YYZ is from their 1981 album Moving Pictures, which was recorded at Le Studio in Morin Heights, Quebec. Alex is a licensed pilot, and he was once flying them home for the weekend when Neil heard YYZ being transmitted in Morse Code, and an idea was born; on subsequent tours, whenever they saw YYZ on their luggage tags, they'd know that they were heading home to their families. The composition was meant to represent the hustle and bustle of moving through a busy airport, with a brief pause in the middle to reunite with family and friends. For more of the best from Moving Pictures, here are my suggestions: Tom Sawyer, official music video Limelight, official music video Red Barchetta, Exit Stage Left 🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
Rush is made up of just three extremely skillful musicians. When you get more familiar with them you will find that they are usually just as good live (if not better) as in a studio. You’ll get more amazed at how much sound they create with just three people. The greatest achievements are already being spoken of by others comments. But they’re failing to mention probably one of their greatest is 2112 overture with the temples of syrinx. I do recommend that as well as Tom Sawyer of course. But if your new with Rush and it absolutely doesn’t matter which version or where you get it the Spirit of Radio would be a great start on listening to them. YYZ is the code for the Airplane landing In Canada.
I was going to request Spirit of Radio, but I honestly wasn't sure that Rush would be in your groove. One of the best three piece bands in rock. Thank you.
I was there. Well, uhhh, not in Rio, but in the Netherlands. About the same, is'nt it??🤣🤣 One of the greatest live bands i've ever seen. EARTH SHINE is one of my favorit RUSH songs. Thanks for this one 👊❤👍
🏆This is so great! I've enjoyed your channel for quite a while now, never imagining that you would do a reaction to my favorite band. I know you will enjoy this, and hopefully, do more RUSH reactions in the near future! Thanks so much! 💐💐💐 Hope you feel better soon!
You owe it to yourself to also listen to the studio version of this song so you can really hear the separation of the instruments. These are 3 musical geniuses.
Working Man, live in Cleveland. You will see one of the best live performances ever. Rush has an A1 play list over 4 decades, a very deep rabbit hole to go down - but awesome music and musicianship. Enjoy…
Hello from Brasil! From Rush I also recommend the live videos of "Xanadu", "Red Barchetta" and "Freewill" from the show "Exit: Stage Left" and the live video of "Tom Sawyer and "Subdivisions".
This song is off their Moving Pictures album. YYZ is the call sign for the Toronto control tower at the airport. Thankyou for the video you cool music lover.
I have read that when they went down to Rio, they honestly had no idea how many people even knew who they were. Must have been one heck of an experience form their point of view, as well as the audience.
Rush.... Medley, By Tor and the Snow Dog, In the End, In the Mood, Grand Finale from the Exit Stage Left concert...Fasten your seat belt for this one ! It about 12 or 13 minutes long.
Love your vibe! I'm here for more Rush! YYZ is from their 1981 album "Moving Pictures" and was featured in Guitar Hero II, so yeah, you can put it on your phone. ;) Neil Peart ("peert, not "pert") - drums and almost all of their lyrics. "Your favorite drummer's favorite drummer", widely considered one of, if not THE, greatest rock drummer in history. Certainly top 3. He has influenced generations of drummers, notably Danny Carey of Tool. Neil was a great thinker, drummer, and poet. Died January 2020, and the world is darker for his loss. Geddy Lee - bass, vocals, keyboards, and pedals. Considered to be one of the best and most influential bassists in rock, this multi-tasking genius is one of the secrets of Rush's lush, big sound, a sound many larger bands struggle to achieve. Rush does it with just 3 guys. Alex Lifeson - Probably the most under-appreciated rock guitarist. His innovative solos range from soulful to face-melting. He is also the goofball of the group. He and Geddy knew each other from middle school and formed the band together in 1968. Rush's career was from 1968-2015, so there's a LOT to dig in to. Here's a start: Working Man (Live in Cleveland 2011 Time Machine tour), Xanadu (Live, 1981 Exit Stage Left tour), Spirit of Radio, Limelight, Freewill, Subdivisions, Red Barchetta, Tom Sawyer, La Villa Strangiato (studio or official video), By-Tor and the Snow Dog, 2112 (the whole thing, please. I know it's 20 minutes long, but it's a story and a journey), Anthem, Bastille Day, The Big Money, Territories, Red Sector A, The Weapon, Scars, The Pass, Kid Gloves, Between the Wheels, yeah, there's a LOT! :D
It is a track from their album Moving Pictures. Rush have a number of pure instrumentals, anothe great one is La Villa Strangiato. Other great songs would be Freewill, Subdivisions, Xanadu (the live version from Exit Stage Left is unbeatable) Between the Wheels, Limelight, The Spirit of Radio, and Closer to the Heart.
This is a track on their 1980 album Moving Pictures. Other great tunes on that album are...ALL OF THEM! But "Tom Sawyer", "Limelight", and "Red Barchetta" are the most popular ones.
Drummer Neil Peart RIP. In the early days he would get off the band bus miles away from their next concert and ride in his too see the country side and see people. He was shy, He never came out from behind his drum set to take a bow until the last concert. In the later days he was riding a motorcycle around the country/city where they were going to play. AND - It seemed like they were always on tour for decades
The studio version from 1981 (Moving Pictures album) is available, and excellent. Rush is a deep and vast rabbit hole to go down. So many great songs, but my suggestion for a next listen is *Spirit of Radio.* It's an upbeat banger that's notorius for completely blowing away uninitiated reactors, lol.
Saw Rush 18 times ! Wanted to recommend them doing The Spirit of Radio from the Maple Leaf Gardens concert,1984. Also The Camera Eye from the Time Machine tour.
YYZ is a track from their Moving Pictures Album. Let me just add you have only just begun on the journey that is RUSH. I would suggest Working Man, Live in Cleveland, Neill Peart drum solo Live in Frankfurt
You gotta do a video reaction to their drummer Neil Peart’s drum solo live in Frankfurt 2004. The instrumental YYZ song is on their 1981 Moving Pictures album. I recommend songs that you check. Songs like The Spirit Of Radio, Subdivisions, The Analog Kid, Far Cry, Caravan, One Little Victory, Working Man, 2112. I saw Rush five times in concert. If you want to check their instrumentals here’s The Main Monkey Business, Hope, Malignant Narcissism, Limbo, Leave That Thing Alone, Where’s My Thing and La Villa Strangiato
The studio version of that is on the "Moving Pictures" album. You should also check out the Official Video of "Malignant Narcissism" which is also an instrumental.
Love the energy in your reaction, so, I'm a new subscriber. 😊 Love Rush and saw them 5 times, more than any other band, but I loved going to a large number of different concerts, or it would have been more, and I'm Ritch, not rich. 😒
La Villa Strangiato by RUSH.... thank me later.....btw....Neil Peart (RIP) is perhaps the greatest Percussionist EVER....and regarded by many in the music business as the Greatest! Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil.....what a band!!!
The 1st Rush hit was "2112". Instantly my favorite group. Then "Tom Sawyer" and "Fly By night" followed by "Spirit Of The Radio" - But there is the concert footage with front loading washing machines on stage. Must see to believe.
Rush has a wide range of tonalities and emotions. If you want to keep it fun, listen to Spirit of the Radio next. If you want some more intensity go for Freewill or Subdivisions. So nice to see you bouncing along to Rush!!
Yes, this is a song on their album "Moving Pictures" and you can get it separate on your phone, but you will be getting others if you go down this rabbit hole. I suggest 'The Spirit of Radio' next, it is my favorite. 👍😁🤘
OH MY GOD!? I posted the last one before comments were over. Anything else by Rush?? There's going to be a landslide. lol Further to below, THE BEST THREE PIECE BAND IN ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY, and one of the GREATEST bands in history period.
Please, please, please Angela, more Rush!!! Start out with Spirit of the Radio, Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Red Barachetta, Subdivisions. I will stop there. 😎👍🎸🥁🎶
Rush? I'm going down your old vids didn't think I'd find my fave band on it. Also did Pink Floyd I wonder if you've done Tool, Porcupine Tree, Mastodon or Opeth?? My sojourn continues....
Thanks gorgeous! RUSH is definitely a very prolific, dynamic and influential band. The drummer, Neill Peart, is widely regarded as one of the top 3 rock/prog/metal mechanics in the business. AND the writer for most of the lyrics. If he weren't already one of the best drummers, EVER, he would be more recognized for his writing. Seems unfair to hog up all the accolades but the recognition and list of awards he holds is evidence enough of his skills, artistry and dedication to his mastery of the instrument. He elevated the drums from percussion to fully recognizable and indispensable musical instrument. Equally talented and unfairly overlooked are Geddy Lee on bass, keys and vocals, and Alex Lifeson on guitars/strings. How lucky am I to have seen them live on their farewell tour? I didn't know it was their farewell tour. The catalog of bonafide hits is amazing but the complete works is even more impressive. '68 to 2018 is 50 years of material in an industry that is notorious for chewing up and spitting out artists. The RUSH fan base is huge and generous of spirit and will keep you busy for a long time.
Rush has a vast catalog - Spirit of the Radio, Headlong Flight… way too many to mention. Also, you should give Genesis another try. Abacab is not their greatest. For something more pop try Follow You/Follow Me or No Reply At All, and from their prog era try Firth of Fifth, Carpet Crawlers or I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe).
This is from the Rush in Rio concert DVD. They also released this as an album. Rush left us with about 10 outstanding concert DVD'S. Try the song Xanadu from the Exit Stage Left concert.
Do yourself a favor and listen to YYZ live on the Clockwork Angels tour. They have an actual string section performing with them and it is mindblowingly incredible. As good as the Live in Rio version is, the Clockwork Angels version is BETTER.
You know you're badass when you can perform a 10 min song with no words and the crowd sings the entire time
It's a great way to get around the language barrier
@@miconis123 Music is the universal language :)
Also math. lol
Xanadu, from Exit Stage Left, is simply one of the most amazing pieces of live recorded rock music you will ever listen to. Simply stunning.
Wow. Dancing to Rush... You just made 5000 guys love you!

Spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer, and Subdivisions are all musts
I was inside this crowd, babe! This was Maracanã Stadium, november 23, 2002, Rio de Janeiro (i live near to Rio). One of the best shows in my life.
Rush is made up of just three extremely skillful musicians. When you get more familiar with them you will find that they are usually just as good live (if not better) as in a studio. "Snake Charmed", lol. That tickled my funnybone.
I was going to request Spirit of Radio, but I honestly wasn't sure that Rush would be in your groove. One of the best three piece bands in rock. Thank you.
Yes ! Spirit of Radio from the Maple Leaf Gardens concert,1984 !
You one of the most genuine people on social media thank you
YYZ is the identification code for Toronto Pearson International Airport. (Rush started in Toronto.)
I was there.
Well, uhhh, not in Rio, but in the Netherlands.
About the same, is'nt it??🤣🤣
One of the greatest live bands i've ever seen.
EARTH SHINE is one of my favorit RUSH songs.
Thanks for this one
👊❤👍
Great reaction! Check out Rush - Working Man Live in Cleveland!!! ...and then Rush - Tom Sawyer, the studio version
🏆This is so great! I've enjoyed your channel for quite a while now, never imagining that you would do a reaction to my favorite band. I know you will enjoy this, and hopefully, do more RUSH reactions in the near future! Thanks so much! 💐💐💐 Hope you feel better soon!
My heart swells! So proud to be Canadian. It's on "Moving Pictures" 1980
The intro to the song spells out YYZ in morse code (-.---.-----..) It's the code for Pearson International Airport near Toronto, Rush's hometown.
Enjoy…
3 men !!!!!!!!!!!!! yes 3 and this song is just everything SO talented !!! Our forever loved Canadian band RUSH!
I can not believe this song did NOT win the Grammy for the Best instrumental song.
True crime.
Saw Rush in 79 , great show I remember thinking wow 3 guys making all that music happen, really impressed, thanks again!
Every time we saw Rush live....the crowd is amazing!!! And when this song came up.....we went nuts!
Thankyou for the video you cool music lover.
thanks for the wonderful reaction yes it is on the moving pictures album and tom sawyer is probably going to be requested a lot
THEY ARE SINGING ALONG TO AN INSTRUMENTAL. SINGING. TO AN INSTRUMENTAL. That’s just epic.
I have read that when they went down to Rio, they honestly had no idea how many people even knew who they were.
Must have been one heck of an experience form their point of view, as well as the audience.
This was great!!! Thanks Angela!
Excellent choice!!!! My favorite band! ily Angela!!!
More Rush? Lime Light, Spirit of Radio, Free Will, Working Man, Tom Sawyer, Fly By Night, Red Barchetta, The Trees...to start with 😉😬
Wanna take the deep plunge? How about 2112?
it's from what is my favourite album of theirs Moving Pictures it came out in 1981, the whole alum is amazing.
Rush.... Medley, By Tor and the Snow Dog, In the End, In the Mood, Grand Finale from the Exit Stage Left concert...Fasten your seat belt for this one ! It about 12 or 13 minutes long.

Tim (love your handle)... great intro for the band and thanks for that.
And a nice playlist to get her started, too.
A beautiful woman listening to Rush...doesn't get any better!
It is a track from their album Moving Pictures. Rush have a number of pure instrumentals, anothe great one is La Villa Strangiato. The slow and mystic part , is the plane landing at the airport.the song intro is the international airport code for Toronto Canada.

Rush was one of about 5 bands I'd pay to see. SO MANY great songs to choose from.. Try Spirit of Radio
I did pay for them. About twenty times. They were absolutely worth it. One of the few bands that sounds better live than on the recording.
Red Barchetta, Freewill, Spirit Of The Radio, and Tom Sawyer are some of my favorites
I Love your dancing,very nice!
This song appears on the bands "Moving Pictures" album (1981).
Yes, the studio album version is for your listening pleasure! It's from the early 80s from the album "moving pictures"... an excellent album BTW !
I would suggest Working Man, Live in Cleveland,
Neill Peart drum solo Live in Frankfurt
You have just experienced the 3 virtuosos on top of their game
You gotta do a video reaction to their drummer Neil Peart’s drum solo live in Frankfurt 2004. The instrumental YYZ song is on their 1981 Moving Pictures album. I recommend songs that you check. Yes you can definitely find it on all the livestream platforms. Rush has quite a few instrumental jams and this is definitely one of the best!
DayOne was in the zone!!! =;-D
That's what I call fame...it was Rush's first time in Rio, and that HUGE crowd sure looked like they'd been waitin that long to see them!!
The studio version of that is on the "Moving Pictures" album. You should also check out the Official Video of "Malignant Narcissism" which is also an instrumental.
A JAM indeed
Me: (pick the Rio version, pick the Rio version)
...
YES!
By the way, there is a studio version on their great album, "Moving Pictures".
Grew up in the 70's playing drums going to concerts, Rush was one of my favorites, if course. Love their early stuff..sounds like this is from Chile.
Love the energy in your reaction, so, I'm a new subscriber. 😊 Love Rush and saw them 5 times, more than any other band, but I loved going to a large number of different concerts, or it would have been more, and I'm Ritch, not rich. 😒
Try La Villa Stangiato, Natural Science, 2112 and Working Man Live in Cleveland. The list of songs to hear eventually would be all of them lol.
La Villa Strangiato by RUSH.... thank me later.....btw....Neil Peart (RIP) is perhaps the greatest Percussionist EVER....and regarded by many in the music business as the Greatest! Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil.....what a band!!!
YYZ - music by Lee and Lifeson, lyrics by city of Rio de Janeiro

Working Man live in Cleveland. Ya. Jam.
Exit Stage Left version is better IMHO

I wonder if you've done Tool, Porcupine Tree, Mastodon or Opeth??
My sojourn continues....
Thanks gorgeous!

YYZ IS TORONTO PEARSON AIRPORT CODE YYZ
I'd recommend 'Subdivisions'. It is about being an outsider and experiencing alienation. Powerful song!
For the love of God, it's Y-Y-Zed....
Do yourself a favor and listen to YYZ live on the Clockwork Angels tour. They have an actual string section performing with them and it is mindblowingly incredible. As good as the Live in Rio version is, the Clockwork Angels version is BETTER.
