- May 6th, 2023 was yet another historical day for the New Mexico Steam Locomotive & Railroad Historical Society. Months of planning were put into moving their newly restored and operational steam locomotive, Santa Fe #2926, into the public eye. After performing successful test runs on their restoration grounds, which we were a witness to the first one, the date was set as May 6th, 2023. Hundreds and possibly thousands of Albuquerquians came out to witness this historic occasion. While it was only about a half-mile move down to the Tractor Brewery Company on 4th Street, this is just another step closer to seeing this massive locomotive speeding down the mainline, which is potentially not too far down the line. Regardless it was an honor to be able to witness this momentous occasion and I wish the best of luck to everyone down at the NMSL&RHS to keep this living history alive.

It won't be long till the 2926 and the 3751 doublehead.I can see it.
SP fans will be real quiet after that one drops.
Me to, and I'm crying 😢 it's so damn beautiful
Wonderful to hear that SF six chime again. Music to my ears. Especially the shot at 07:57 from far off along with the echos, send shivers down my spine.
They hit it hardest at 04:30, but a close up shot works well enough. :)
The new “Queen of the rails”. Your group should be very proud of what they’ve accomplished. Well done.
That whistle says it all, it has arrived!
Gorgeous. It’s nice to see 2926 stretch her legs, even if it was just a short while.
This wonderful debut reminds me of when Henry came back from Crewe in his rebuilt form. Very similar moments. If I was there, I would've gave her three cheers myself.
Same here
Absolutely gorgeous
The world’s most majestic steam locomotive.
She’s awaken!!
Congratulations! We are all looking forward to seeing her take to the rails!
Well done Jack! Looking forward to the potential this thing holds!
What a fantastic sight it is to see Santa Fe 2926 back in operation again, 2926 is now the largest operating 4-8-4 type locomotive in the USA as the ATSF 2900 class were among the heaviest 4-8-4 types ever built. Hopefully there will be some excursion passenger train tours later during this year, engine 2926 is a massive and handsome piece of steam powered equipment.
Welcome new excursion star. Santa Fe #2926 is back to steam on excursion service. We welcome you ATSF #2926. It's probably not gonna be long until ATSF #2926 and #3751 go on a doubleheader.
I would love to see both 3751 and 2926 do a mainline run side by side as the last two Santa Fe 4-8-4 Northerns in full operation for years to come.
Or doubleheaded would also suffice
@@williammacdonald3173 That too.
I love that sound !😊
0:58 she's has awakened, she's waited almost 70 years to get out and stretch her legs, that whistle blowing at the beginning was an amazing echo and her voice is back to her full potential, Rizzoli Locomotive Works such a great job repairing it
Awesome vid. I love that 6 chime, can't wait to see her under a full stack of smoke.
bros swiging the bell hard the engineer 💀
its normal
The bell is a automatic one.
Terrific! :D
Mmmmm 6 chime singing loud and clear....music to a true lover of steam ❤
Delighted Thanks 🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
To see this grandfather back in service

That is so impressive 😲 especially with that enormous 16 wheel tender.👍
Only a matter of time until she’s on the main line!
I really hope that 2926 does an excursion run over Raton Pass
Just awesome, best regards from Australia
What an excellent job you’ve done. We have some excellent locomotives restored here in Australia 🇦🇺 But nothing of this size 😮
city of canberra would be the closest
Can't wait to see her out on the mainline.
Good to see her finally moving under her own power!!! I absolutely love the Santa Fe railroad as well as this locomotive. Her whistle sounds incredible also I can’t wait to see her pulling her first excursion train!!!👍
The Boss Speaks.
nice job jack
is here the Santa Fe is Back in Business.
10:21 sounds like 6325
Would enjoy 3751 and 2926 doing a double headed steam excursion that would be awesome
Atsf 2926 está soando o atsf 6 chime whistle igual a voz do meu primo Guilherme
Congratulations
Superb! ❤👑
That is a monster locomotive
Oh she's FINE!! But the question is...what does that stack extender do? I know it fine tunes the draft, but how?
It's a smoke lifting device. its main job is to lift smoke out of the line of vision of the engine crew.
Fantastic video and coverage from the event!
1:06 for a santa fe 6 chime, it kinda sounded like 765 there!
Largest operating 4-8-4 lets go!
Atsf 2926 first excursion
1:11 is music to my ears…
Another thing. @4:53 at that point the whistle kind of reminds me of the Nathan K5LA steam whistle that was worn by Reading 2101 when she pulled the Chessie Steam Special. Am I the only one who thinks this?
I wanna see a quintet of 4-8-4 steamers, 2926 head, 3751, 844, SP&S 700, and 4449. Across the Western US
611 is also a 4-8-4 northern
Now we have to see if 3751 and 2926 will double header
Don’t forget to add 4960 for a tripleheader too!
@@brianfalzon6739 No. 4960 isnt even work on ATSF
Atsf 2926 meet 3751
Who was at her throttle at this event?
The engineer for 3751 Matt Casford
How many ATSF steam locomotives are operational?
5
Atsf 2926
😊😂❤😅.
What railroad will 2926 Run on
The society is working with the state of New Mexico to operate excursions on NM DOT tracks.
I'll bet this group is itching to let her loose on a mainline.
Nice looking 4-8-4!🛤🚂
