EATING TRADITIONAL SARAWAK FOOD - Kuching
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 гру 2024
- It was about time that we tried traditional Sarawak food here in Kuching.
When we arrived, we were pretty overwhelmed with the variety of food but our lovely waiter Fredrick helped us pick out the best dishes to try
These include
Fiona Fish
Tuak AKA "Jungle Juice"
Bamboo Chicken
Kayan mixed Vegetables
Brown Rice
And some we don't remember...
Fantastic food and even better atmosphere.

Lepau means rice wrap in a leave. Traditionally, it is served cold but for some people would be misunderstood or dislike why it is served cold.
Back in kampung, when the rice already cook(Still hot), it is wrap inside a leaf and to be bring along for those farmers or hunters as food supply. Whenever they wanna eat, the rice is already cold. This is the concept which Lepau restaurant been using. Plus, Lepau is very usefull to them as it is act as their plate as well.. So, no need to use or bring plates or bowl to eat. ☺
#leaf
Hahahah. We had friends from UK here last year, they tried tuak, and said, after their first sip “oh, this is nice, and easy” and they ended up ordering like 5 bottles in total. And fyi, you’ll started getting drunk from tuak wayyy later after your first drinks. And let me just say, it wasn’t good for them that night 🤣 we had to put them on the hotel’s luggage carrier to send them up to their room. It was hilarious. But we did have fun tho! Enjoy your next adventure!
I almost choked on my tea when you said its very "spiritual" lol
Hahahahahahahahah !!!! You have no idea how much it made us laugh when we were editing the video 😅😅😅
Beer For Breakfast I can imagine, I laughed so loud it woke my 2 year old!
Hahahahahaha ohhh dear ! Bless your baby ! ☺️😀
Welcome to Sarawak..Tq
May God Bless Both Of You&Family..
Tuak has no fixed percentage, it really depends on the family who makes them and how strong they want it to be. But it generally ranges between 5% - 20% xD

One of my favorite aspects of following your adventures is that (in my view) you ladies are doing it right. Your willingness to try local cuisine and take in the culture is a big part of that. I would raise a class of tuak to you but all I have is coffee. Nevertheless... Cheers!
Oh my..i miss ayam pansuh very much!
It might looks plain, but at least, sarawakian dishes is healthy food.
Less coconut milk. Less oil.
Missing all d food....only found in Sarawak...😋😋👍🌹🤗
Bamboo chicken also known as “ayam pansuh or pansuh ayam” is the most tastiest thing I have ever tried. Their pounded tapioca leaves are amazing omg

There is Benak Festival starting today in Sri Aman.. It takes about 3 hours and half from kuching. 😊
If u go to sabah then u have to taste kinomol, bahar, tapai, tumpung. It same like tuak but bit different depend on how the family make it. Usually the longer the stronger.
Thaaaanks !
Tuak is rice wine which is made out of rice, yeast and ginger (yeast + ginger)
there is 1 dish called isam where rice and chicken cooked together inside bamboo. Pansuh is just chicken.
Both of u should try 'Langkau' . Homemade wine originally from Sarawak.
I've been there before. It is so delicious! But not as delicious as my mom's tempoyak and bamboo chicken.😉
Also, my mom usually fries the sagu worms with sweet ketchup, removing its head and all. I don't like eating it raw. It taste like fried chicken. Sigh...miss her cooking. She rarely cooks nowadays. All I eat is food from the school cafeteria and vegetables.still, even the food from the school is delicious. The nasi lemaks...lemang...butter chicken...
FYI There are actually more types of tuak like roselle and pandan tuak besides the original. I love that you guys tried all the different types of dayak food ❤❤

😍those food in Lepau Restaurant looks very delicious 🤤
I make tuak at home and, taste wise it depends on many factors. every batch will taste different. Alcohol content will differ from batch ranging from 5 upward
I wish to try tuak. Cheers
Ohhhh my,,, i miss this restaurant,, the food there is really good,,
Bamboo chicken= Pansuh Chicken. Tuak very nice.
Hi girls! The tuak or rice wine has about 12% level of alcohol... The strong one is known as "langkau". The rice wine of nowadays comes in various flavours - pineapple, banana... you name it. It depends on the maker's creativity. It's more like a dessert wine... sherry... Sarawak indigenous food are pretty much like what you are having. But most of all... I'm damn jealous!!!
di entika that I setuju haaa langkau the best and better than tuak,I think indu ribai can be joget or luput under table haaa
For those who wants to know about tuak and its alcohol content... can check with a tuak expert we learned how to make it from. He did a test on the alcohol content and it is usually at a minimum or 12%. *Edited: ABOUT 12%.
