It's cool that he doesn't try to figure out why his fans are lining up to see him, but that he's just super grateful whenever something he's worked on connected with them
Its crazy that he said he never practiced wearing the springbonnie costume, because to me, him walking down the entrance hallway at the end is iconic now
Exactly. He made a guy in a rabbit costume look intimidating as hell!
Welcome to Matthew, he goes above and beyond when he loves a project, just doesn’t see it as much as we do :)
yes he looked so menacing it gave me goosebumps! exactly how i pictured it
Fr💯💯
Man, I'd be HONORED to play such a character. He gave us a truly perfect performance. Hats off to you, Matthew.
He made afton look so pathetic. ...which is accurate. Anyone who kills kids is. As intelligent as Afton is, hes very dumb. This movie is very accurate to the first 3 games

First Stu macher and now William afton! This guy is the best at knife related stuff😂
OMG it's SHAGGY
the king of ecentric serial killers
You forgot Dennis Rafkin from (2001) 13 ghost movie and Scooby Doo!
I can see why his kids went crazy when they found out their dad was going to be Afton/Springtrap! Him and the animatronics are what the fans want to see!👍
They probably got like dawko
"Omg its William afton :0"
@@ursapolargalactica Imagine your dad coming home and saying " I'm in a movie called Five Nights at Freddy's playing some guy called Springtrap..."👍

My dad is a bad guy like William...
But i would like it

This man is a true gem, hopefully we see alot more of him in fnaf 2
FNaF 2 doesn't have William Afton a lot,, the only thing about him in FNaF 2 is the fact that he murdered his co-worker's daughter who is the puppet
@@iLoveBread260 maybe he'll play springtrap in fnaf 3?
@@StupidIdiotTheSecond true, but we won't really see his face when he plays springtrap

We love you Mathew! Cant wait to see more of him in the later movies!
he gonna come back. he aways do
@@ursapolargalactica we have a place for him
I mean, he is gonna be in three of them, so that's gonna be exciting to see.
Matthew absoultley crushed the role and carried the movie so much, hope to see him more in the sequels
He's Springtrap now and Springtrap ALWAYS comes back.
I'm honestly glad his kids convinced him to take the role cause he was the best part of the whole film. It's a shame he barely had any screentime.
bro was planning shit that’s why he had little screentime (my opinion..
Ya never see him in the first anyway, so it's more just an teaser or appetizer
Give it time. His best step forward was being less. He’s an enigma rn.
When we see him in the future. He’s gonna KILL this role
I always knew Matthew as Shaggy ever since I was little. Now he’s gonna be known as Shaggy and William Afton/Springtrap to me now..
What a time to be alive.
What happened to stu macher😂
@@KingVZ2O_CapcutForgotten and left to rotten for years 27 but his spirit haunts Springtrap! After Steve's death Stu merged with Steve but seriously If he is alive He might got go hide and somewhere then plan something
Mr Cupcake was the WILDEST in the movie😭
I know right
IKR like bro did not have an off switch LOL
Mr. Cupcake was the true villain
It was sad to see Matthew Lillard getting killed by Mr. Cupake
...the cupcakes name is CARL 😭
Matthew not knowing how absolutely important his role is in this franchise is equal parts interesting and wholesome. No one else could have played Afton.
I love Matthew so much, he was my favourite actor when I was a kid and now as an adult he became part of the franchise that I've adored since my teenage years, it's like he's always there...
@@lonelypotato3395 exactly 🤣 he's perfect for the part
@@idkimnotgoodatthistrue 😂
Safe to say Mr purple guy is in the best hands! Matthew is our William afton 🫶🏻
springbonnie was so scary in the movie
Very true.
@@BurningFlamesofDivineDragon the cupcake was scary too
my inner child had truly never been more fulfilled than when i watched the fnaf movie for the first time in theatres and matthew lillard utterly embodying william afton was a huge part of that. give this man an egot i dont care he outsold.
I've watched Matthew Lillard play as Shaggy in live-action Scooby Doo and now as William Afton in FNAF. ML is a legend. Love to see more of him in the future.
When he said that he would fight Cupcake I was like “mmmm- you sure?” I still can’t believe Cupcake got the most on screen kills though😭
Imma just say it. Matthew was the best Afton.
We love him, not because of his roles, but because he is a wholesome, good human being! 👑
Loved this, so glad you interviewed him! He nailed spring Bonnie movements and being William in general. Him walking down the hallway as “The Yellow Rabbit” comes in is so menacing, and his eyes when he stabs vanessa scream guilt.
I'm very glad this role went to him. He deserves to be in a massive franchise.
"planning on 3 movies" he just dropped a huge reveal!
I love how she mentions 20 movies and he states that he’s available!! And I 100 percent agree with mat. They did make that movie for the fans and that’s what Ive said from day one seeing this movie. They it for the fans and knocked it out of the park. And Mathew you may have one been in for a couple scenes in movie number 1 but I’ve never heard fans scream so load for one character during a movie!
Seeing Matthew in this movie made me realise just how integral he has been to my cinema experience.
From being a child and watching the live action scooby doo movies.
To now seeing him in fantastic movies such as five nights at Freddy’s and Scream.
I love him, he seems like such a cool guy. 😭
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for since the movie! It’s so fantastic that you got this opportunity. I love to hear what actors have to say about their roles!
Bro is a legend
Matthew Lillard is a legend! Love Shaggy, Stu Macher & William Afton!
I haven't had a movie theater experience that comes close to the one I had when seeing the FNAF movie since the final Harry Potter movie came out
I made instant friends for the length of that movie, we were all singing and laughing and screaming together and yelling "IT'S JUST A THEORY!!" At the screen at once
Everybody was so practically on their feet when Spring Trap came out
The effects surrounding the suit Matthew was wearing made his entire entrance otherworldly, haunting and absolutely terrifying
He moved as if he'd been in that suit forever
Which is exactly how William Afton would, wearing the suit is naturally as his own skin
I truly cannot wait for the next FNAF movie! I'm still over the absolute moon for getting to see it day 1 in the theater❤️
Now i have some rockin FNAF wear for the next one❤️
Thank you Matthew for taking our video game movie so seriously, listening to your kids, and paying so much attention to the games in the lore for this role
It means so much to your fans and the fans of this story
Matthew’s story about his kids finding out he got the offer for FNAF sounds very familiar to the story Pedro Pascal told about his nephews finding out he got an offer for The Last Of Us 😂
This is so cool you go Matthew Lillard keep up the great work.
Thank you for bringing my favourite character from the series after 9 years to life! You have gone up to the top of my list of celebrities i need to meet 😊😊
This man is legendary, one of my favourite actors!
I respect the confidence in saying Chica and making a point about the cupcake when the cupcake is what finished him off in the movie.
"With all due respect, those aren't the design choices we were curious about Mr. Afton" *BAMMMMMM*
How iconic would it be if Freddy Prince Jr played Glamrock Freddy.
Imagine how much its gonna take to make Matthew into a rotting burnt corpse once Blumhouse and Jim Henson's Creature shop make Springtrap
If I could meet Matthew Lillard and Scott Cawthon, it would mean so much to me and my love for Fnaf
Loved you as Shaggy in Scooby Doo, loved you as William Afton! Cannot wait to see you playing the role even more!!!!
My beloved Matthew, you did AMAZING in this role ✨
I love how he added Stu's gesture of cleaning the knife from Scream
My favorite cartoon and live action actor being this excited for fnaf is amazing.
He is a legend and total gem! We need to see way more of him in the next one. Like him going from the good side of William man to the murderer version
Matthew Lillard has to be one of the best actors on a huge list but he's definitely somewhere on the top.
Imagen your dad playing one of your favorite characters from a good game, that is amazing
Guys he actually came back.
Did a great job on Springtrap, liberally no actor couldve done better
It's interesting that he plays Ghostface only in the camera scene and Springbonnie in all the scenes, I think he likes the hard, I wonder how he will play as Springtrap
LOVE how he actually PLAYED FNAF to get INTO the role and studied the vids religiously! That is what I call a real actor!!!!
Matthew killed it in the movie!! (No pun intended)
Matthew lillard did an amazing job I can't imagine the pressure for him playing such an iconic villain especially with an amazing but massive fan base behind the movie and games so hats off to him and the rest of the film actors and actresses as well as not just the fan base this movie was my friends introduction to the fnaf lore so this could have been a lot of peoples first experience so the pressure some of the cast must have felt but they all did an amazing job. Matthew has been my favorite actor since being stu in scream.
I’ve been a fan of Matthew for years. 13 ghosts was my fav movie with him. But now it’s fnaf. He’s a great actor and I love how chill he is. I’d love to meet him someday. Bet he’s super cool. Well done interview too! I love when people are genuine and not just superficial
I'm so glad it was him because he sounds so passionate about the role, like he's just as excited as we are.
Remember when everyone wanted Willem Dafoe to play the Afton? I ask myself, would we have got this level of passion from him too?! Prob not LOL
Willem Dafoe is for sure a great actor and is definitely passionate about playing great goblin but it's hard to gauge what he'd be like as William Afton
This wasn’t a bad movie at all. It’s a fun video game adapted popcorn flick that for people not versed with the games could easily follow.
Perfect explanation
Yeah people wanting the entire lore setup in the first movie I feel like don't know how much they're asking for. There's like a dozen games plus books. I don't even know if 3 movies are gonna scratch the surface.
Its a ok movie
The history could be better but the animatronics and characters are amazing
I KNEW IT!!!!!
I mean... he did say that he ALWAYS comes back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You gotta love Matthew❤❤
SO GLAD to hear him call out SLC Punk!
I've always been a big fan of Matthew Lillard. We need more of him.
How awesome would it be to have a dad who is a actor and the play your favorite character
i love matthew lillard as an actor, i know he did multiple roles but i can always see him as stu macher...
#bringbackstu
Man, I couldn't have asked for a better actor to play Spring! Matthew is not only a great actor who really sells the role, but he also seems like such a nice, respectful guy irl! Just someone you love to root for, you know?
12:22
wow
i fi can't believe his kids reaction when they saw him playing william afton (if they saw the movie)
Zoinks! Like Scoob, I'm the man behind the slaughter!
Is it weird that as a viewer of the game series I always pictured William Afton as this actor so when it was revealed I was so excited!! I don't know why but for years this is the guy in my head
The only reason why I watched Five Nights at Freddy's to begin with was because this man was in it...
He's got the Midas touch... Everything he touches turns to gold!
I then ended up getting very interested in the lore and did a deep dive.
I ended up watching a ton of Game walkthroughs/timeline theory videos and have had many conversations with my teens about it... Both of them are avid fans... I can't wait for the next movie!!!
i am SO excited to see him stuck in the suit in the next movie
"He will come back.
He Always Comes Back" 👁🕕
so i know this is my second comment, but i want to share my story of the fnaf movie. when i was walking in, you could already tell there was passion in this crowd, cosplay everywhere, merch on everyone. everyone is hyped. i got recognized as the purple guy straight away, a more modest approch i will say, but it was william nonetheless. it was really a you had to be there thing, and when the end credits came on, everyone was singing. i felt a childhood in me that i thought i had lost a long time ago. i was back. that movie healed me and many others. we shared that with people. we made this happen
This makes me so incredibly happy
Blows my mind that you got Matthew in this interview, with not very many followers! So glad this came into my feed. Good interview. (Outro is so loud though 😂)
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU MATTEW LILLARD!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU IN THE NEXT FNAF MOVIE!!! 🤩💜
I really wish someone asked Matthew this.
Whos a better partner, billy or scooby
YESSS
I can’t believe Emma Tammi described William Afton as the Voldemort of the FNAF franchise. I’d never come up with it myself, but she GETS this franchise. Couldn’t ask for a better FNAF movie director.
You are a great interviewer Convo
Shaggy And FNAF Where The Best Thing To Ever Happen And When I First Saw Him In The FNAF Movie I Thought Who’s That Guy He Looks Familiar And I Heard Is The Same Guy That Played Shaggy I Was Very Happy And Seeing Him Say Like ZOINKS SCOOB IM A MAN BEHIND THE SLAUGHTER. ;)
The Night Shift release of FNaF on Bluray immediately caught my attention as a gift for my partner, who is very into this franchise. It isn't available in Australia for a while yet, but we are very excited to check it out.
I've never played the game but I enjoyed the movie and my son is obsessed with FNAF now. Matthew's performance was great!
I'm so happy they chose him for purple guy, really was amazing.
He is one of the best actors I love when he plays scram, Scooby-Doo, and fnaf
Love this guy so much. Ever since Scream.
i hope he watches the interview and reads the comments, as a longtime fnaf fan, i put down my knowledge for the movie and watched it without my knowledge on purpose, as the franchise always is confusing, but the movie was great, it explained alot for people who didn't study the game beforehand it feels like. and i need to say, matthew really acted great in the movie, i'm looking forward to the next movies
If we get fnaf movie 2 that takes place in “new and improved Freddy fazbears pizza (1986-1993), we better get some more William content and screen time
I will always remember matthew lillard for his role in the movie Scream, i remember watchin it when i was 6 and it scared the hell out of me but i loved it at the same time, and i was instantly hooked into horror movies
Originally the guy who played the green goblin was gonna be willaim afton but then Matthew got it also you can really hear his past roll of shaggy in his voice
My guy. You just stomped out your own iconic character Scream with this role.
You are the face of a new generation.
I like how the movie helps fill in gaps in the older games and im glad for it
bro went from being the person who was unmasking villains to being the one unmasked
Love that he is springtrap but i reeeeeeealy hope the second movie is a prequel were it shows him frist opening the restaurant or they introduce his son Michael
Two popular characters. First he played Shaggy, now he played Afton, symmetry my friend.
I hope we see a sequel soon.
Lillard made Springtrap look like a psychotic final boss in a powerful Bunny mech suit, and I couldn’t be happier.
We first see him (not enough) as William Afton, then we see him as Spring Bonnie (yellow rabbit). We have not seen him as Springtrap yet. Springtrap is coming back years later after he dies in the suit.
@@homespace1268
Alright, in technical terms I meant withered SpringBonnie. I still get what you mean, but he still is William Afton in a worn down SpringBonnie suit, you may as well call him by his most notable name if it comes to the top of your head.
@@bigbones90 I do look forward to seeing Springtrap though...I'm sure the audience will be very excited with maybe a gasp with mouths hanging open...lol... can't wait!✌️
Would love prequel’s with Mr.Afton during the hight of the restaurant’s popularity
He always comes back
Naw just imagine that YOUR DAD is William Afton. If I was his kids I would faint on the spot
I can't wait for the FNAF sequel I would love to see some flashbacks of William Afton to develop him as a character
I'm so glad that the FNAF team gave me the Scream payoff I've always wanted.
He always comes back.
Great stuff.
Comparing William Afton and Voldemort is such a perfect way to describe William's role in the FNAF Universe
He's so good for William Afton role!
