My 1999 king quad starts but when I go out for a drive it will bake fire and stop and won't start back up intell it cools off then it will start but will just keep doing that I change the spark plug battery cdi literally went over the hole wiring harness and narrowed it down to it must be getting to much fuel I took the pedcock off and it was fine the carb gets fuel to it I am just confused at this point and I work manual labor to get it so I don't want to let it go

Is the fuel pump working. I removed the factory vacuum fuel pump and petcock and replaced it with an electric fuel pump, one that only pumps like 1 1/2 pounds of pressure.

@@xanderdeagle4173 my experience with my quad was it would run out of fuel. I let it sit and it would start up and run for awhile and quit running and wouldn't start. I figured that the fuel would fill the float bowl in the carb then the engine would drain the bowl. I decided that either the fuel pump couldn't keep up with the engine or just didn't work. I even tried to rebuild the fuel pump. I believe the pump operates off of vacuum. I don't know about yours but I'm sure mine could use new rings. I cured my problem by removing the factory fuel pump and replaced it with a low psi electric one.
