I ordered my Season 12 re-release through the link on your video (about it becoming available again,) the morning you posted it - So thank you very much for that.
I heard that the reason for the Season 12 re-release delay is that they packed Season 10 discs into the Season 12 boxes by mistake!
If true, that's interesting in itself, that they had enough Season 10 discs left over to do that.
So maybe there will be more re-releases of all seasons in the future.
After all, a 'Limited Edition' is only limited by just how much a company wants to make of it.

Me too. I don't want to spend the better part of £300 just to bring my collection up to date. Not that I got that kind of money to spare. I can barely pay my bills every month.
Like many fans of a certain age, I've spent a fortune on Target books (before videos!) then started collecting videos from the first release (Revenge of the Cybermen) before buying the entire DVD range and onto the blurays. As a result, I now pick and choose what I see as value for money, so won't blindly buy the new collection just because they're supposedly limited editions. That said, I have pre ordered the re-release of season 12, but I do warn those with more money than sense, that the BBC will always make these releases available because they are a business out to make profit! Needless to say I have a different policy regarding the new animations, which I'll preorder as soon as they are listed. Thanks for your UA-cam videos by the way. Well done.

I've always thought they may make these available again like the US releases are permanently available but as these are limited editions they may not appear in the form again. I wonder if they'll wait until all these limited editions have been released, then release a regular version more like the US releases that will stay on permanent release.`

I paid £280 for this in a charity auction that was signed by Tom Baker, John Levine, Phillip Hinchcliffe and 12 others. This was 26th August 2019, just as the first edition had sold out and I thought I was nuts at the time. (I already had them on vhs and dvd, and at the time, we didn’t know if this release would lead into the BBC releasing a “full collection”)
I contented myself that I was doing my bit for a good cause but when I saw them going for £300 on eBay for a standard edition I was perfectly happy with the price I paid.

Why aren't the BBC not releasing enough of these sets? There can't be that many being made if they all sell out within a day or so.
Is season 18 going to be re-issued next? I think we can agree the trend has been set what with seasons 12 and 14 being re-issued already.
I've always been curious about the faults on the first edition. I watched mine all the way through and didn't notice any problems. Therefore, I've never bothered to replace the discs. I assume it's too late now but I'm happy with what I've got.
I can't entirely remember the details myself. Think there was an audio track off somewhere... and also Michael Wisher's name was misspelt in the credits... I'm sure there was also plenty more than that!
There were three.
On Disc 3, the first episode of Sontaran Experiment had inverted left track. This meant that in stereo, the sound was spacey, in surround only rear speakers played, and in mono it was completely silent.
Disc 5 had issue with Revenge of the Cyberman part 1 where Michael Wisher's name was misspelled in credits as Washer
and Disc 5 had issue in Revenge of the Cybermen part 4 where the transition between last two scenes has a strange frame flicker.
You can still get them sent, i did it last month
Comprehensive commentary as always, buddy! Those prices though. Looks like S14 may go the same way as it’s showing as sold out on a few sites ahead of May release.

Unfortunately I just caved into eBay prices for Season 10, only finding about this collection back in January this year it’s been costly to catch up, so happy I was able to (hopefully) get a copy of season 12 at a normal retail price, still going to have to cough up another £150+ for S18 & 19 though to have my collection fully up-to-date. Luckily I’m in a good financial position that paying double for these isn’t an issue but still stings a bit to give into the people just looking to make profit.

It is incredible the prices some will pay. Imagine if Ebay put a cap on how high the price could be? Unlikely given they get a handsome chunk of the profits of course.

The whole thing is a rip off 😕 the box sets are snapped up during pre order period and then they are sold at extortionate prices on ebay. It looks like Season 14 will go the same way.

I find that when I put certain basic words into Ebay the items I am looking for don't always come up even though they are there. I put in a more convoluted set of words and there the item is. Not sure if other people have noticed this. It pays to try different combinations. Not fair on auction sellers if things are being missed,

Great video as ever Jason! Originally had the boxset way back when it was released and managed back then to get it for £35! Unfortunately had to sell it in September 2018 for moving costs and made a good return even back then of £220! Further managed to get replacement discs off the back of that and bought the slimline version off eBay. Also managed to bag a few other discs from the original release as someone was selling them separately so almost had all the original discs from first release! Sorry for the waffle just can't wait to have the boxset again in my hands then on my shelf to add to the esteemed collection but do have a spare Season 10 going cheap or not lol 😉

@@jarnopp Hi Jason, oops forgot to use my other account as real name is Tim but back to your query the slimline ones I can confirm are multi region (ABC) and play fine on my Blu-ray player. Never did find out though whether these still have the errors the original release had? I got mine reasonably at the time at £49.99. Must admit it fits better on the shelf! Can you imagine all the seasons limited edition collections on a shelf!? Now that calls for a serious Doctor Who Man Cave! 😁

You'll never believe this, but I actually spent £460 (with an extra £5 for shipping) on the first edition of this boxset (with replacement discs) in very good condition on ebay whilst I was in hospital (a secure unit), probably because I didn't have access to any story! That's Doctor Who fandom for you!

Jason Arnopp's Terrifying House Of Obsession that’s alright. I’ve wondered what would happen if they released a box set on the black and white seasons with animations and then actually found an episode from that season. Would they rerelease? And if they did would it include animations?
Barney hall id imagine fifth for season 21 since he is for most of the season. What would be interesting is if they just released the updated dvds which people could then replace in their dvd box sets

I saw this box set for £2500 on eBay. I actually messaged the seller and told here of the re-release and that his price was outrageous. But I got nothing back. Pisses me off. I'm glad I bought the USA copies

I just find to prices some are selling them at is obscene and yet they continue to do so even though they have re-release it.
Most important question now - will the repressing of Season 12 have all of the replacement discs?? Would be just like them to press the original dodgy discs all over again. Every set has problems

@@jarnopp well I accidentally bidded on a s10 booxset on Ebay and it turns out it was only the sleeve for sale with no dics why would someone sell the box but not the set?
The BBC really messed up here. They re-released it to make people happy but didn't print enough...again. what I find interesting is that apparently they printed enough to make the total number of copies between 1st and 2nd releases in line with the other seasons. So why is 12 so much more in demand? Is it because of how lucrative the first edition was that people or possibly opportunists are buying up pre-orders of the second edition? Is it just a far more popular season than any of the other releases, being the 4th Doctor's first? I'm inclined to think it's the former.

It's disgraceful so many people buy these up who clearly don't have any interest in Dr Who, they just want to make money. They cause the sets to sell out fast and, therefore, people miss out. Then they sell their copies to those people for ridiculous prices. I think if something is a limited edition, sites like Amazon should restrict sales to one copy per person. I almost wish I'd bought two copies of the first edition now, instead of just one. I could have made such a profit on the second copy. lol

To mY disbelief (prior to the announcement of the re-release) I spotted someone on ebaY trYing to sell a sealed copY of the original Season 12 release for £950.... no idea whether theY succeeded or not, but the ad was up for quite some time! I'm personallY quite dubious about whether these brilliant box-sets will hold their value, however; theY're supposed to be the absolute final format for the classic stories, but once 4K releases get fullY established, who knows? Time there was when it was supposedlY out of the question for classic Who ever to make it even onto Blu-RaY, wasn't there supposed to be a limit to the options to upscale anYthing originallY shot on video? Seems anYthing's possible given our progress in technologY!

One of my friends contacted HMV saying they will be getting season 12 back in the shops yesterday plus I thought was released yesterday only find out its March 30th so confusing to be honest....Thought I get it got one on ebay £69. If it's TRUE and HMV get s12 collection I be angry paying an extra £30.

My mate has just updated me you was right, as he went to Flopp that due huge demand season 12 was only be sold on line and sadly no shops will have season 12.
I wonder who actually pays over the top money for these releases? I understand that some people are truly 'money no object' people. Good luck to them. However, the majority of people do not fall into this category. Are we therefore talking about people who would pay this money rather than invest in their appearance, buy food for their children or even just some deodorant?

@@jarnopp When I got them I got one for around £50 and the other at around £60 it was a couple of months after they had sold out as well, I checked back recently though and they went up and season 10 at least os now selling for around £80, don't know about Season 18 though.
I also got season 23 from Argos, Preordered season 26 and managed to get what I think was the last season 19 in HMV

@@jarnopp I just checked cex there season 18 is also around £80, season 19 is around £70, season 23 and 26 are around £40 still and the first edition of season 12 for the now is around £150
I also just remembered that I actually did manage to preorder season 12 a week or so back, so I have nothing to worry about

Bought first edition on eBay for 100 pounds recently. Had even the replacement discs. I'm happy to finally get my hands on it, but I would have been happier if BBC weren't being cucks and released this set in the same capacity as the others. I don't understand how they managed to understock the same product TWICE.
