I actually stopped trying to make stylized skies for awhile because I was having such a difficult time finding material that properly explained it. Thank you so much for this!

Would definitely love a tutorial for it. I'm trying to make a stylized skysphere for my game. With a day night Cycle. I've messed with this tutorial before, and found that when I changed the images I ended up seeing the lines on the skysphere itself. So a full in depth tutorial would be awesome. And even setting up materials, such as landscape for day night cycles. I find that no matter what I do, I get the sun bleed from beneath the landscape. There are so many things I wish people who do tutorials would show that can help with potential issues you run into.

This is so amazing, it was hard to find someone who really used the skysphere available as well as custom use so this was perfect for understanding how to do this thank you very much for this video!

For anyone wondering how to do the sky sphere texture in gimp, do Layer>Transform>Offset. Then instead of the measurement being px, select "%", then type 50 in the X and press OK.

Great tutorial! I was wondering if there's a way to make the cloud layers as full on visible RGB projections that act sort of like a moving wallpaper. Mine are sadly just white blobs without any of the colour/texture that I painted in PS. Any advice would be highly appreciated!

What do i type in the node search to get that dark blue lerp previewing node that you have at the end of the cloud textures section?

hi! Loved the tutorial. Only problem for me is that the skysphere is too bright at night, there is a white sheen over the stars. How do i make the night sky darker?

    • @AntlerStudios

Hey! I would suggest playing with the lighting setup & Post processing (exposure settings mainly). If you want to change the automatic sky colours (based on sun position) you can do so through the colour curves in the BP_Sky_Sphere.
For me, the sky is fine at night so I'm guessing it must be something with your scene setup :)

why are my changes not taking place when i modify the material instance? My textures also don't show when i imported them to replace the default ones.

That's a great tutorial. Can the sun create rim light on the cloud or shadow when it goes behind the cloud ?

I changed the sky background image in the material but it changed absolutely nothing when i placed the skybox object into the level. Any one know why this would happen?

You can probably make something very similar in UE5 but I doubt the process is exactly the same!
