I quickly found out that this piece of gear is not the solution for what I‘m looking for, but this guy is so amazing that I had to watch the video till the end!
Love this, especially your commentary/singing while engaging the EQ :) Seriously, very well done. I will say, that the things that you mention, and other reviewers have mentioned, as being potential shortcomings don't bother me at all, and I suspect might not bother others who might be looking for something like I am. 1) I don't care that it's not an interface for a DAW. I have an Apollo Duo and I'm mainly looking for extra inputs, flexible routing, extra preamps, etc, so I can keep everything I need as a multi-instrumentalist all dialed in and ready to go. 2) I don't care that there's only one headphone out, because I only work alone. 3) The lay out of the knobs doesn't bother me because I've never used an SSL or any large scale board, so it's all new to me. These three things have been mentioned in numerous reviews, and while I totally see why they're mentioned and could be downsides depending on your needs, for anyone who already has an interface and who records on their own. they might feel the same. I'm putting my thoughts down here because I hope they can help anyone in my boat who's looking expand on a small setup. Like I said, I have an Apollo Duo, so I have the 4 XLR Inputs on that, which has the Universal Audio Plugins I can track through, but I also have a Vintage King 500 Series rack with a BAE 1073 mic pre, a Rascal Audio Tw0-V, 2 Trident 80B's and an API 505 DI. Which is all, AWESOME. But I work a lot and having to plug, unplug, dial in EQ, then dial in EQ for something else, it just all ends up cutting into my very limited creative time. So, I started wondering if it was time for a patch bay, which I'll admit, confuses the hell out of me. Do I need more mic pres, like a Focusrite ISA Two? Just trying to think of ways for my vocal mic, synths, mic'd drums, drum machines, bass and piano to be dialed in at ALL times, so once I get everything set up, I can focus mostly on playing and recording. I was almost going to buy one of those tiny Switchcraft patch bays, then I was going to buy the Focusrite ISA Two. Then I remembered the SSL SiX and started researching again. With the ISA Two being almost $1000 USD and the SSL Six being $1499 USD, I can get SO much more with the SiX. I can have my Ludwig kit mic'd with 3 mics, the two SuperAnalogue Pre's and the Talkback mic with the LMC engaged, the G-Series Bus compressor, and all the other additional input options. Are the the channel compressors only average? Maybe, but I'll never have an 1176 or an LA2A. I have an RNC :) So, if the channel compressors are kinda like having a couple of extra RNC's, then that's a win! If the G-Series compressor is better than those, great! Anyway, just wanted to share how I'm thinking of using this because I drive myself nuts researching gear options, and once in a while I come across things that open my eyes, like this video, and I'm always appreciative of the time people put into this stuff. I'm NOT a trained engineer by the way. I'm a songwriter/producer, who because he can't afford to go to proper recording studios has found a way to record myself. I know some of this is out of range financially for a lot of people, me included at most points in my life, but if you're looking at getting some good pieces of outboard gear that'll last for a long time, things like this are wise investments I think. I choose gear very carefully and from what I've read, this seems like a really great piece to add to my evolving home studio. Thanks @SonicState for the video!
This is the best video I’ve seen demonstrating the real world recording capabilities of this thing. Then to be able to turn around and sum my stems through SIX really makes this thing a bargain in my opinion. I also love my SSL 2+ interface. I’d be shocked if they don’t make an interface soon with enough I/O to pair with all the routing in the SIX. They’ll get my money once they do!

The channel comps are 2:1 which is why they are so light. The g being 4:1 with a 40 cut makes them more suitable for bus. Every time I used my Six, I find out how much more I actually like it. I was skeptical in the beginning and actually only picked it up for the strong pre amps(one channel with a comp in a case and power supply would cost more) in the channel strip with the compressor that I only use about -3db but it is just so flexible and clean I use it all more and more.

Yup. I especially want to know what you have in there that requires you to strap yourself into that chair LOL. (Yes I know... but it's a strange place to hang your back pack :-))
I love mine -- I'm using the pres as makeup gain for outboard summing, the stereo channels for keys/line mixing, and it's my main monitor controller. Lots and lots of things it can do, it's perfect for my set-up. Plus, I can ride the main fader to do manual fade-outs.
Hi Poserp do you have a video somewhere of you set-up for the Six... I'd like to use it quite in the same as you do... But I kinda get lost with all the options
@@essouna I don't, but the basic gist of it is hook up your monitors to the Main Monitor outputs for monitoring (this will allow you to dim/mute/mono the main monitors and control the monitor mix from the monitor section), and hook up the Main Bus outputs (the female XLR connectors on the back) to your recording device/interface. I hook up my passive summing to the microphone inputs on channels 1 and 2. This way I can use the channel compressors, the eq, and the main bus compressor on the summed version of my track.
...Adding, be sure you pan channels 1 and 2 L and R, so that you have a stereo image... Sometimes I forget to check that and wonder why everything I'm monitoring is in mono...
Finally a good walkthrough video thanx Gaz! Many negative comments, I did my homework: I wanted a mixer with is high quality build ( through it isn't made in the UK anymore) The SiX is build like a tank, future proof with many routing options. perfect for me starting, as an solo artist, slowly building a small music studio. I guess time will tell if it will be a succes, more outputs means more money, like a TwelvE (btw you can link 2 SiX mixers to make a TwelvE) glad they made it without a audio interface. So you can use your own interface, it is focuses on musician who already got some gear, not beginners. Quality has a price folks, and I love it
This mixer has some interesting quirks and features. for $1500 you get 2 hi gain mic preamps, 3 compressors, a crazy limiter, a 12 channel summing mixer with SSL build quality that will out last a Behringer and sound better than a Mackie or Yamaha. I agree with Gaz on the design quirks like the basic EQ, the fussy layout and design, but it seems like a good price for an SSL. oh but that's not all... then you get to buy a couple of d-sub cables for $250 so you can connect your outboard gear! lol
@@bigdap100 I can answer regarding the comparison between the SSL Six and Prism pres. The SSL six pres are very very clean and sound/feel "dryer"sounding than the pres in my Prism. It is a perfect coupling though as the 8 channel ADDA is what I have my prism for.
No doubt in my mind that strong affordable usb mixer/interfaces with DSP are the future for small studio and home producers, I can totally see massive opportunity for hybrids that can save custom eq and compressor profiles like the small Yamaha AG series but also have cracking input, output and monitoring features that we need. The SSL has the heritage but has the price tag to boot. I’ll keep my money for now, but I’m keeping a watchful eye on the future.
Does the alt input accessible via db25 flow through the main mono channels? I'd like to be able to route signal out from my interface and through the mono channels for processing without having to keep plugging/unplugging from the normal inputs on top whenever I want to plug in a guitar or mic.
Still thrill ? If i understood well you could go to 12 inputs and four outputs, two separatly and the 10 others on the main out ? Totally separatly it would be four and four ?
@@juliendammert7488 I don't know what you mean by four and four. You have the main out and the Bus B out - where I send that signal for additional processing. You have the two main inputs with EQ and an alternate input on 1/2 via the DB25 connected thru my patch bay. With the 2 stereo channel inputs on top, I would probably consider it six and four.... I also use my handsome zulu on the insert/send via the DB25 through the patch bay. I cannot say enough about the compressor. just used lightly brings instant gratification. I run everything through it. It is a great board brings warmth to everything you run through it. I tend to ramble...hope this long, boring answer helps.
@@aking9832 thanks for your answer. Not too long and not boring. Sorry to not be understable. English isn’t my first language. I’m new at this and try to understand. I’m a mutli amps guitarist song writer. For each amps i need two ins. So I tried to figure out how many amps i could plug into the SiX to go into an audio interface to have one separated track for each amps. If it’s four ins and four outs that’s two amps. My idea was to plug the audio source from multiple amps into the SiX going into an audio interface to record. Then in a second time coming back from the audio interface to the SiX to mix each tracks thru the the main inputs with eq and the Bus compressor.
@@juliendammert7488 Okay. Now I get your question. then yes it can be a four in/four out setup. Yes use 3/4 and 5/6 inputs from amps, output from monitor outs (your record feed) goes to interface, then outputs from interface goes to 1/2 inputs for SSL processing.
@@aking9832 i thought for recording going from one amps to the inputs one and two then going to the Bus B left and right then going to inputs one and two of the audio interface. And a second amp going to the inputs 3L and 5L (maybe with mic pres before) going to the two main outputs going to the inputs three and four of the audio interface. So I would have two separated tracks from each two amps. Then playback from the daw to mix thru channel one and two and use comp.
I just discovered you, Gaz. Excellent review. I need this piece of gear. If you think about it, I single 500 series SSL mic pre is like $700, and this thing has 2 SSL preamps. So right there, you are getting your money's worth. Also, it has a REALLY good DI - those can cost a few hundred dollars and up. The fact that you can use a pedal for effects eliminates the need to go buy a $300 Radial reamping box. This is a GREAT product, and it sounds amazing.

Guys, I need some advice, I want to pair the SiX with a audio interface, with one would be great? Want to use the D-sub connectors. Witch interface would make sense to use?
How to just hear the main source without monitor source, because i want to use the main source for realtime mixing or mastering my music, just using fader to print my audio, so i know the exact sound come out from Six ssl Thank you.
15:51 "Ta ta ta--- More compressed, MORE compressed, COMPRESS! Hey, hey, hey, HEY! HEY! HEY! NO compress, NO COMPRESS-- COMPRESS, COMPRESS! Eh, it's okay." -My *internal dialogue* while mixing
FYI, "pfl" below the "mute" buttons are "Pre fader" activations. You can switch the cue behaviour to post via the cue post in the "foldback" master section on the far right.
I use mine strictly for vocals and drum machine paired with a blue robbie with a telefunken tube. Absolutely mind blowing sound. Puts the vocals right up front. Can be aggressive in the mids but its nice
Hi, I am one of those people who think that a decent Interface should make such sound, but in comparison to the sound in this video the pure output of my interfaceo sounds a little bit plastic. Is it really possible to improve the sound of a production when one inserts the SSL Six as an Insert in the masterbus?
Thanks for sharing and being you. You are great. Like you said, the layout is a bit confusing, so I added lines to box out the Cue1 portion of channel 1. And same for the Cue2 portion. I cut masking tape thin to make the lines, so I can remove the lines. And, like you said, the rear connections labelling is impossible to see, so I used my label maker (Brother QL500) to add labels next to the jacks. It appears that you really got to know this thing, so what you say is right on and very interesting and important. Thanks very much for sharing your expert opinion on this.

I don't get why people keep saying it's expensive, or it should have x, y, and z features at this price. An SSL Xlogic 4 channel mic pre costs nearly £1400 (That's just pres, no eq, no compression) and the single channel alpha unit is nearly £1000 (whilst having a much better eq admittedly), This has two mic channels with a limited eq and compressor, two stereo channels, a scaled down mix bus compressor, loads of other connections and functionality. It's a bargain! You want better eq and compression for this price? Dream on, or buy a cheaper, inferior brand of course. I may have to go the latter route sadly, plus I need multiple inputs so I have no choice. I can dream of an AWS948 though!
My 2 cents: Having two channel strips of a SSL console for 1100$ is a great idea. However one knob compressor and super limited EQ just makes it way too stiff for tracking various sources. The layout looks messy and cheap - hide the inputs and outputs behind the unit! I'm sure some people will find this usefull for specific purposes, but as the compressor and eq are so limited, it's like having a sports car but only first two gears available.
You can do that in about 4 different ways. You can monitor your daw without it going to the main bus through ext 1 or ext 2, while recording the main bus. Or you can monitor your daw through the main bus and record the cue send directly to your daw. Or you can record Bus b by muting the channels which will send them to bus b. so so many ways.
It's a shame they didn't have room for a sidechain compressor hpf on the input channels. There's a 50hz hpf on the buss comp (which is why it sounded better here), but even that is a little too gingerly for most program material. Would love a version with 125hz sc hpf available on all the comps.

About integrating an audio interface -- no, I'm looking for exactly this, a fully analog, no-digital, no audio interface. I already have an apogee A/D. I don't want to pay extra for a built-in interface that I have no use for.
Welllllllll, you'd change your opinion if that built in interface converted at either 32bit or DSD format. If this SiX had 8 proper SSL strips with full console features and the interface so it can be used with an iPad in Cubasis, I'd be in. But for now, the Steinberg usb-c 8 Yamaha d-pre pre's with 32bit depth will fill that void. Leave it to Steinberg to handle the brave stuff
@@ET2carbon No, I wouldn't change my mind. I don't want to pay a bunch more for that. 32bit is overkill, you can't make use of that. 24bit is more than enough.
@@ET2carbon 24bits is already more than enough. 20/22bits is even enough. 24bit has 512 times as much dynamic range as CD quality. That's far more than you'd ever be able to actually make use of. Also, bit depth does essentially nothing to high end/treble. You need higher sample rate for that.
@@antiHUMANDesigns I've got a bachelor's of science in this field. I am very aware of this information. I know you think what you're telling me it's fact but it isn't. Are you saying these things to save money and keep your recordings from sounding the most pristine representation of the natural organic acoustic sound? I was taught what you're telling me in school. We were taught the exact thing. Oh you'll never need above 16 bit because the science shows anything above is unnecessary and beyond human capabilities to perceive. Yeah then came 24bit. Then to keep from reinvesting in newer equipment because thousands were already spent, they try to downplay the results because they were told 44.1 16 was the max needed. Then when they actually heard the difference, they upgrade. Then, they said the same about 32 bit, until they heard it. Until you become esdentially analog, the digital technology will continue to progress. I recommend actually listening to a 32bit recording that was either a direct copy from analog or was recorded in 32bit. DSD is even beyond the 384khz. When you start using 1bit at 1MHz 5MHz or 11MHz you very much hear the difference. Yes highs are affected at higher sampling rates. The kind of thing you're trying to tell me is the same as people saying you can't tell the difference between 160kbps and 320kbps. It just isn't true
The price thing is interesting. For the features I personally think it’s a bargain. The folks who save for months to afford Behringer and Mackie gear will think it’s massively expensive and those with high end professional studios will likely see it as a budget item and not take is seriously and see it as consumer-level. It just fits in a middle zone seems to annoy many people at least online.
I definitely agree this is more for the intermediate professional, someone who is very serious about their sound, not yet major but has did a few projects and knows how to work digital and analog gear to form a hybrid studio

Hi Gaz, your video actually helped me make the decision to purchase the Six. I wonder if you could help at all. I'm getting a switch noise on the main output, when switching the 'Ext 1 and Ext 2' in and out using the switches above the main fader on the extreme right of the console. The reason I am having to do this is because even when the external volumes are turned to zero, signal is still bleeding through to the Main output. It doesn't bleed through onto the monitor outputs in the same scenario. Just wondered if your unit does the same? Daniel

I wouldn't put line input instruments into the micpres. That's what the stereo channels are for in my setup. I use the micpres for guitar and bass. The versatility of this unit is amazing and the sound is way above anything on the market at this price. I don't think it's an upper low end product at all. It is a great tool for any small home studio.

I still wait until SSL brings us a Eight, with at least 4 preamped channels and a little bit more control on the compressor. This is not good enough and made me go for the Crawnborne USB. Much better preamps and very powerful machine, that also has a splendid DAC on board.
For my purposes the SiX lacks just a few features to make it really interesting. And those Cranborne products also look great. I thought of buying the ADAT-version but am still doubting if I will go for more rackmount or lunchbox analog gear or a mixing desk when I expand. By the way, preamps? I guess that you mean ones that you added?

Nice review, but I don´t know why everybody keeps saying that they want a second headphone amp when the foldback has enough power to drive a headphones and the only thing you need is a Y adaptor cable. Don´t get me wrong, the second headphone would be a nice addition but I just can´t see how would they fit it on the console...
Glad I stuck and heard the bass DI.. Coming from a weak signal bass.. that certainly brought the SSL magic. Is that G Compressor going to affect all channel though, or only if the Comp track channel switch is activated? And what A/D interface is the mixer connected to?

Expecting parametric EQ on both channels of a mixer "at that price point" is a huge ask. One channel of SSL 500-Series parametric EQ is $900 USD. It isn't a Mackie.
Not only that but with the send/returns, you can easily add whatever modules you want to this. These are perfectly serviceable EQs for most simple recording tasks and even some mixing. If you need something more, you can put it inline.
After reading some of the comments of the reviewers its obvious some can't afford to purchase it, rather not have it or simply haters of the product so don't slam it without even experiencing it hands on. I did my research before purchasing and no regrets here.

LinaaaOfficial some musicians like to combine 3 or more analog synths to make a Poly synth, and if you only have a 2 input channel’s on your audio interface, here is were you can use a mixer like this.
You can use another mixer and feed it into one o for the stereo ins and use the preamps/comp/EQ on this for main voice/instrument, DI... or may be to shape and color a whole mix or bus, add some extra hi Q channels... and then there are the sends and return, for creative FX routing and what not... I guess you’d need the Sub expander for wilder affairs
I use it to record all instruments , even drums (3 mics) using the talkback mic for the kick. It's great for mixing down, and the fidelity is satisfying for anyone who has experience using SSL it's the shit. I love it.

When he was doing the bus compressor demo with the 808 clone I would have liked if he would have turned the decay of the kick drum up a bit to let the usual 808 boom in to see how the compressor handles it.

I don't know how good or bad that bass is, but the sound is amazing!! However, a more interesting test might have been with your cheapest bass, Gaz, (I respect the fact this may not be possible!! Haha) as this mixer is obviously being marketed towards a smaller studio setup and possibly such a setup and band might not have the most high-end instruments...I suppose what I'm saying is it would be interesting to hear what the mixer can do for a low-budget setup.
I think the Rick was quite a good choice because (in my opinion) they sound a bit weedy in a DI so it's a good test of how the mixer handles bass guitar.

No. It’s perfectly possible to implement an interface that’s in parallel with the analogue outputs rather than digitising all the inputs as they enter the mixer, which is what most digital mixers do. If you’re recording into a DAW the audio has to pass through a digital interface anyway, so a good one built in to the mixer would make sense. Though paying that kind of money for what amounts to a small mixer with inadequate eq, dynamics and so few channels doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest.
I found your review interesting, BUT I'm glad it's analog-only, god knows it will last a lot longer than, USB, Thunderbolt, PCI, etc, like real good analog gear it will always work, while that interface will be yesterdays fish paper
The most thorough review of this product by far......thanks Gaz...

Terrific demo/review! Having no experience with anything approximating a true recording console, I learned a bundle from watching this.

Gaz, we need a studio tour
exactly what i was thinking
MrDschiesus 🍳 sactly my thoughts too
Yup. I especially want to know what you have in there that requires you to strap yourself into that chair LOL. (Yes I know... but it's a strange place to hang your back pack :-))
yes please!
Woo ok if there is interest in that, we will have to have a look. Damn I would need a proper tidy up first!
@@poserp ok cool it's pretty similar to how i used it except that i don't use the monitor part as i have 3 sets of speakers to listen to my mixes
The SSL SIX has replaced my $6k lunchbox in my small studio. LOVE mine.
How do you feel about it a year out, if you don't mind my asking?
@@G.GordonMidi it you want to augment your digital interface with some analog hardware, the SSL SIX is a perfect form factor.
Quality has a price folks, and I love it
A TwelvE would be awsome.
Even if it could sum up 12 inputs. But only four outputs if i understood weel.
This mixer has some interesting quirks and features. for $1500 you get 2 hi gain mic preamps, 3 compressors, a crazy limiter, a 12 channel summing mixer with SSL build quality that will out last a Behringer and sound better than a Mackie or Yamaha. I agree with Gaz on the design quirks like the basic EQ, the fussy layout and design, but it seems like a good price for an SSL.
oh but that's not all... then you get to buy a couple of d-sub cables for $250 so you can connect your outboard gear! lol
Couldn’t you put an other eq like he did with the reverb ?
Wonderful Demo :)
I have had it for 14 days. What people may not realize is the amazing sound quality for mic and DI. It beats the RME pre-amps in UFX for example.
.
Quite familiar with pres in RME, Prism Sound, and Apogee...does it compare to any of these?
bigdap100 I tested against RME UFX 2, which
I have. Used 2 Schoeps mics, running one in via Six and one directly into RME. Could heard difference.
I have had mine for 3 months and could not be happier. I/O is great for a small studio

Best review I’ve seen of this unit. Balanced and thorough, thank you
Just got mine yesterday, it sounds really good
The best review of the Six I've come across.
What an excellent review vid! Your the man, Gaz!
Eh, it's okay."
-My *internal dialogue* while mixing
I have been saving up for an Industrial radio bass but I need one of these in my life now.
FYI, "pfl" below the "mute" buttons are "Pre fader" activations. You can switch the cue behaviour to post via the cue post in the "foldback" master section on the far right.
@StringerNews1 yes as "PFL" could just as well =\< "People Find Loudness" :)
I use mine strictly for vocals and drum machine paired with a blue robbie with a telefunken tube. Absolutely mind blowing sound. Puts the vocals right up front. Can be aggressive in the mids but its nice
1 channel on the damn thing is worth more than the cost of the mixer and most people still think it should have an audio interface.
Great demonstration / walk through of the SSL Six. I am considering purchasing this now, and you video was super helpful. Cheers!

It's festooned? I'm sold!
So nobody is going to talk about how sweet, thick, and mellow that old ric is...I want that bass with the old flat string included...name your price!
What’s that small omni capsule mic called?
Does the compressor have Sidechain?
My 2 cents: Having two channel strips of a SSL console for 1100$ is a great idea. However one knob compressor and super limited EQ just makes it way too stiff for tracking various sources. The layout looks messy and cheap - hide the inputs and outputs behind the unit! I'm sure some people will find this usefull for specific purposes, but as the compressor and eq are so limited, it's like having a sports car but only first two gears available.
Yep i hate being limited by the Eq
Great demo, Gaz! Thanks for making and sharing.
Love the review brotha, thank you. Cant wait to use mine 🙌🏼
Thanks Gaz!
How do you track a vocal, while paying back the music from the Daw ???
thats what I want to know
You can do that in about 4 different ways. You can monitor your daw without it going to the main bus through ext 1 or ext 2, while recording the main bus. Or you can monitor your daw through the main bus and record the cue send directly to your daw. Or you can record Bus b by muting the channels which will send them to bus b. so so many ways.
Where did you get the talkback mic
do you think the preamp is better than a bad apollo preamp for mics?
11:10 a bunch of people will buy this just for that one button!
What’s the Effect you connect to SSL six
Nice review.. Very practical run down of the features..
Gaz is such a fantastic bass player.
It's a shame they didn't have room for a sidechain compressor hpf on the input channels. There's a 50hz hpf on the buss comp (which is why it sounded better here), but even that is a little too gingerly for most program material. Would love a version with 125hz sc hpf available on all the comps.
Amazing review ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿. Better than SSL’s own review 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

@@antiHUMANDesigns you would get more dynamic range because of the increased bit depth. And the higher end would sound more natural. Ok,
@@ET2carbon 24bits is already more than enough.
Festooned! What a fantastic word! Not used enough.
I'd really like one of these but I'll wait to buy the 2.0 they should put out with an interface and some of the design issues fixed...
eggfooyuong SSL Eight perhaps
What's all the extra background noise while you talk? is it from the mixer?

Daniel

TBH, I'd sooner have a maximum number of individual outputs than an integral audio interface that will be using some soon to be obsolete connection format or drivers that are no longer supported.
I have a Mackie Onyx which has Firewire and the drivers have never been certified by Apple or Microsoft.
if not the SIX, then what is the next closest product out there in Aug 2021?

I wouldn't put line input instruments into the micpres. That's what the stereo channels are for in my setup. I use the micpres for guitar and bass. The versatility of this unit is amazing and the sound is way above anything on the market at this price. I don't think it's an upper low end product at all. It is a great tool for any small home studio.
good style of presentation
If it can send pre-channel compresor audio, may be mixing it with the comp’d audio would do for a nice Parallel Comp.

you can plug in a splitter
I added a headphone amp 100 Canadian,40 US
have you still got it? Thanks!
I guess that you mean ones that you added?
hi do you lose any audio quality if you record from the B-BUSS ? compared to the min buss outputs ,,thanks
No, you lose no audio quality at all as it is pure analogue, going to BusBis just another way out of the unit bypassing the Bus compressor.

Just curious what exactly do you use a mixer like this for on what kind of projects? Since there's so little input channels.
I love it.
@@gavin4848 love my 6 as well!
Gavin Shear So interesting... how do you position the talkback mic?
This mixer is absolutely great. I can't believe you're saying it's expensive.

new strings?
When he was doing the bus compressor demo with the 808 clone I would have liked if he would have turned the decay of the kick drum up a bit to let the usual 808 boom in to see how the compressor handles it.
Max Matson ah yes good idea, sorry I missed that.
No problem. I appreciate you replying back!👍✌
what monitors is he using?
Big ones are genelec, little ones are ik
Great review Gaz, but I was irritated by a constant hissing noise during the review. Was this the desk (I doubt it), or your hair rubbing on the worn mic?

4:39 “no audio interface”…7 seconds later I’m off to write this and then start looking at the SSL BIG SIX
Excuse my ignorance but isnt not having the audio interface built in what gives it its analogueness the analogue sound out then captured?
Love your videos! Thank you!
I found your review interesting, BUT I'm glad it's analog-only, god knows it will last a lot longer than, USB, Thunderbolt, PCI, etc, like real good analog gear it will always work, while that interface will be yesterdays fish paper
Thank you!
