ABBA was a group from Sweden--two married couples. They were extremely successful, internationally. I think they had multiple #1 songs in almost every European, Australian, & American markets. I got hooked on ABBA back in 1977 with the song Knowing Me Knowing You and that affection has not diminished. They are incredible. Timeless, flawless, pop GOLD. The songs never lose their appeal. They produced an exceptional catalogue of songs enjoyed by all ages. They will never be bettered IMO
What you often hear with ABBA, Twon, is an undercurrent of inspiration from classical music. Disco really shouldn't be timeless, but ABBA's is...and that's why. In particular, they use a ton of baroque style counterpoint...
nice to see your first reaction to ABBA songs this is a Masterpiece of ABBA a deep lyrics about divorce by the guitarist Björn And a fantasic interpretation by the lead singer Agnetha Fältskog (his ex wife) with her emotional and powerful voice in the same album of 1980, the opening track was "Super trouper" with the lead voice by the other singer, the brunette Frida You could check it to react and see the different voices of ABBA both songs was #1 in UK Official Charts ABBA was a swedish pop group that leads in 70s in Europe specialy
ABBA were huge. Swedish pop supergroup from 1972 through to 1982 and are due to release more songs later this year (2021- almost 40 years after the group split). Check out ‘Dancing Queen’, Knowing Me, Knowing You’, ‘The Name Of The Game’, ‘Chiqitita’, Fernando’, ‘SOS’, ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Super Trouper’, ‘Waterloo’ , ‘Honey, Honey’, Take a Chance On Me’ and so much more.

ABBA we're the consumate professionals & Perfectionists, they worked & worked until they got it right. They we're fairly big in America but colossal around the rest of the world. One of the biggest selling bands of all time globally. Nine No 1 singles in The UK alone at the time when vinyl sales we're at their peak. A few years ago they were offered 1 Billion Dollars to reform and do some concerts but they turned it down. It's been almost 30yrs since they split but they still sell around 4 million albums worldwide every year. Two hit movies (Mamma Mia & Mamma Mia - Here We Go Again" & a mega-successful stage show again called Mamma Mia & you've never heard of them!!! Hmmmm, anyway this is a wonderful song about a woman in a relationship who "Played by the rules" & got cheated on. It knocked her confidence & she has encountered that person again and is now sadly reflecting on it all. This song was No8 for three weeks in The US & is a classic. Many people have covered this but none have ever come close to Agnetha, she own's it.
1. I had a huge crush on Agnetha (blonde) 2. This band was part of what made 70s music great. All on the same station you can hear this group, Elton John, David Bowie, The Doobie Brothers, The Eagles and Alice Cooper and not miss a beat.
I see a LOT of reactors making this mistake and I try to point it out whenever possible. The name of the group is NOT Abba. It is ABBA...all capital letters. It is an acronym for the first letter in each member's first name: Anni-frid, Benny, Bjorn & Agnetha.
They're Swedish and won the Eurovision song contest with Waterloo...both these couples were married and I think this is from when Bjorn and Agnetha broke up...it's even more remarkable as English obviously isn't their first language.
It’s an acronym, but the letters are not pronounced individually. It IS pronounced as one word. “Abba” if you’re American or “Ah-ba” if you’re not. Twon was saying it right. Don’t throw him off track. 😂
#NoLimitNation! 🔥 *TWON* ! ABBA exploded on the international music scene in 1974 by winning the Eurovision Festival, the largest music competition in the world, with the song "Waterloo." That is FIRE, as is "Fernando," "Does Your Mother Know?," "S.O.S.," and their MOST famous, "Dancing Queen!" REACT TO THOSE! Be well, and be GREAT! 💪🏾👊🏽😎
maybe you know the song from the movie Mamma Mia with Meryl Streep, In this film some ABBA songs were sung by the actors, Meryl Streep sang The winner Takes it all
#NoLimitNation Twon! Another great rabbit hole to dive into! ABBA is so rich in great songs. Got to react to “Dancing Queen”, “Mama Mia”, “Waterloo”, “Take a. Chance on Me” to name a few. I know you love background vocals, this group is the master of those. Yes I would buy a “Cut the Gas” T-shirt! You’re the best, Bro!

Possibly the most heart rending song ever. Written during the divorce of two of the band members. It took great courage for Agnetha to sing this song.

Sad song about divorce. She has a great voice. ABBA is amazing. Heartbreaking song. Good reaction Twon. ❤️✌️
Hello, i'm so glad to see you with a first reaction to ABBA
this is ABBA, the swedish pop group leads in 70s, decade after BEATLES
ABBA, as BEATLES, was so versatility in genres and styles of music, had sad ir melancholic songs like these, or happiest and dancing songs with catchy melodies and poweful chorus
ABBA (1972/82) was two couples:
Agnetha (blonde singer) &
Björn (guitarist songwriter)
Benny (pianist songwriter) &
Anni Frid (brunette singer)
"The winner takes it all" (1980) is for me the best interpretation of a song that I heard in all my life by any singer or band
It is interpretation, because it is more than just singing, it is also acting and transmitting, and the lead singer Agnetha does all that and on a superlative level
Beyond the morbid that the story of this song produces (the lyrics about a divorce, written by the guitarist Björn and sung by his ex-wife, the blonde Agnetha), the structure reflects a change: it is the first time in all ABBA songs that whoever has the leading voice has been alone from beginning to end,
She goes one way and the choirs go the other (they do not add up, they remain in the background)
and in the end She is left alone passive and exposed, while the chorus and the music finish so up
That is why I feel that Agnetha does an extraordinary performance (extraordinary: out of the ordinary)
Her face is very expressive and accompanies the various tones and nuances of her majestic vocalization.
"The winner takes it all" is a great song, it's in my ABBA Top 5
It is the favorite of British fans,
but fundamentally is the one chose
by Björn and Agnetha
And their own words is the one that is worth more
I wish You continue to react ABBA
I suggest the ballad pop "Chiquitita"
premier in Concert for UNICEF 1979
ua-cam.com/video/oMIw_y9uRT8/v-deo.html

This song is different in style,

Knowing Me Knowing You was ABBA at their absolute finest. Those lyrics, those chilling vocals, a masterpiece.
What you often hear with ABBA, Twon, is an undercurrent of inspiration from classical music. Disco really shouldn't be timeless, but ABBA's is...and that's why. In particular, they use a ton of baroque style counterpoint...
ABBA was one of the biggest of all times. They even made movies based on their songs… you may have heard of Mama Mia.
