Awww Justina and Misha, I salute the both of you. So kind and humble and so enthusiastic about everything. The Iban people are really hospitable, like all Sarawakians, and so authentic. As a Sarawakian, I feel so touched and blessed to live in this blessed land.
Love that you guys enjoyed your stay. It shows in your vibrant smiles and laughter. We Sarawakians love sharing our culture with others, and are very proud of our heritage. No such thing as cultural appropriation because in Sarawak you are mostly a mix of a lot of ethnicities. I'm a quarter Baie Segan, a quarter Punan, a quarter of Melanau and a quarter of Brunei. We also celebrate each other's festivities, Gawai, Christmas, eid you name it. Love thy neighbor and coexistence is the best thing in the world. There's much that we can learn from each other. It's a pity some people think culture is an exclusive thing for members only. As always, thank you for this video. You guys are always going beyond being touristy and shows the authenticity of each places you've been. Reminds me of Anthony Bourdain and his love for Borneo. Why haven't both of you got a travel channel already!
This was great. My brother paid you ladies the highest compliment, after watching one of your videos. “These girls are genuine.” How cool is that? Take care. 👍🏻❤️
Misha & Justina... this one totally brought me back to my own youth and the many jungle adventures I had. Living by nature is a wonderful thing, isn't it? The jungle both humbles and empowers and reminds us how we fit into the scheme of things... important lessons that I've carried to this day. Thank You for the reminder. You two did it right. Cheers!
The jungle trekking gave me anxiety omg how do you do it. 😭 Beautiful video girls. The kids at the end were just the icing on the cake. I'm genuinely happy that you get to experience stuff like this. Not many of us would ever get a chance to. Keep living your dreams girls. 💜
The cry ' Ooohha ' is chanted in religious ceremonies by the Iban tribes around the world as they offer offerings and sacrifices to their war spirits and gods alike so to bless them in wars and life as well. The chant ' oooohaaa ' is always said 7 times only.No more and no less...
You two are making me missing my childhood and hometown now. I never thought that my childhood was this great. I experienced all of this with my grandparents. We went into the jungle, rolling in the fern bushes, eating anything that we can pick in the jungle, just like what you two did. Before you two going back from the longhouse, can you two give some inspiration to those young kids? Maybe you can share with them about the importance of studying or something inspiring? I think a tourist just like you two can inspire those youngsters a lot better us(iban) can do.
U guys are experiencing one of the most (nearly) aunthentic Iban Long House experience 😊. Glad u guys are having a good time. Even other Malaysian haven't gotten to experience this.
Amazing video. promoting Sarawak and sharing with people the daily life at long house. such a great experience, thanks for the sharing. lot more to explore deep in the jungle. Bario, mulu, ulu ethnic ....waiting you two coming back
Hey Chai! Thank you so much for your comment! We would love to live here for at least 2 years so we could get into nitty gritty! We are hoping to come back next year!
Adidas Kampung is a generic name for cheap black rubber shoes that are usually made in Malaysia. Being made 100% out of rubber, they are waterproof, easy to dry, and thus ideal for trekking in tropical weather. Wikipedia i was surprised found it in wikipedia
Those are weaver ants. In Malay we called it 'kerengga'. They normally make nest by weaving leaves together. For those who loved climbing trees when they were kids, would know these ants would attack in swarm and they're relentless. The sound of screaming of ''Ahhhh'' while wiping them off your body and jumping off the tree, undoubtedly the best part of the whole experience. By the way, the chicken you had eaten might be the one who woke you up in the morning. :D . Just saying.
I think, you girls should come and visit Sarawak next June 2019. We gonna celebrating the Harvest Festival or locally called as Gawai Dayak Festival. It would be more festive and cheerful with foods, drinks and traditional dances in traditional costumes. ☺
both of you nailed it..the iban will be very happy when their guest get drunk at their longhouse..please come again to explore more longhouses..31st of june, a day before our festive season the gawai will surely bring more fantastic experience..i missed the gawai celebration for 8 years ..

Lol I live 3 more stops from this longhouse. I don’t really watch The 100 (watched half season 1) but I know what are you thinking. But really, nothing like the 100 ever happen here. But, just like you I always overthink whenever I ride the boat to go back to the city from Holiday. I hate river (and lake)I always think there’s something down there watching me. Like, some bad mermaids, or anaconda. Or crocodiles or any monsters that live down there lol
That's just brilliant, really enjoyed these longhouse episodes 👍 Justina you are just fearless girl but I love the fact you both get so involved. Cheers keep em coming 🇦🇺
Enjoyed every moment of your adventures in the jungles of Sarawak! You gals are unbelievable, especially Justina. Both of you displayed tremendous humanity, courage and character to do something that amounted to a leap of faith - to leave your comfort zones and plunged into the unknowns, mingling with the Iban people and lived their way of life. The worm eating and "tuak" drinking 'sessions' weren't easy, though you quickly got over them and moved on. Thanks for sharing the experience which is such an eye-opener, even to a Malaysian who thinks he knew* something about our fellow Malaysians in Sarawak. Kudos and hats-off to both of you, again. You deserve a medal! *knowing something is totally different from doing something. 😉😅
