I must say that you have the same excitement with the performance of your dahlias as I have with mine. I loved this video more than any other you have made. Your husband was interested and wanted to learn about them too, which made this video educational. Bravo!
Oh my gosh Shelley what amazing colors of the dahlias !!! So glad you're getting your home flower beds in shape. It sure has been a busy year for you to say the least !!
wow that is a amazing dahlia. i have a yellow one like that called kelvin floodlight i think, lol thank you for sharing with us. hope you have a great!!!
In a previous video you asked for suggestions for perennial filler flowers. Lady's Mantle is a great filler for late May/June weddings with the chartreuse flowers plus it lasts. Then for late Aug/ Sept. I suggest Sweet Autumn clematis is a fragrant, prolific, white showy flowers that would be excellent for weddings. It grows very well on fences and looks lovely. I give mine away to a local florist that just love it.
Shelley and Brian you two can make me belly laugh sometimes. Dahlias always seem to do better later in the season for me. Two things. That does look like Jowey Nicky and just ignore the "w" when pronouncing Jowey/Joey. Second, looking at all those pots left to plant my girl you all need to upgrade to an auger for real. I know the farm is rocky but there are augers that stop if they hit something. I think you would love it.
Good to know!! I thought it was a smaller bloom- at the kids garden its not anywhere near that size but I cannot wait to see them when they really start pumping out blooms!
We used to live where we had deer. We put in a 4 foot fence that surrounded a patio area and cutting garden. The deer never jumped in - landscape designer said they wouldn’t because too small of space for them. HOA only allowed fenced in area to be 2000 square feet. They would come up to the fence but wouldn’t jump in.
I may try to fence the gardens themselves in... but our property is too large to do the entire border. It has been such a bad year for deer- and the fact that I slacked off on spraying the repellent!
My cone flowers were eating while in bloom, hostas, phlox, and a few other plants got destroyed by deer and rabbits this season. Been a tough year for the garden 😞 I’m hearing this from a lot of people this year
I too bought so many expensive dahlia tubers this year and yes some were $50. Then a chipmunk came in and ate every one. Which is weird because he only ate the new tubers. I planted so many more that I dug up from last year and he didn't eat those????? Do you have any idea why this happened. NOT ONE grew. And they were planted in the same bed next to my other dahlias so I just don't get it!
She says " have you ever seen such beautiful flowers ! He murmured " yeah like 2 flowers ago " !!! 😅
😆

You are so funny with excitement! That burgundy and white dahlia is Tartan dinner plate I think.😎👍❤️❤️❤️
Yes- I believe you're correct!
the dailias looks stunning, eah of them!! Jowey Nicky does look like that.
Awesome!! This is my first year with that one- I LOVE it!
You should do sunflowers out in the field . We have farmers that will have a whole field of them around me and they are so beautiful so see .
That is def on my list of things to do!!
definitely Tartan, they are considered dinnerplate size,

I am interested in observing this revamp and look forward to the progress in 2025.

Hand watering like that😮. Where does she get the energy from 😂

Ugh- it really has been awful! Sorry- I know the frustration all too well!
Can you use top soil with malch?Love you at home garden I miss them.
How do I obtain some of your seeds? Where did you originally purchase your stock?

I can't believe that the first hard frost is on its way...say it's not true.
