    Love the idea of covering the pegboard!

      Thanks. I like my colorful print. Some days it feels a little busy but it makes me happy anyway. (And did I mention I applied it with spray glue? I sprayed the pegboard, laid the fabric on top of it, and wrapped maybe an inch of it around the sides and to the back.)

    My fur baby sleeps at my feet while I sew too. I had been sick for a few days and wasn’t up to sewing. Bless her heart, she went to the room and cried until I sat at my machine. So sweet.

    Great sewing room. Love the idea to store patterns and also the ironing top you made. I also believe you should cover your fabric to keep away from sunlight. Don't you just love Ikea. Thank you so much for sharing.

      Thanks :-) Yes, I rely on Ikea for most of my furniture. You can find a lot of "solutions" there.

    Thank you for sharing. Like your idea for pattern weights. Have a bunch of those tins waiting for an opportunity to recycle. Nice room, well laid out and organized. Like, too, the way you covered your pegboard.

      Oldtimer Lee If you use the tins for weights you’ll find that they glide very smoothly across any type of paper. I made cloth weights too but I always reach first for the tins. Thanks for watching.

    Your sewing room is great! I love that you've thought of everything to keep it organized and pretty.. The fabric-covered peg-board is my #1 favorite idea. Thanks for sharing your space!

      Thanks! It's not always organized - sometimes it's chaos but at least when I do take the time to clean it up I know where most things go.

    I love your pressing table! Next year, we are moving and I get my own sewing room and I think I will adopt your cutting board idea. So simple, but lovely and efficient. Thank you!

    • @TheDailySew
      @TheDailySew  5 років тому +1

      I really think it's the best tool I have after my sewing machine. I use it as an ironing board, I put the cutting mats on top when I need to cut or trace patterns, and pins can go into it to hold down fabric parts if needed. You'll love it. Just remember to use 100% cotton batting and fabric to cover it so it can stand a hot iron.

      Thanks. I'm usually organized and yet messy at the same time. But knowing where most things are keeps me sane ;-) And Basso says he is a cutie and thanks you for noticing. He adds that he's also a good dog.

      Bethany B thanks. It took years to find the “right” place for everything and actually I still change it up if I think it will help me get my sewing done quicker. I keep reading you should make your environment support you and for the sewing part of my life I think I got it. No comment on my other environments. Thanks for watching

      Second to my sewing machine I think this table is my favorite sewing tool. Well, it's the most practical and used tool after the machine. My favorite is the pegboard because it's so colorful ;-)

    How did hang your pegs through the fabric? Brilliant and decorative idea.

    • @TheDailySew
      @TheDailySew  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you. Before I put the fabric on the board I had to sort of plan where I was going to hang what. (I took lots of pictures ;-) I attached the fabric to the board with spray adhesive. It's been at least 3 years and it's still holding just like the first day. Then, referring back to my pictures, I counted over and up how many holes - you can feel the holes through the fabric. When I got to the hole I wanted to use I poked an awl through the fabric to make a puncture. I used my sewing awl, but any sharp, pointed object should work, a nail maybe? You have to get a hole in the fabric with something other than the hooks; they couldn't breakthrough but they could stretch a small hole larger to fit.
      I did move some hooks around later and the holes that were left sort of disappear in my busy print.

    Would you be so kind to share with us where you purchase your fabric? :-))

    • @TheDailySew
      @TheDailySew  3 роки тому

      Oh my goodness :-) the true answer is; Too many places! Currently, I buy all my fabric online because our two local, apparel-focus, fabric stores have closed.
      My favorite online fabric stores are:
      Stonemountain & Daughter stonemountainfabric.com/ - for most fabrics
      Emma One Sock www.emmaonesock.com/ - for unusual fabrics and prints and for lining
      Fabrics-Store fabrics-store.com/ for linen
      Sometimes:
      Mood www.moodfabrics.com/
      Fabric.com - but check your order as soon as it comes in because they haven't always sent me the correct amount and they aren't great at catching their mistakes
      Girl Charlee Fabrics www.girlcharlee.com/ for knits
      Non-fabric but Sewing purchases:
      Wawak www.wawak.com/ I buy all my thread and other supplies from them
      the best interfacing, hands down, comes from Fashion Sewing Supply www.fashionsewingsupply.com/ You can't do better
      And zippers I buy through a wonderful etsy shop Zipit Zipper Supply www.etsy.com/people/zipit
      I've had a good experience with all these places (less than great with Fabric.com but they did fix their mistakes). Other stores I'll droll at but haven't yet bought anything (www.tessuti-shop.com/). And when I visit a city that has an independent fabric store I try my best to get in there.
      Thanks for asking. This was a fun question to answer. Now I need to quickly close all those tabs before I buy anything :-)
