Massive shout to all the wolf pack!!
This one goes beyond TC or jungle. It's one for the music-making archives, big up for recording this process.
more to come mate! feel like I can bring some value to the community with this stuff
4 bars that changed the world! Thanks for keeping that old school junglist vibe alive.
Fucking love the massive pull on the vape at 2:36 hahaha
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Brilliant video TC, makes you appreciate the onerous measures of getting a track together in the good old days, never knew this is how it all got done.
so glad I could bring you this video! I have a deep love of the music and the gear that could make it happen
Tight video, the detachable screen on the 6000 is actually kind of cool. These things were peak Akai sampling workhorses. Nice punchy clean sound and super easy to use
These are great machines. I have a few samplers (Roland VP9000/EMU E4turbo/S5000/S3000x) I love em all for different reasons and they all have so many different uses) Both the S5000 and S6000 have different sounding converters. I’ve got a maxed out S5000 with the USB, extra output channels and FX cards.
The 5000 definitely has a really punchy and gritty sound all of its own, I found the 6000 to be nice but more polished.
I use an old 2009 MacBook Pro with logic 8 which I mainly use just for midi and tracking everything goes thru my Yamaha 02R via 16 channels of optical digital lightpipe into two chained Motu 828 mk2’s
You can use the optical outputs on the Akai’s to go into a digital mixer or out of a sound card or interface into the sampler, endless possibilities for staying entirely in the digital domain….
It sounds just like 1995-1999 😅
Workflow is more fun than working in the box and mixes sound way better than DAW/logic mixes.
totally agree with you the workflow is mad on the old machines
@@tcdnb They definitely help with creativity and music making. The old methods are sometimes the best :)
The hardware workflow is so satisfying as you suggested it does feel like your actually doing something. Big up
massive respect for your comment mate!
Yes yes t! Awesome vid mate. All the amen fun to come! Love the pitch and filter on it too man
Thanks a ton!
I bought the winston brother vinyl just so I could chop in Ableton myself - it’s all about the process !
yes amazing I really want to get my hands on a copy of that original!!
@@tcdnb want the think break on vinyl I think this one is a bit more expensive
@@tcdnb ua-cam.com/video/eHn48b7iWF0/v-deo.html
The editing features on the s6000 is better then some of the new samplers, as for the naming a keyboard with a PS2 connector makes life easier, and it’s no different then using an mpc! But great video!
Awesome video. If you want to do this a little quicker use a program that can export AKP (Akai Project Files) files. I chop my drums in cubase, then render to 16BIt (or it won't play in the Akai), then put same whole break in recycle, add hit points and export the AKP file. Then transfer the AKP file and the wav files and it's done, ready to role immediately chopped in the DAW, locked and loaded in the sampler. Chicken systems translator also exports AKP files.
If you have a optical out on your soundcard you can also record in/out of the AKAI S6000 if you want a lossless conversion.
Also don't forget to record your breaks in hot using the "line"and "mic"settings then layer underneath the original break. Some of the best distortion I have ever heard.
I have this working also but I like to show the process of the old school too
is that, 3 layers in total ? Original + Line + Mic ?
But then you will miss the sound of the A/D converters 🙂
Yo Yo..Morning. So Sic to watch this...you gotta do more of this TC..i could watch this all day!
yoooo its the most boring video on youtube :)
@@tcdnb ha ha..this will never get boring..i'd say the view count will go wild!
you think? hahaha I hope so
@@tcdnb Just a thought would it be easier to create a default goto program with lets say 64 keygroups and have already the keyspan mapped to a 0.1sec blank sample that way then you only gotta change the zone sample just to save all that copying and pasting.
this is a very interesting idea
Amen 🙏 to this
respect brother!
ahhhhhh see what you did there 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
nice vid. sampling on old machines was time consuming but rewarding. muscle memory kicks in and you get quicker.
i remember the first time i hooked a qwerty keyboard up to my Emu E64. it felt like heaven :D
Very true! I have the adapter for the akai I think I need to get a small keyborad tho
And this is the swanky "user friendly" S6000. The S950 was just the longest to use. Kids today don't know they're born...
*heads off to shout at kids on lawn*
GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
Haha bro at 2:36 you take like a five second rip of that vape. i was blinking in disbelief you didnt edit that out but its pretty funny idk
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Big ups!
Mate….The times I’ve done this with breaks. It does take time but the results are worth it. Respect.
so worth it!
cutting stuff with that wheel looks awesome, omg! :D
it has alot of satisfaction thats for sure
TC does all the dirty jobs so that we don't have to...respect!
😂😂😂 Its a hard life but its a good life :)
Damn that’s dope!
Thanks so much for the kind words!!
I say stuff out loud to remember and it drives my friends crazy when I'm using my equipment XD
Also what I love the most about old gear is it gives you the chance to unplug from the internet for a much needed break
Yes boss loved this
Please do a hole series
From start to finish making jungle the old way
🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🎶🎶🎹🎹🎹🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
thats a great idea thanks alot
legendary shiz 🔥👌🏻
MAD RESPECT!!
second amen chop. RAM sound control.
the joy of the old gear!
tc legendary amen guy from doa days
Very cool. I too am fascinated by how electro rave producers produced and recorded back in 91 to 98. Something about this time. The whole Atari 1040 with Notator or Cubase, all MiDi recorded to Adat. The whole hardware sampler usage. Im so into it. I try to watch any old school recording clips I can find.
Cubase is fine and all but OctaMED combined with amiga can create very similar results.
@@AmigaJunglism I'm on Renoise and it's my main step sequencer.
Oh man I still want one of these machines after all these years.
one word TUBEDIGGA
Can you not tap the corresponding keys on a a midi keyboard to set the samples in the keygroups?
most likley you can I believe I found another way too that makes it much faster
TC if you could jog my memory it’s been a very long time didn’t recycle give you the start and stop point on a sample if you were to load it in there and then reload it into the Akai? I had the S 2000 I just cannot remember for the life of me exactly how it was done and thanks very great and educational videos.
I was never really a Recycle user, I liked to manually chop my samples in Sound Forge, I think you could send the akai the samples via SCSI and possibly the program file. Thanks for watching and I really appreciate the comment 🐺🐺🐺
HYou can plug a computer keyboard into the s6000 to speed up your text input
If you had a keyboard controller, you could set the key note points with hitting the keys you want.
Hey folks, love these S5000 machines!!!! make a lot of tracks back in the day with ONLY this Monster..... But now, i fully maxed out everything, incl. the usb card, BUT in need DRIVERS for win xp. Does anyone have it? Please i need it! Also, i work with the mpc4000 with ak.sys. Because of that it makes definately sense to connect the s5000 and transferring back and forth between the two AKAIS. Anyone? Thanxxxxxxxx!
Problem solved! I get the drivers from a client of me, many thanks anyway!
can you link the stand you have your cdjs and mixer on
There’s a super quick way to avoid going through all the samples to the correct pitch, if you goto meygroup and select all samples then I think it’s the keyspan menu then velocity settings, turn KBD to off. That way you can play any sample on different keys and it’ll play at the original pitch :-)
wow thats incredible advice damn!! I am making another video making Jungle on Akai at the moment and this would really help, Gonna defo try it, thanks so much
You're such a Don!!!!
blessing legend!
this one's not even that old and cryptic, try an S950! 🤣
Wish you would make jungle with all analogue gear.
yo good vid get ya self a usb for ya akai ,recycle and virtual box akai keys program and ya set
its like using maschine a bit still
Can add a qwerty keyboard or better still get the usb card & treat it as a plug in 😀
sooo long ha ha
yeh lol
