Honestly, Monte adds so much comedy relief! He just makes me laugh aloud. I watch you for the garden inspiration, but he just adds the perfect touch.
I agree, Shelley she could start a UA-cam channel just for Monty! Haha
Janey, you need to make a chart / plan to hang in your office, then check off the accomplishments! I have watched you from the beginning, and the transformation on this property/ home is astounding! Well done! You haven't even included the business retail shop, Jason's transformation to Gardner extraordinaire, the home interior update transformations, etc. Remember, the costs of homeownership and projects is over the edge. Pinch yourself! 😀😀😀
Just call it The Secret Garden. Just remove “shade” from the equation. 🙂🌱 I can’t wait to see more trees go in, you’ve done so so much in a year, unbelievable! 😍
What a difference the painted walls and organization made in the workshop! Everything is looking great! ❤
Nothing is more satisfying than organizing the garden shed! Great job!
My dog, Cookie heard Monty’s green ball and ran and got her green ball! 😂 The back yard is looking amazing and the barn is organized… fall inspiration video for sure. 💕
Maybe your 'Secret Shade Garden' could become your 'Fountain Garden' . You guys have done SO MUCH!!! Looks SO good. Pat yourselves on the back. BRAVO!!
I was thinking about that too ! Or she could call it the “French garden “ and add tiny boxwoods, rosemary, lavender, roses
Beautiful! You and Jason have transformed your home and garden in such a short period of time...I can't wait to see what you will do in the next year. Love the organized workshop...❤M
Your hard work is paying off. What a transformation
I am in complete awe of everything that you have accomplished, and in a pretty short amount of time!! And my jaw literally drops when I see how fast everything grows for you!! It’s gotta be the love! 😊💕 I have to seriously step it up here, get my soil happy and a good watering solution going!! I’m learning so much from you!! Thank you so much for taking time out to share! Sorry for so many exclamation points 😂😂 I’m just super happy for you guys
You both should be very proud of all the work you have done. Monty is so cute.
On my gosh! I cannot believe this transformation! We struggle with the exact same problem! We also waste a lot of time because items don't get put back, get left everywhere, and some just don't have a home. I have got so many ideas from your video today and so excited to implement these! AMAZING!
Have enjoyed your Front Garden Tour and now the Back Garden Tour!! You and Jason remind me so much of Laura and Aaron of Garden Answer when they moved into their property in 2016. It has been wonderful to see and follow the four of you transforming your properties into your own and showing the successes and failures along the way!! Thanks for sharing with all of us!!
It’s all looking so good! I’m sure you’re chomping at the bit to get more projects done. Don’t forget to enjoy the journey!
Have you ever thought about a cooking video on how you might make what you have in your garden
Great garden, you have come a long way. Enjoy seeing your videos each morning and what you are doing. Keep up the good work.
Where you're planning to add more compost, leaving the supertunias in the ground will be more beneficial than removing the plants. Leaving roots in the soil is very beneficial for soil health. Have you thought about cover cropping? There are some that are meant for breaking up compacted soil.
Insomnia gets me an early view of your tour. 😂😢 You've put in so much work, and it really shows. 🌹 ❤️ Cucumber can be bitter when it's stressed, so maybe not enough water would be my first suspicion because of your heat. Where you're going to add compost, don't remove the supertunias. Just put the compost over them. Leaving the roots in the ground is really good for soil health. Have you thought about cover cropping?
Jason and Janey, you have every right and reason to brag very proudly!! You deserve major gigantic kudos for all of your hard work, meticulous planning, and miraculous results! Your channel is awesome in every way.
I hope you both know how much you are admired, respected and appreciated.
Proven Winners was brilliant to select you to represent them!
You & Jason have done amazing job ,in your backyard. I look forward to more projects getting done & your headed in a good direction.
It has been amazing watching your garden take shape. I would love to see how a comparison of how you've adapted Micheal Glassman's design to make it your own.
Well good morning janie and monty. You And Jason have accomplished so much this month. It's good to have it documented because sometimes we forget just how much we have done. That Monte is such a sweet sweet boy. Looks like he has claimed his domain and loves it. Have a blessed day the Oklahoma gardener.😊
You have achieved an unreal amount of amazing goal on this property. So great to watch you are like the energize bunny! Always so busy.
Thanks for the great garden tour.. you say mulch, mulch, mulch. I say compost, compost, compost. LOL!
For your secret garden I was thinking “French Garden “ and adding tiny boxwoods, rosemary, lavender, roses and adding a design on the pathway ! 🫶🏼
The metal workshop painted in white looks fantastic! What a great idea!
Every month we see more and more progress! And the garden adjacent updates are great too because all gardeners need to keep their stuff somewhere and you give us great ideas. Keep going👍👏👩🏼🌾
What a Huge Difference! You guys have rocked it!
Love your “ dog water
” station!!! Haha- he’s so cute
You’ve come such
a long way! 🌿
I am so proud of both of you, Janey❤. Your gardens have really come a long way❣️ I’m excited to see all the trees that you will be planting for shade❣️ They will make all the difference.
Your secret garden…you could do a koi pond on the fence side. It would be so pretty and the girls would be able to see from their rooms. Ponds do not have to be huge. Ours isn’t and we have koi and goldfish. I love it
Unfortunately raccoons, egrets and herons wreak havoc on fish and pond plants in our area, so unless the pond is covered with ugly wire mesh, it's almost impossible to accomplish.
@@suelfitz darn, it would have been so pretty too
All the hard work is paying off! Everything is looking great. Would love to see a update on the kitchen.
Yes. Me too!!!!🎉
Well this is what i need to do in my shed. Clean it out and paint it white. Love that. ADHD makes me forget where I put everything.
Your yard keeps getting more beautiful every month! Please show us label loving viewers when you label stuff in your metal workshop!! 😀🇨🇦
Love the idea about the foxglove! That will be beautiful!
AGREE on the jelly bean tomato. I’m going back to my tried and true Sunsugars next year . Everything look great 🌻♥️
Everything is so beautiful! It’s amazing what you and Jason have done in your first year! Love it♥️♥️💐🪴🌱🌺🌸🍃
Cudos to both you and Jason. It’s amazing what you have accomplished in just one year.
Janey & Jason, you have had a very busy September! Getting organized is very important! Painting the inside of the garage white made a incredible difference! Repurposing the cabinet was an excellent idea! Thank you for that tip on bud worm prevention. I have not planted patunias or superbenias because of those pests. Maybe Spring 2025 I will give it ago. You two are absolutely amazing at all you have accomplished! And it is good to see Monty Play and refresh himself with the fountain. 😊 Have a wonderful day!
Monty is adorable!
You have done so much! Monty is a delight. What a goof. You might try Japanese cucumbers next year. They need to climb, but grow nice long mild cucumbers. You can roast some of those prolific tomatoes with garlic and italian seasoning. Either use with chips as a dip, mix with pasta, or blend and make soup.
Great progress
Yes, you two have done a lot of projects. The garage was the best. I have the hoe dag tool. I purchased when you first used it, and it is awesome. As for Nick and his greenhouse and garden, thank you so much for that video. He is such a delight and I love everything he does. The cement pumpkins were quite interesting. He is so funny, even if he doesn't even mean to be.
future projects🤫 - a french drain running parallel to the front of the work shed...thank you for sharing your progress...
Janey , cuke bitterness is usually a combination of heat stress and not enough water-they are thirsty plants. Next year try Armenian cukes, they are technically melons and don't have the bitterness issue. Extremely heat tolerant. I got the seeds from Botanical Interests.
I vote secret garden!
Looking so amazing!
Hi Janey! Your garden looks so good! Can't believe it's only been a year! Have you thought about adding shade cloth to the greenhouse to help cool it down when it starts to get hot? 😊
Well done Texas9b 💚
Roses- climbing voluptuous roses of course!! It's what every secret garden needs!!!❤🌹💐
Coming along beautifully 🍁
I had an issue with the birds eating my seeds and seedlings. I got bamboo stakes and reflective bird tape. It really helped.
It’s ok that you’re not sure about the secret garden. Take your time. It will come to you. You have done so much already!
Great garden
Do a tuber giveaway! Those dahlias are gorgeous, and i would be happy to grow them in my garden! The first time I grew them, all i got was a bunch of yellow ones. Floret has the best seeds that produce the best dahlias!
🎉I love Monty.. Don’t worry dogs belong in the garden along with their toys 🐕
Great job getting all those projects done!
It looks so good! The progress you guys have made is incredible! 😊Are you gonna show us your kitchen?
For the secret garden I want to suggest all white flowers! Make it a secret moon garden! Instead of mass planting do individual plants in the same color scheme so that you SLOW down in the secret moon garden! ❤ 🌙
The "secret shade garden" would make an excellent coleus garden, filled with a variety of coleus, they should grow well there!
You rock!😊😊
Everything is looking good it helps to have help now
Your garage wowie! Huggicates!😊
You did such a good job with your garden.
I think your California room would be beautiful painted the same color as your office door. It would make it feel special to me. Love it
Your wagons are great! Giving me ideas n hope for organizing our small Licensed plant nursery here in South Texas Thank you for all the ideas ❤
LOVE LOVE LOVE The chandelier in your greenhouse! 🌸🥰👍❤️Liz from California
Your garden has come such a long way. Wow! Big congrats on all that you’ve accomplished. I can’t wait to see what’s in store.
P.S. I’ll volunteer to dig your dahlia tubers! That salmon colored one is amazing! My favorite color in the garden for sure.😍
Just keep amending and mulching your soil and over time it will improve. I topdress my entire yard with 4yards of compost twice a year, once in mid to late October then a again around mid March. The winter and early spring rains wash and work it into the soil
Once you have electric garage doors you might want to also consider adding motorized or sliding screen doors. It'll keep the air circulating when you're working on woodworking projects.
BT? Can you show us the bottle?
Love your progress !
Beautiful !
Hi Janey!😊
Looks like, in the secret garden, you have the best of both worlds. You have part shade and part sun.
Looks great y’all are Awesome!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Throw all of those sun golds in the freezer for when you have time to make tomato sauce.
Sun Golds are like candy! So good!!
I hope that fountain is anchored down so it doesn’t fall on Monty
Just call it the "secret garden" :)
The secret shade garden could be called “The Avenue”, a homage to the original Anne of Green Gables.
Can be called a sun moon garden 🌞🌚🌗
Why not move the veto beds to the vegetable garden and use the concrete area for your wagon storage. Then you can use that patio as a patio intended like for games and gathering area for family and friends.
In the secret garden is your lion fountain, therefore, I think, you should call it "Lion Lane". Depending on what direction you go you could also call it the "Secret Safari'.
Since it is so separate from the rest of your garden zones, you could really lean into a niche setting.
You could totally name your dahlias (or even have subscribers help name them) instead of getting rid of them because they don’t already have names. Plus there are companies you could work with in the future to put your grown from seed dahlias on the market!
I like just secret side garden, skinny secret side garden, I also like the fountain garden.
Metal shed looks great.
Janey, some quick questions. Does the greenhouse have any openings beside the doors for ventilation? Did I miss your kitchen reveal? Love, love, love your videos. From zone 5, NE Iowa!
Great job organizing the metal shop! Have you considered painting the exterior the same sage green color as your raised planters next to it?🤔
You and Jason are making everything so beautiful. Watch out for the plants that are poisonous to dogs, however.
Like foxglove and those ferns by the chickens.
Gardening goals! As for the shoes I HIGHLY recommend you bring your shoes in and keep them there black widows will crawl into your shoes nest and lay eggs. Even if you use your shoes often and knock them out you can not be sure they will get knocked out. The tiny black widows are the MOST venomous and can kill in less than an hour. It just is not worth it, we are in Ca., it part of life here in Northern Ca. especially it looks like you are in a more rural location so add scorpions and snakes to that list. :/
some chalk paint in those closed cupboards for labelling might be nice.
I may have missed it, but did you ever show us your kitchen after many remodel?
Would you show it again if you have
I like organization too! But my deal is I am always looking for my snips. I lay them down and don't remember where I laid them. My husband bought me a holder but it has a clip to clip to my pants and I hate it because it weighs my pants down. LOL
Beautiful raised beds. Regarding your cucumbers being bitter - it’s because you are not removing the male flowers before they get established. If you remove all the male flowers you won’t get bitter cucumbers. The male flowers just have a thin stalk behind them whereas the females have a bulge.
Janie what a fun video! I tried to find the link to Nicholas"s greenhouse and couldn't find it. I am not that great with computerts and wondered if you could better tell me how to find it here? Sorry to be so tech impaired
If you’re on your phone or an iPad, click on “more” under the description, then click on “more again and it’s the first link.
I refuse to grow petunias anymore - too finicky, budworms, heavy feeders etc…… I now love flowering vincas. Non stop flowering, Drought tolerant, no fertilizing, pruning or insect pressure.
Beautiful progress! Question.. how hot does the pipe from the hot tub get when you heat the water? The reason I ask, is the tree you’re going to plant near it. Is it far enough away so it won’t get scorched?
You need to buy a Gator! I have one for my 2 acres and it’s a game changer. No need for all those wagons. Best investment ever!,
Et større tæppe under jeres udebord ville pynte👍
Aren't Foxglove poisonous for dogs?
Yes...
Just call it the secret garden. It looks secretive tucked behind the walls of vines.
How about ‘The Secret Side Garden’
I think it’s been too hot for cucumbers to taste good. You could plant one now and it would probably be good
Try Jibai Shimoshirazu, a Japanese variety of cucumber, which is not bitter. I've heard that Japanese variety cucumbers are not bitter
I say name the secret shade garden the sun and shade garden, I love the area and can’t wait for the two living fence to grow out…
