    There are a lot of recipe's on UA-cam but yours is the only one where the cook is called "Mr. Good Lookin' " and the "Better half" has to constantly remind him how to do the cookin'. You guy are fun and the recipe's are always good. Keep'm coming.

    I'm going to try this in a crock pot this year. My oven warmed hams always seem to be too dry.
    I actually like the glaze that comes with the ham. I usually mix it up and use it on sandwiches for a flavor boost.
    Great video.

    yo, everyone in America needs to cook their ham in a crock pot!!! seriously great recipe!! I didn't have the pineapple so I substituted with organic, sugar free Vermont apple sauce (no artificial sweeteners, just apples), apricot jam, and some water . I followed the recommendations for brown sugar and real maple syrup. sooo juicy and tender

    The best ham I have ever had was a spiral ham coated in spicy brown mustard and brown sugar. My mom baked it in her oven but I think a crock pot would do just as well.

    I ran into a problem with my ham fitting, and I only had foil sheets that would not fit with a good seal. I used a crock pot liner over the top and it worked out so well.

Anyways, I may have to omit the measurements of the ingredients to put over my ham steaks since I like it better than something else I seen with brown sugar, apple cider vinegar 🤢 and mustard.. love you guys stay safe and stay blessed 💕

    Pineapples contain citric acid, that is why it makes the ham tender(er).. you can use fresh or canned, there is not really much difference, except that some canned pineapple has preservatives in it.

    Ham is the best meat deal in the meat dept of any store. When on sale for less than $2 per pound it can’t be beat. And like they said you can make so many meals out of one ham. I always cook a big ham even for the two of us then freeze the rest to use in sandwiches, soup, casseroles etc I just portion off what I think we won’t eat in a day or two and divide it up in freezer baggies and put in the freezer. Ham freezes and thaws out great.

    Papain is only found in fresh pineapple. The canning process destroys the other enzyme. But yes,the sugar and acids in the juice and the fruit itself help tenderize the ham. I always cook mine with the pineapple as well as the juice.

    • @tammycampbell7797
      @tammycampbell7797 5 років тому

      Sorry, papain is found in papaya, not pineapple. The pineapple enzyme is called bromelain. Both are digestive enzymes.

    • @MikeyGoode

      +RCRB V16 Check the instructions on the ham itself. You're gonna want to cook it to the internal temp recommended on the packaging so use a meat thermometer. Typically you'll want to heat it to 140° (if labeled "cooked") or if it doesn't have a USDA label, cook it to 165° internal temp. A "cook before eating" ham needs to be at least 145°. That'll take probably 5-6 hours, but again we recommend using a meat thermometer.

    Is the pineapple juice essential to the mixing of flavors or is it just personal preference? Would orange juice be a good substitute?

    • @MikeyGoode
      @MikeyGoode  7 років тому +1

      +Joel Thompson Pineapple juice adds a sweetness to the ham. I'm not sure how orange juice would taste overall (but now I'm tempted to try it!) I bet apple juice would be GOODe though!

    Take the pineapples out of the open can and put in a covered container iron and tin can seep into the food and taint the flavor
