. I switched to Tide and was much better satisfied with how clean and fresh my laundry was. Great video. Thanks for doing this experiment. I know it had to be expensive and time consuming.
Thank you for doing this comparison. Henkel makes purex and persil. I love both of their products when on budget I get purex when we can as a family of five I buy persil especially with coupons from dollar general. They are both great laundry detergents made from the same manufacturer.
My grandma uses gain, I always liked how it cleaned, but never really how it smelled, I used ALL for a while and did notice a slight difference on how it cleans. My mom uses Xtra, I have to say it is the worst detergent I have ever used. My favorite is Tide.
A washing machine repairman once told me that If you can see bubbles in a front loader, you've used too much soap. That extra soap will clog up parts of the machine till it needs to be serviced. Good for repairmen; bad for machines and their owners.
I'm quoting you as a source in my book "The Encyclopedia of Frugality," in the chapter about saving money on domestic management entitled, "Mission Impossible." Fabulous info, thanks Hillary.
I JUST discovered you, & I LOVE ya, girl! I am a UA-cam junkie!😅 Thanx for this thorough experiment! I use non toxic detergents, due to the overabundance of toxins & contaminants in our water(our entire earth!) that we are leaving behind for our children to clean up!🙄 But I always hear that Tide wins these kinds of challenges! Now, if only Tide made non toxic laundry sheets with the same effectiveness as their pods!🤔
Well thank you! I hear ya on the environmental concerns…I wonder if you only had one kind of fabric in your wardrobe (cotton, linen, etc) you could really dial in a laundry routine that was better for the environment? Like the complexity of manufactured fabric makes laundry so difficult, only these high-powered stain-fighters work? I wonder…
I'd like to add that pods and sheets contain microplastics. These go into the ocean and eventually we eat them if we eat fish! I use a detergent called Truly Free. You get packets of concentrate and ONE plastic bottle to refill. Works OK, but then I don't have really dirty laundry.
Glad to hear you actually used the amount of the detergent directed on the bottle. So many people complain that detergents don't work but use one teaspoon of detergent for a large load. 🙄
Agreed so many times!!! Yet to find a sheet that gets out stains, Tide tackles it all, we discovered Persil in UK years ago and it smells AMAZING and is nearly as good as Tide with stains. Such a good job!!
Back in the day , oh here I go dating my age lol.. I used cloth diapers for my little one and I remember using good old Cheer... I have never had a better detergent than that one since. I think it would be compared to the Purex.
Thank you for doing this…I think you gave an honest review of the cleaning power, scent and cost. I’ve been a Tide person forever (Im 60, so yeah, forever! 😂) and have tried others but I still go back to Tide. I do like the Downey Original Scent so on certain loads (sheets & towels), I will add some Downey.
My homemade detergent must have built up in my clothes... They eventually just got stinky and no amount of washing with that could get rid of it. Went back to store bought and they went back to normal
Tide does really work well, however every single time I sneak it in for a load or two, our entire family has an allergic reaction, it’s the itching!! I always use LESS than it says because I read everywhere don’t use the full amount, it’s bad for your washer and they want you to use so much to sell more! I stick with Persil. Sometimes If I’m soaking, I use the homemade I JUST DO NOT ADD SOAP BARS!!!
Thanks for this! We ran experiments in college on the lysing power of detergents, which determines cleaning power vs damage to fabrics/ fading. The best cleaners that did not damage clothes were Tide and Cheer. Gain damaged clothes the most oddly enough. This could explain the high number of people with allergies/reactions to Gain as well.
If you are concerned about laundry sheet performance, get the ones made in China. In China, they wash in tap cold. Most households don't have hot water hooked up for laundry. They engineer detergents with that in mind.
I've been using Persil for years. The funny thing is, I bought it to try when it was on sale & I liked the container's design better than what I had been using. It was easier to get all the detergent out of the container than what I had been using. Good to know that it does a great job on stains. I'm retired & don't have to deal with stains very often. I'm going to try Purex, the next time I see it on sale. The price per load chart seems to use only giant sizes of the products. I damaged my back and my old body can't lift those big containers, plus my washer is compact, so I'll have to figure out whether Persil or Purex is cheaper in my situation.
Iiiiinteresting! I definitely wasn't able to look at clothing durability over time with this test, but that makes a lot of sense. If it's able to get out stains so well, it's probably got some high-powered chemicals. Thanks for the tip!
I loved my xtra brand but you are correct about the suds but I also use scent beads, fabric softener and dryer sheets 😬 I’m addicted to smells so I stock pile all types of laundry’s stuff. Some of the best cheap scent boosters are dollar tree I tried them and love them and tide pods 😩
I dont like the green of LA Awesome but they have a purple one, thats got softener in it, that isnt bad, at least to me. Its not the greatest, but as a single parent, when money is really tight, itll due for a while
I used Purex while raising my 6 kids. Now that they are grown i use everything. I try just about everything. Lol Today I received Tide from Vietnam with a warning label on it. Weird right! Bought it off of the Walmart app for 60.00. I didn’t use actual cash, I used my Walmart cash to buy it.
Thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos I have learnt a lot I also am addicted to smells and it’s embarrassing but when ever I see something I want to buy I always have to smell it first all my clothes are always clean and soft I also wash my shoes and leave them to dry
@@Homegrown_Hillary I've never noticed a vinegary smell and I'm usually sensitive to strong smells. But I've been using that detergent for decades, since I figured out it was a lot cheaper than Dreft. So I may be used to it. Also I'm not using it on baby situations, sooo lol
@@FrankGutowski-ls8jtChemistry is exactly why we put Vinegar into the rinse cycle or fabric softener compartment: Chemistry to ensure all the skin irritating Alkaline detergent residue is rinsed off our kids clothes 😇.
Wow, what a GREAT video. I have used Purex for years and it is really good. I used homemade before too and liked it. Tide is 4.00 off at Sam's this week so I will be picking up some. My son likes tide, but it makes me itch. For me home made and Purex work fine. We do like adding borax as my husband and son are welders and get really dirty. And because we have very hard water. Thanks for the great video. Liked and subscribed!
Have you seen there is a Costco being built in Scarborough by the racetrack? Crazy times when Maine gets a Costco. What’s next… ikea? Oh, and I love Persil but one kid is super sensitive and it contributes to their eczema so now we use tide free and clear. I miss the smell of Persil.
Here's some info for you, tested by me for YEARZZZ. The Aldi generics for Tide and Gain are fantastic, and you can water them down one part soap to 1.5 parts water. I use one of my old jumbo detergent bottles with a spout, pour in the 100 oz. of whichever soap i have purchased, and then add 1.5 of the same bottle filled with water. That creates 250 oz of soap for my $8 purchase.
Dont give up on homemade... Both fels and zote laundry soap bars are low sudsing and work great in he machines. Plus, you can always add a bag of cheap ariel detergent for the surfactants to help with build up... although, ive had no issue with build up... even when I'm lazy and dont use ariel .
I used the LA totally awesome detergent 5 or so years ago when i was in a financial pinch. I thought to myself, it cannot be that bad, it should do something.... I was wrong, first off i agree with you on the smell. Second off, my clothes came out DIRTIER than they went in. My lights, came out grey... At that point I spent the extra money on some Arm and hammer to fix the damage that the LAs did... It took a couple of washes. I've seen a few videos of people who love LA's... I don't know how, i couldn't deal with dirty laundry after a wash. 🤣🤣🤣 I personally use arm & hammer and a scoop of oxi clean most of the time. Sometimes I'll jump for persil, but not often just due to price and quantity. I've also tried Xtra, it works way better than the LA's (not saying much), but its still pretty lack luster. You have to use a lot more than other detergents to get a similar clean.
My son can only tolerate free and clear. But! I found sams club occasionally puts it on sale 4$ off, and they are already cheaper, the amount you get is massive. (20.98 for 250oz, but on sale 16.98. --offsale 8c an oz isnt really that bad--) so i bought 4 containers, on sale . Should be ok for like 2 years.
My top 3 is Tide Ultra Oxy Tide Hygienic Clean and Tide with Downy. I pair either of those with Oxy Clean for a superior clean and stain removal. Tide and Oxy Clean are the only two products I use and our clothes come out fresh and clean. I don't use any scent boosters/beads, fabric softeners or fabric sheets. I only use wool dryer balls when drying and our clothes are so soft and static free. I save so much money by only using two products.
Thank goodness you tried Charlie's! I've been using it for maybe a year with my husband and baby and their clothes just started to smell awful. I thought it was just me or hormone changes or something but if I'm not the only one not impressed with the lack of clean and the bad smell, I'm switching! I wish there were more powder options for my low-waste lifestyle but alas, some things just need to work. Thank you!
Something I learned is that we use way too much detergent and it isn't good for the machine. This is advice from a repair man who has been a repair man for over 20 years..yes, use a tablespoon of detergent...I am following his advice and my fragrance free detergent lasts about five months a bottle. Yay!! Granted our family is grown and out of the house..there is just me and my husband, but the savings is great!!😊
U said persil was best smelling...& like u I don't like fake smells...I actually like a clean linen scent, but so often they smell fake to me. My question is what did Persil actually smell like? If u could describe it please. Thanx so much!
I love to use Arm & Hammer Free and Clear. It does a pretty good job and has no scent at all after washing. I don't like scented laundry detergents; they always seem way too strong on the perfume. Maybe my nose is oversensitive.
Me too. I'm very sensitive to scents. However, nothing removes stains like Tide in my opinion. I use it as a stain treatment and then use unscented detergent, but less than half of the recommended amount.
Since Wisk is no longer... would the recipe for food stains be good with Persil (found in Tightwad Gazette). I use liquid Tide for tough stain... powder for all loads. My daughter spilled soup (tomato based) and the powder did not take out the stain.
This is awesome! Thanks. I’m a nerd, very cost conscientious, a mom, and i dabble in a little DIY around the house. Thanks for doing this. I do wish you had a Costco in Maine, bc I typically use the Costco brand and have tide on the side (the 2X hygienic for my nasty boys and husband 🤣- when some of their thing scare extra nasty). I’d love to have seen those results. Maybe I can send you some, or perhaps someone already has. I just don’t have time to read ALL of the comments. Thanks again!!!❤
Aww, thank you! We actually JUST got a Costco in Maine like two months ago, but I haven’t yet tried Kirkland! (Btw, did you find this video via Facebook? All of a sudden this video’s getting a TON of new traffic from fb and I’m curious where it’s from! 😂)
I make my own detergent using three tbs. borax, three tbs. washing soda and three tbs. Dawn dish detergent. Add these to at least a quart of water bring to a boil let cool and put in a gal. Container and top gal with water. Pennys to use and a good spot remover.
This was a really helpful and interesting video. Thank you for all your time and effort in putting it together. I would love to know the health safety factor of these detergents. I’m told the sheets are better in that area.
What about Cheer??? Cheer should be as strong as Tide and Persil, but they don’t advertise and they are not prominently displayed in the store so they have a low overhead. The most reasonable of expensive laundry detergents.
New subscriber here....Hillary you crack me up! Great video comparing laundry detergents....I personally have been using Ecos brand for years but I don't have any little ones with "blowouts" 🤣😂😂😂 I am now tempted to give Tide a try....I've never used it due to the cost (I didn't think it was "frugal') but I do know I am using WAY TOO MUCH soap. Going to try the 2 tbsps and see how that works out for us. I really enjoy your channel!
My story: (not exciting) but for years I've been using the Windfresh powder from Sams...I decided to start using liquid again because I just didn't want to lug that big bucket...I bought the Purex 4 in 1... the smell is amazing but what blows my mind is trying to read the dosage. Even with a flashlight and good vision...they literally have the lines in the cap the EXACT color of the cap... making it basically invisible.... Now I have to ask... why?? Also, it says for normal loads fill to just below line 1... Just below? why not AT line 1? LOL... What are they thinking? Aside from what it's good detergent from what I can tell...I read the the same company that makes Persil makes Purex...
@One-Day-A: I also use Windfresh from Sam's Club and like it. It lasts me almost 10 months. It's one of the few detergent powders left. It sure takes a lot of effort to get it into the trunk of my car after purchase. I also use PUREX liquid detergent for colored clothes and like that brand too
I keep reading that Tide is not the best for color clothes over time and especially black clothes. Supposedly, Persil does better and wont fade the clothes over time. Any truth? I use Woolite for Dark clothes, but I do run into some white film on the clothes from time to time and not always the best with stains.
I have asthma and very scent sensitive. Persil is one I can’t use. My eyes burn & water, nose runs, chest gets tight, headache, cough, and wheeze. Gain is another one I can’t stand the smell of.. I’ve been using 1 TBSP of powdered Original Tide. The original Tide liquid bothers me..
I never even thought about allergies to scents or skin conditions! And certainly never considered that there'd be much difference between tide powder and tide liquid if they're both original. Thanks for sharing!

That’s incredible!
LoL
Then she's with pawpaw when we feed the chickens as she's naming them. LOL 😆
These little one's are so precious 💕 ..
@@chuckvenable4409 so cute! My dad has said much the same when he’s toting my baby around in the carrier, “I wish I had one of these earlier!”
I always use Purex. Its cheap and works.
Thank you! Time consuming, yes, but I actually only spent something like $15 for everything. Gotta love the Buy Nothing group! :)
Great comparisons! Purex works well, and I used it until my kids developed rashes. We had to switch to a fragrance free brand for the rashes to stop.
Ooof yes. We’ve been blessed with zero skin sensitivities in my house, but I imagine that’s frustrating to work around!
I found the dryer sheets give rushes to my oldest son, Emily
Wow, you did a great job on all of the comparisons. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for doing this comparison. Henkel makes purex and persil. I love both of their products when on budget I get purex when we can as a family of five I buy persil especially with coupons from dollar general. They are both great laundry detergents made from the same manufacturer.
You’re so welcome! And thanks for the tip!
A real person to tell the truth on laundry soap "AWESOME
I'm quoting you as a source in my book "The Encyclopedia of Frugality," in the chapter about saving money on domestic management entitled, "Mission Impossible." Fabulous info, thanks Hillary.
Good luck with the writing! Happy to help 😊
I JUST discovered you, & I LOVE ya, girl! I am a UA-cam junkie!😅 Thanx for this thorough experiment! I use non toxic detergents, due to the overabundance of toxins & contaminants in our water(our entire earth!) that we are leaving behind for our children to clean up!🙄
But I always hear that Tide wins these kinds of challenges!
This means a lot! Thank you!
Back in the day , oh here I go dating my age lol.. I used cloth diapers for my little one and I remember using good old Cheer... I have never had a better detergent than that one since. I think it would be compared to the Purex.
Love the unscented Purex. Thank you!
Babies make so much laundry our first washer only lasted 7 years. It was a 1952 Blackstone which was s lemon.
I really like powdered detergent ❤
I would like to see a video using powdered detergent and see what is best and more economical
Appreciate the thorough reviews. I gave switched to Purex and Perisel based on your FANTASTIC job.
My homemade detergent must have built up in my clothes... They eventually just got stinky and no amount of washing with that could get rid of it. Went back to store bought and they went back to normal
The las totally awesome is actually really good but i just switched to a powder detergent called foca and its amazing !!
Oh and I’ve had a few Tide pods not burst 😔
This was so helpful!!! I have spent many moons making my own detergent to improve toxicity. Stains are a game changer! I am going to try Purex❤️
I love your comments and results you have no idea! A single dad this is so helpful !! I go through so many cheap out baking soda hacks this is awesome
Oh I'm so happy to help!!
I love my peppermint castil soap❤
I'll have to keep this in mind the next time I do price comparisons like this! I hardly think you're alone in having weight limits.
Thank you for this very informative video! I appreciate all of the work and thought that went into the information you've presented here.
You’re so welcome! Thanks for seeing the effort. 😊
Purex is my favorite! Been using it for years
Tide is good. But, if used for every wash it wears the fibers down. We try to use it every 3rd wash unless the clothes are super dirty
Its not the greatest, but as a single parent, when money is really tight, itll due for a while
Love me some Gain❤. Wonderful video ❤
I used Purex while raising my 6 kids. Now that they are grown i use everything. I try just about everything. Lol
Today I received Tide from Vietnam with a warning label on it. Weird right! Bought it off of the Walmart app for 60.00. I didn’t use actual cash, I used my Walmart cash to buy it.
This is great , thank you!
You’re very welcome! 😊
Thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos I have learnt a lot I also am addicted to smells and it’s embarrassing but when ever I see something I want to buy I always have to smell it first all my clothes are always clean and soft I also wash my shoes and leave them to dry
Great comparison. I have super sensitive skin so I have to use the Arm & Hammer tabs. I pour a little vinegar in my laundry to help with odors. 👍
I’ve never tried vinegar in the laundry since I hate the smell so much. Does everything smell like vinegar afterwards? Or just clean?
@@Homegrown_Hillary I've never noticed a vinegary smell and I'm usually sensitive to strong smells. But I've been using that detergent for decades, since I figured out it was a lot cheaper than Dreft. So I may be used to it. Also I'm not using it on baby situations, sooo lol
@@Homegrown_Hillary
Wishful thinking. Chemistry: it’s neutralized by bases in detergents, which are alkaline.
@@FrankGutowski-ls8jtChemistry is exactly why we put Vinegar into the rinse cycle or fabric softener compartment: Chemistry to ensure all the skin irritating Alkaline detergent residue is rinsed off our kids clothes 😇.
This is a fabulous video. I REALLY appreciate the time it took for you to do this comparison. Your video ideas are so good. Thank you, thank you..
Dang! If you do this again I will totally send you some kirkland once I am settled after a big move!
Thanks so much! I’ve always wondered how people with very hard water handle things.
I KNOW!! I can't wait to test it out. If you don't want to get a membership right away, I'm probably going to do a review as a Costco newbie, haha. :)
I had a stain from chili on my white shirt i tried gain and xtra and neither of them got the stain out so then i used ariel and it worked.
This was so much fun! You've definitely provided a very thorough test.
I'm sold on PUREX LAUNDRY DETERGENT!
That’s great! I didn’t know Aldi had a generic brand, but I’m not sure why I never thought to check.
Great reuse of those awesome big dispenser bottles.
Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤
Dont give up on homemade... Both fels and zote laundry soap bars are low sudsing and work great in he machines. Plus, you can always add a bag of cheap ariel detergent for the surfactants to help with build up... although, ive had no issue with build up... even when I'm lazy and dont use ariel .
Good to know, thanks so much!
I heard its from washing in cold. The soap doesnt fully dissolve and thats what leaves the buildup. If you going to use it use warm/hot water
@@loveu8910to use zote you shred it up and cook it in water to make liquid detergent
I personally use arm & hammer and a scoop of oxi clean most of the time.
Way to go! I got a deal like that at the beginning of the pandemic. That giant bottle of All in the video is like two years old 😂
Costco detergent (Kirkland) is really good. Smells good too!
I can’t wait to try it!
I agree kirkland pods dont have the same smell
My top 3 Tide Original Persil Gain and Clorox 2 for stain treatment and Oxi Clean powder if I need to soak some items.
Thank you!
Glad I could help! But sorry it wasn’t working for you either :(
You are delightful.
Why thank you! 😊
Something I learned is that we use way too much detergent and it isn't good for the machine. This is advice from a repair man who has been a repair man for over 20 years..yes, use a tablespoon of detergent...I am following his advice and my fragrance free detergent lasts about five months a bottle. Yay!! Granted our family is grown and out of the house..there is just me and my husband, but the savings is great!!😊
I use Xtra but my clothes are usually just slightly soiled, it's just fine for me.
I use the smelly/perfume detergent in the prewash only.
Thanks for doing this
Thank you for you very good video
I have always wondered about Pyrex detergent and now I will try it soon
You’re very welcome! Glad it was helpful 😊
U said persil was best smelling...& like u I don't like fake smells...I actually like a clean linen scent, but so often they smell fake to me. My question is what did Persil actually smell like? If u could describe it please. Thanx so much!
Great 👍 thank you 👍 ❤️ 😊
I love to use Arm & Hammer Free and Clear.
Insightful
I❤Persil, it is the BEST
I watched a video recently that you can make your own laundry detergent from conkers and water. I don’t know how effective it is though
I make my own detergent using three tbs. borax, three tbs. washing soda and three tbs. Dawn dish detergent. Add these to at least a quart of water bring to a boil let cool and put in a gal. Container and top gal with water. Pennys to use and a good spot remover.
What is the difference in cleaning between Tide in the yellow bottle and Tide in the orange bottle? There is a great price difference.
I like Tide The best. My friend use to love Cheer. I am not sure if they still make it. I love this video. It was fun.
Interesting! I didn’t find “Cheer” anywhere, but that doesn’t mean it’s not out there somewhere 😂
@@Homegrown_Hillary They do not make it anyy more
@@Homegrown_Hillary
Cheer was folded into the Tide brand by P&G years ago.
Use sunlight one times and wondered if you had ever tried it. Not sure if it is a stated thing or only Canada!
This was a really helpful and interesting video. Thank you for all your time and effort in putting it together. I would love to know the health safety factor of these detergents. I’m told the sheets are better in that area.
Interesting! I'm 0% familiar with the health factors, but I've read that's often a reason people prefer the homemade detergents.
@@Homegrown_Hillary me, too.
Very fun and helpful video, and fun personality! I'm new to the neighborhood...glad to meet you : )
Glad to have you around! 😊
😂😂😂 Thank you!
I use ecos also.
I also use PUREX liquid detergent for colored clothes and like that brand too
Have you done a review of berkley and jenson? Bjs brand?
Costco opened a warehouse in Scarborough. Welcome to Maine Kirkland brand laundry detergent!
I KNOW! I've got to make the time to check them out.
I've used Purex free and clear for yrs.
