While I am not interested in becoming a content creator, I appreciate this vlog, as you are offering help/tips for others wanting to grow their business. This speaks volumns about you and Charlie, your kindness to others.
your work ethic has been evident from day 1 since I started watching your videos (probably 2016). It has drawn me, motivated me and inspired me. You stand out as the most dedicated, hardworking person- who also truly enjoys her job. That attitude of yours is what draws such a dedicated audience to you. Kudos to you!
I completely agree! Josie is such a hardworking influencer, and I really hope she gets the success she deserves. I love her work, and it's clear that many draw inspiration from her fashion style and actually her lifestyle. It's surprising to see others copying her and gaining followers whereas Josie’s numbers aren’t so high, which shows that authenticity isn't always appreciated. It's a shame people can’t recognize the ‘original’ from the copy anymore.
I loved this q&a Josie! I think sometimes I find content creators hard to relate to as their lives seems so glamorous and ‘easy’ compared to the average person, and it probably is a little bit but I love seeing the behind the scenes, would love to see a true day/week in my life content with all the ‘boring’/behind the scenes parts of your day in the future
What a wonderful vlog!! One of the things I love about you is your ABUNDANCE mindset! Always so happy to share tips to help Others. It’s beautiful! Lots of love darling
From all the youtubers i watch, for me you are the most sincere and autentic one with what you say and do and present to us. I'm really shocked that you do not have millions of followers by now, especialy since you moved to the Cotswolds!!! Love everything you share! Hugs from Romania!❤
I love this video!!! Also don’t forget we want you to do a 12 days of Christmas for Charlie this year like he does for you!!!! I would love that so much!!! I think that is my fav when he does that for you!! That is such a great tradition for you guys! ❤
Loved this Josie! It would be fantastic to have a deep dive video on how you set goals, tips on staying organized and productive with work and life while having a flexible job, etc. It would add a lot of value because it applies to everyone, not just to people interested in content creation. Thank you! ❤
Josie, your positive attitude, personality, and work ethic is what makes you special and keeps me coming back to see your vlogs 3 times a week. Never be shy about saying that you work to earn money - everyone I know who has ever worked was working to earn an income.
Olympus! What an incredible video Josie! I have no interest in starting a UA-cam channel, but I still found you sharing your frank and honest thoughts incredibly interesting. What I like most is how you emphasized that having a good work ethic is the most important thing, and you gave examples explaining exactly what you did. I have been watching your channel ever since you moved to the Cotswolds, and it is my absolute favourite vlog/lifestyle channel. Keep reminding us at the beginning and end of each video to like and comment, because I often forget! Also, would love a podcast and would love to hear more from you and Charlie about how you run your home. (repairs, renovations, decorating, garden projects, etc).
Being one of your more mature subscribers, I kept thinking how proud your Mom must be with how your have grown into a wonderful woman with integrity, intelligence and compassion. Thank you for enriching our lives through your content.
I have followed you since April 2016. I was very poorly at the time having caught a very bad pneumonia from a patient. You got me through that Josie. I have stuck with you, and love how your channel has evolved. Both you and Charlie have been a constant through some very good times and some very bad times in my life the last 8 1/2 years, for which I thank you ❤ x
You’ve got a slow cooker , your simmering oven is one just bring whatever your cooking to the boil lid on and into simmering oven couple of hours or as long as you want doesn’t spoil perfect ! Try something.
Love seeing the brains behind the brawn! This is not only super helpful and inspiring but it’s so insightful to the work you (and others) do and how while even if it might look like an ideal job, it’s still a job and it’s not for the faint of heart. As a 9-6’er that has her go at UA-cam when there’s time, it’s definitely motivated me to jump back in! Thanks Josie for being so open and having and abundance mindset 💖
Josie your Q&A was so refreshing and your honesty is really appreciated. Particularly on your point around profitability vs. time and personal investment being a content creator vs. other types of jobs.
I am in my mid-30s, still working toward a career (I went back to school late), and have never been able to qualify for jobs that make me feel like I'm professionally 'winning', ie many, many service jobs. However, I learned years ago that even if I don't love my job and am not particularly proud of where I am, I go to work and give it my full effort. My goal is to leave my shift knowing that I did the best job I could do because if I can't feel like I'm 'winning' at having the best job, at least I can feel like I'm winning at being the best worker I can be, and that is what I can control. And it has paid off in that I have been offered jobs by people who have observed my work ethic and I am spoken of highly (or so I'm told), and that feels good that my effort seems to go noticed. So, I agree with your sentiment and piece of advice because I, too, live by it.
"Any job that you do, do it to the best of your ability": yes! I've always thought the same and that's the message I am trying to spread too. Thank you Josie, many people need to hear that ❤
📸 Olympus What a wonderfully refreshing Q&A. I know you called it spilling the tea but goodness, no one speaks so candidly about finances and what’s expected to stay in your business. What a clever head you have on your shoulders! I do so look forward to your vlogs as they’re always so calming and filled with antiques, gardening and home life. 🙌🏻
Thank you for being so incredibly honest in your Q&A! I really appreciate you "admitting" that you're driven to work as hard/much as you do by the money side of things. I don't think a lot of people would admit that, regardless of their job, especially not to tens of thousands of people.
I follow you for more than 7 years and I really think you are my favourite and I look forward to see your vlogs 🤍 You and Charlie are such amazing role models for me and I really admire you both 🤍 Keep doing such an amazing work 🤍 Lots of love 🤍✨
Absolutely loved this. I find your content so wholesome and your authenticity refreshing. I have no interest in being an influencer but I felt gripped with all the advice and information. Of all the people I follow on You Tube, I feel you are the most relatable, informative, giving, trustworthy and just the most lovely of them all. 😊
I'm rather new to your Channel, but have been binge watching to catch up a bit . . . The Italy trip was incredible! After this vlog, I have even more respect for you & your husband! You are both so honest, fun, authentic, hard working & aren't afraid to share all the bits that go into your successful businesses. Your character & integrity are admirable & I can see why people just love you as a beautiful human being inside & out. I feel fortunate to have found your Channel! Many thanks to you & your delightful husband! 🙏🏻❣️🙏🏻
Ironically, I followed you from the London vlogs on UA-cam but didn't watch regularly. I started watching your content regularly when you moved to the Cotswolds and I think it's because you're also enjoying it more (or at least it seems that way!) and expressing your own style and opinions
Olympus… ❤ What a great vlog Josie👏🏾👏🏾, Your honesty was greatly appreciated. Not much Influencers are this honest and authentic. This is why I always support you❤
Luckily there are laws in place now so hard working interns do not work for free. Sorry but you are sounding incredibly old fashioned. If companies want diversity they have to pay for the hours interns are working, if not you get the same type of person who can afford to work for free, the privilege.
That’s terrible if that’s the case, hopefully these younger interns know their rights and don’t wish to work in the toxic working environments of 10 years + ago.
That's the only part of the video that I found sad. Hearing that Josie worked for free for 2 years. A lot of people would starve or be buried in insurmountable debt if they tried that. I've had babysitters I had to pay in advance because otherwise they couldn't afford the public transport to get to my house... and I'm talking about adults... not neighbourhood kids. I'm glad Josie was fortunate enough to afford this... but needing to be paid for a day's work isn't a sign of entitlement
Josie I have enjoyed your videos and look forward to seeing your creative content each week. I’m 54 years old and a retired school teacher. I ❤️to garden , daily exercise, arrange flowers, shop the high street and eat anything cheese…..especially Mac n cheese. I’d like to say your content is so enjoyable and easy to watch! Thanks for your work!
This vlog goes far beyond business advice. I believe it can help hugely other content creators that are trapped in a bad mindset or fear of sharing, being honest etc. You spread so much positivity in a place that can be rather dark and competitive.. If only other youtubers would follow your steps! Not only it would help them with their own mental health but it'll benefit the whole industry and unlock many more possibilities. Keep it up Josie! Your best days are yet to come❤
This is the first video of yours I’ve watched and you come across as so honest and humble and grateful. It’s rare at your level on UA-cam. You’ve gained a new subscriber xx Olympus 😊
Always love your videos Josie! Long time watcher, first time commenter here, I cant believe it will be 10 years of UA-cam next year for you. The first video I watched was your wardrobe renovation when you were back in London and have loved being along for the ride ever since. p.s. love your *olympus* camera
I love and appreciate all the frank comments and honesty with this vlog. I don’t think a lot of us understand and appreciate how many people , you’re team , it takes to bring these videos to us. As an older viewer I agree with you that the younger generation or SOME of them don’t seem to want to do anything above their contract , they seem to ask themselves what’s in it for me and it’s not the attitude that will get them anywhere in life. We cooked a beef stew in our slow cooker this week for a whole day and had mustard mash and oh my goodness it was great and even better the left overs the next day ! Olympus 📸
Loved this vlog Josie, I'm not starting an online business but so interesting to see behind the iron curtain! I also really admired both your frankness and openness tbh and it was 😂 really refreshing to hear from a creator to be that brutally open...it was very refreshing to see a different side of your amazing personality!! Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing.. love your vlogs, there like coming home❤️🍁🍁🏡😂
Josie I found you last Christmas, had to stop this and search when you moved in, was watching you stressed waiting to move and packing in 2020, it is stressful waiting to complete, you can relax every day in your beautiful house ❤
Olympus! I drink my morning coffee in a travel mug to keep it warm. Thank you to both you and Charlie for sharing your life with us. As someone who does not have kids, I’m looking forward to see yours grow in the future.
Love watching your honest newbieness, im cotswolds born and bred and love the excitement and exuberance for the area/ lifestyle, also the mispronunciations are endearing xxx
Olympus! Another lovely vlog Josie. You and Charlie are always so generous with your knowledge and experience. The explanation of influencer marketing was a real lightbulb moment for me!
I bought the Canon Sure Shot in the 80's, and it truly was the first of its kind in the way that it got rid of those awful 110mm film cameras which we had been using in the 70's. Of course, the 35mm was around forever before that, but didn't suit most peoples' budgets. Film was always quite expensive to develop, compared to the Digital system we have today. Wonder what's going to be next?
I really appreciated your Q&A (could you put on the screen the questions next time?), thank you for sharing your journey with us! I would loooove more videos on fashion influencers, marketing, fashion psychology, etc. I remember you did a vlog where you explained why shops have the warm air at the entrance in the colder seasons and I found that fascinating. Excited for your vlogmas 🎄 olympus 😉
Josie, I rarely comment but I’ve watched your UA-cam for years, you and Charlie are such professionals and your honestly and openness is so wonderful. Congrats on your upcoming 10 years, bravo!!!!❤. Olympus!!!!
I've only just come across your content and I am so bloody pleased that I have . The honesty in this video is 10/10 . Talking about magazine advertising v social media advertising was brilliant. Cannot wait to binge and watch a back log of your content now 👏 👏
Doing everything to the best of your ability is good solid advice. Contrary to a few of the comments, the value of taking a job or internship that pays very little in monetary value but will reward hard work with opportunities and a reputation that precedes you, is invaluable. The experience and knowledge gained, sets the foundation for self security and the ability to achieve higher earnings throughout your life. Speaking as a female born without wealth or inherent opportunity, you can be anything you are willing to work towards. Thank you Josie for the great videos!
Olympus..loved this video so much..your honesty in answering the Q&A..gave me such an insight into how you achieve such hight quality videos and the work that goes into producing this..cant wait for christmas vlogmas this year..ive just binge watched last year s vlogmas as im new to your channel and what a warm and cheery and xmassy feeling its left me with thank you josie.x❤
My favorite video so far and that is saying a lot because I love your Christmas ones so much and cant wait until they come back in Dec! I adore seeing the pups and not sure what Olympus is about but I watched to the end.
I thank you for your open answers. The most interesting for me was, how you handed over the editing to Cloe. We as viewers weren't aware that someone else does it now. Which is a good thing. She is doing it your way. Phantastic
I think I first found you due to something mulberry related probably around 8-10 years ago. I may have watched a london house tour as well but I really got into your vlogs when you moved to the Cotswolds and I fell in love with your home and especially your garden. I enjoy your trips as well and your Christmas vlogs are an absolute treat. Your wedding vlogs were also spectacular. Now back to actually watching the entire video 😊😊 After watching the entire video it is clear why you are so successful, that advice of working hard, doing things to the best of your ability is great advice. I am in a completely different career to you and of an older age demographic but that advice has served me well too. OLYMPUS
Thank you for answering my question 😊. I've been subscribed for years, and even when I've gone through a period of not watching UA-cam at all, I will always go back and watch every single video you've posted because your attitude is contagious and I always end the video feeling better than when I started it. ❤
Definitely a light bulb moment when you were talking about magazines. Thank you for such a refreshing chat on these topics! I have so much respect for all the hard work you have put into building your platforms ❤
Josie, your vlogs are such treasures❤You have such a giving heart, you're a top notch presenter, a natural authentic personality and you show such excitement to share what you learn and what you are using. Not a bunch of flattery..... just a reminder. 😊❤❤❤Olympus.
Really fascinating Q &A! I was someone who, like you, always worked to the best of my ability. I took on projects that may have been a bit above my skill level but I was willing to learn and push thru to completion. That mind set served me well. I am under 60 and recently retired. Does luck play a part? IMO, yes. But the opportunity for luck comes from a groundwork of hard work. Also, for almost 20 years I was an editor. I would watch your content when you were editing and think how does she have time to sleep! LOL! It’s a lot of work to assemble, screen, cut, pick music, review and publish content. I’m glad you have Chloe! All the best to you, Charlie and the team!
Super informative and your attitude and abundance mindset is why I follow you. I love your content but how you handle yourself has made me a long term subscriber. ❤️☺️🙏🏻
I suppose I'm double commenting because I am just truly inspired by the way you talk about doing hard work, being a "yes" person, taking pride in your reputation etc. I love seeing this gritty side of you, Josie! Well done on this Q and A!
Thank you, Josie!!!! I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge in your industry. It's really encouraging to know you care and are willing to take the time to explain it so candidly.
Olympus! Thank you as always. Our slow cooker came out of hibernation a couple of weeks ago but we definitely don't use it to its full potential. I saw a recipe for making a brownie in there the other week. I'd never even thought of doing sweet treats in there!!
This channel is my favourite out of UA-cam, it’s unique and interesting of all kinds, you and one other (Emily Norris) both down to earth and lovely and are the only reason I watch UA-cam to be honest ❤️☺️
I really only watch two u tubers consistently Josie and middleagedminx . Both are very entertaining in different ways. Watching this lovely life unfolding is wonderful I love going along for the ride. 💋💋🇨🇦 Olympus
I appreciate this vlog and your candid responses to the questions! As someone who does influencer/brand ambassador marketing as well as owning a magazine, I concur with your statement about the different advertising metrics. Influencer marketing is way more transparent and easier to trace than print. While some older populations still prefer to read (newspapers/magazines), influencer marketing is much more effective with certain brands and demographics. Also, I just came across one of your videos a few months ago and I really enjoyed your content. I stopped making vlogs in 2019, but you definitely inspired me to start vlogging again! Thank you for the inspiration ❤️
Can't believe you're only just getting round to discovering a slow cooker - we were given 5 as wedding presents 38 years ago (needless to say we only kept one and gave the others away)! I use mine at least twice a month. Yes - Crock Pot is a brand. I wouldn't bother with the searing and frying beforehand - it really doesn't make any difference - just bung it all in! The whole point of a slow cooker is to use the less 'good' pieces of meat as the slow cooking breaks down all the slightly gristlier bits. I regularly put a whole chicken in mine - nothing else other than a bit of salt and pepper - and just leave it for a few hours at 'low' and it is SO tender. If you want to crisp up the skin just put it in the oven for 30 mins at the end. Btw it is 'draft' guiness - not spelled drought!
Thank you so much for this! I absolutely loved the Q&A it was so helpful as someone that loves creating content but sometimes struggles with what to film etc I found this so inspiring thank you ☺️ x
Olympus and definitely a light bulb moment. Again thank you for your honesty it is so refreshing. I must do better and liking your videos I am now running my own business and really appreciate it when people engage. x
Love this vlog! Its' amazing! Thank you so much for your advice and that your work is so ethical and in line with your belief. You're wonderful. Love your house and your cuties dogs! 💞
Josie, your answers make me love you even more, especially regarding hard work and doing your best! I so admire a person who has a good work ethic and takes pride in what they do. ❤
Josie, it is yours and Charlie’s honesty and work ethic that make this my favourite UA-cam channel, thank you 💕 I can’t think of a single thing fitting to say about an Olympus camera, but throwing it in there as requested 😂
When you became friends with Lydia Millen, it was surprising to me that her content began to closely mirror the most personal and intimate aspects of your life. You introduced her to your love of gardening, took her antique shopping, and welcomed her into your beautiful home-only for her to adopt all of your interests, right down to copying your two wonderful dogs, Dexter and Dickens. She even imitates your style, your authenticity, your values, and the way you laugh, although she presents it in a more glamorous and heavily edited manner which makes it appear "unattainable". I understand that people evolve and their interests change over time, but it's no coincidence that before becoming friends with you, Lydia was copying another friend, Zanna Van Dijk. Her home was a near replica of Zanna's. There’s always been something about her that felt off, and after looking into it, I found multiple instances of questionable behavior, including her mistreatment of her pregnant hairdresser. You’ve remained incredibly positive and strong, holding your head high while continuing to stay true to yourself. I’ve also noticed that Leonora Smee has started copying you-from your content ideas to your personality, even mimicking your laugh and phrases like Lydia. Leonora's lifestyle is quite similar to yours to be fair, but by copying your brand deals, and your traits is quite unfair. Your resilience inspires me to have the courage to be myself and to believe in my own worth. Thank you for the intimacy of the Q&A session, and for the lovely and true content your produce 🍓
Leonora has her own laugh and style. She shows different content and has been working with high net worth individuals and giving them luxury experiences. She models for famous English brands that our lovely Josie has never worked for. Leonora has repeatedly thanked Josie for her excellent advice online. Leonora worked for a top shelf fancy brand before starting her vlog. I think she might have picked up Lydia’s breathing noise perhaps. She has always had dogs, etc. I’m not seeing what you’re seeing with Leonora and except the tag line”my angels.” Cheers!
Genuinely this was fascinating, so refreshing and even though we have completely different careers I feel motivated in my work ethic! It's so transferable to all careers, thank you for your honesty, and keep the hard work going! ❤
You have a slow oven on your aga and it cooks slowly perfectly, you don’t need an electric one.i use mine all the time it’s the best thing give it a go you won’t be disappointed 😊
Josie, this was so valuable to hear! I am an Instagram blogger and it was interesting to learn the way you look at the job. Thanks a lot for sharing and opening up - it’s amazing how far you’ve come - such an inspiration. I just want you to feel that behind the great views you get there are so many people you make happier with what you do❤
I absolutely loved this video and with pleasure give the Olympus thumbs up. I've been following you for a long time now. This video was inspiring because it not only conveyed that you deeply care about your community. But, at the same you were very candid about your own benchmarks in this being a business for you that will continue to elevate. You've always been hardworking and passionate - this takes you to another level. Thank you for making it fun to keep following along!!!
Instead of a podcast do cotswolds fireside chats with Josie and Charlie❤
100% would be amazing
that's a lovely idea!
If she works so hard she should get her lazy husband off his backside and out to work instead of sponging off her😂
Yes!!!
Fabulous idea 😀The new Richard & Judy !
Josie when you said “Any job you do, do it to the best of your ability!” I love that so so much!

Oh, this is good! I want to do this for my husband and I need ideas! It's not easy when it comes to men's gifts...
I think he does an advent calendar for her. The 12 days of Christmas run from Dec 25 until Jan 6th.
@@erica3896 I know!!! That’s always what I love so much. That’s why I want her to also do one for him. It’s so sweet!!
I have always admired your work ethic. Thank you for being honest about your motivation; you and Charlie deserve your success.

The Aga simmering oven is a perfect slow cooker!

Luckily there are laws in place now so hard working interns do not work for free. Sorry but you are sounding incredibly old fashioned. If companies want diversity they have to pay for the hours interns are working, if not you get the same type of person who can afford to work for free, the privilege.
Yes thank goodness... but unpaid internships definitely still exist in the fashion industry!
I love how open you are, it’s why I keep coming back! There really is space for all 💛
Josie I have enjoyed your videos and look forward to seeing your creative content each week.
Your best days are yet to come❤
Ah I love this - thank you!
Fascinating to hear about the business side of your work. Thank you for being so upfront--and always so sweet!
This is the first video of yours I’ve watched and you come across as so honest and humble and grateful. It’s rare at your level on UA-cam. You’ve gained a new subscriber xx
Olympus 😊
Olympus 📸
Excellent video Josie thanks for being so honest and giving us such insight into this growing business, and it’s such a booming industry
What a wonderful video, such positive vibes. Have loved your content for many years ❤
Josie I found you last Christmas, had to stop this and search when you moved in, was watching you stressed waiting to move and packing in 2020, it is stressful waiting to complete, you can relax every day in your beautiful house ❤
Thank you josie . You and charlie, vlogmas, food and doggies my favourites and when you takes us to the theatres or concerts such a treat xx
Olympus ❤ absolutely loved the video, your honesty is refreshing and would love to see videos of you and Charlie sitting down together chatting xx
Excited for your vlogmas 🎄
olympus 😉
Josie, you & Charlie are so very generous with your knowledge. Your are so wondeful & appreciated. Much love to you two special people! :)
Thank you for a lovely chat! Had a pretty rough day yesterday and cooking dinner while watching this video made me relax ❤
Phantastic
I'm still nostalgic for the Covid vlogmas season. That was my favorite one by far ❤️
OLYMPUS
Excellent podcast. Besides fireside chats how about in the garden with Josie and Charlie depending on the season. Olympus!
Thank you for answering my question 😊. I've been subscribed for years, and even when I've gone through a period of not watching UA-cam at all, I will always go back and watch every single video you've posted because your attitude is contagious and I always end the video feeling better than when I started it. ❤
Don't mind mopping up the tea, I absolutely loved your honesty in the q&a! ❤❤❤
Olympus! I loved the Q & A. Please do more if you feel guided. Thanks!
Loved this video and getting to hear your insight into so many things makes me feel like we know you in even more depth. thanks for sharing x Syd, Aus
Olympus, thank you so much for answering all the interesting questions, totally loved it.
Olympus!
Great video, great Q&A... honesty is always the best policy.
This channel is my favourite out of UA-cam, it’s unique and interesting of all kinds, you and one other (Emily Norris) both down to earth and lovely and are the only reason I watch UA-cam to be honest ❤️☺️
Love Emily and Josie too❤
@@Csipkecske good choice ☺️
Olympus. Loved the green Ralf Lauren dress and the chat at the end. Thanks Josie
Olympus, truly enjoyed it. Much appreciate the honesty, you are the best. ❤
Josie, your answers make me love you even more, especially regarding hard work and doing your best! I so admire a person who has a good work ethic and takes pride in what they do. ❤
I know you don’t wanna do this for a living forever Josie, but so enjoying the journey while you share your life and beautiful content. ❤
I really appreciate your honesty in this q&a
Josie, it is yours and Charlie’s honesty and work ethic that make this my favourite UA-cam channel, thank you 💕
I can’t think of a single thing fitting to say about an Olympus camera, but throwing it in there as requested 😂
I’m not seeing what you’re seeing with Leonora and except the tag line”my angels.”
Cheers!
I just love how knowledgeable you are and how you share so much …. Just love everything you do Josie 💕💕
This was suuuuuch an amazing vlog! It’s so good!!❤
Im secretly hoping that you are creating your own (reasonably) affordable fashion line with beautiful classic outfits for all seasons 💗
Olympus! Thank you for the candid thoughts/advice! I would love to hear more.
Josie, this was so valuable to hear! I am an Instagram blogger and it was interesting to learn the way you look at the job. Thanks a lot for sharing and opening up - it’s amazing how far you’ve come - such an inspiration. I just want you to feel that behind the great views you get there are so many people you make happier with what you do❤
I could listen to you talk about business all day! Thank you for sharing so much. ❤
