Yes, I like the songs at the beginning.
Thanks for your music. It comes through best wherever you place it. And your music comes through in all your thoughts and words about Buddhism.
Thank you!
Thank you for the video. Fun song. Viva Ziggy!
I imagine some in the Zen Centers you have spoken on recently practice Buddhism half-assedly too.
But if I am following, it seems the half-assedness is the same as the whole-assedness, but is not different from no-assedness. 🤣
Perfect change with the music
Yeah, my comment on the previous video was deleted.
It’s ok, I am a heretic among heretics, so I’m used to that kind of thing.
Love your work regardless.
At a couple of places the song reminded me of (alass, associative memory rears its questionable head, so did I really or truly hear the song?) and it seemingly felt like a mellow "Birds" song moment from the summer of love. "I love you" is sometimes said to be 'One word' in which, if we like, we can touch on it as three aspects appearing each as separate yet not in reality being separate. I-love-you as 'I' as one aspect, 'you' as one aspect and love as the reconciling aspect making the three that were in reality never separate back into One. We could consider our self, our beloved and the love as One. Love being something like that refined energy of consciousness that is not separate from sitting. Reality as if a never ending dynamic of the unfolding Light. Could it be that Reality of the Light brought about perception within Itself to reveal apparent separation yet it is only the One Light of all lights with only apparent separation of the many lights? Maybe the amorphous one Light wondered "what else is new" with this Light that is not other than this Light and suddenly "the goose is in the bottle" and now it is apparently a 'life or dead' matter to be able to realize: "The goose is out." There is the concept of summer and then there is the reality of summer; perhaps both your song and the Birds song reflected a bit of something beyond all concepts of summer? Who knows?
Love your translation. Will it be in a future book?
At first I heard “Kimyo”, which I am currently a bit obsessed with … from the Lotus Sutra I believe … Uchiyama Roshi discusses it and it’s been meaningful to me. In any event, this was awesome too and I’m excited for the podcast. Great shirts today, too! 👍🏽
Thank you. It's a fascinating concept. This notion of "light" appears in almost all mystical traditions. The Christians have it all over the place! Jesus is "The Light of the World," in Genesis God says "Let there be Light" and so on. In Buddhism it appears in the koan "One Bright Pearl" as well as many other places. It shows up in the Advaita Vedanta literature too. What is it with light? I'm hoping to get some sort of answer for the podcast.
@@HardcoreZen As a former Irish Catholic … light is everywhere in Christianity. 🔥
@@HardcoreZen more to include: in the Quran it is called the "Light of lights" and the Sufi sometimes call it the 'Light behind the sun'.
@@fineasfrog In physics, it unites matter and energy, measures space and time "infinitesimally", has qualities of particle and wave, enables life via photosynthesis, and so forth. It even has, at its "edges", something mysterious and primordial to it.
Master Shih-t’ou said, “A thousand kinds of sayings and ten thousand sorts of explanations are just intended to teach you to always be unconfused [not perplexed by conflicting situations or statements].” What is popular in groups nowadays is just nominal [existing or being something in name or form only] Zen study; to try to find even one person who is always unconfused is like trying to pick the moon from the sky.

I thought yesterdays video was well thought out and fine (as someone who didn't get the poke). Also, sorry for the lack of commenting lately. I have a lot of IRL stuff going on and hopefully I don't sound like a self-absorbed asshole mentioning that.
why oh why do pets always look like their owners...
And some couples look like eachother
I guess we are attracted to the familiar when it comes to life commitments
Am I as cute as Ziggy? No way!
@@HardcoreZen maybe a different kind of cute, but nevertheless cute 🤩
Nice ground cover.
Is this the "light" of Pure Land Buddhism? Amitabha Buddha, the Buddha of Infinite Light?
I would prefer if 10 second sections of the song were played, interleaved with 1 minute sections of the video.
That would be weird, I think. But it might be funny!
@@HardcoreZen I was only taking the requests for moving the song around to extremes, making it absurd in an attempt to be funny. Seems like it worked really well. lol
I enjoy them for sure, and am happy to see them wherever they end up.
I’d rather you played the whole song at the beginning ❤
Beginning or ending both the same....no saying either way for me. Yet we do need to have likes and dislikes as it were so we can be free of them. That is to say, not attached to likes and dislikes as a fixed something that is a reality.....just suggesting something.....no saying either way.
When you say you're recording a podcast, I'm curious -- what podcast series are you currently working on? I'd like to follow! :)
My podcast is hosted by Podbean. I haven't put any episodes since August of 2021. Here's the link to the main page. hardcorezen.podbean.com
