I've been eyeing the SSL SIX for a short while, and I can't wait to see how you guys use it. It was a surprise to see the SSL SIX pop up as a GEEK TALK subject... especially since my UA-cam history is full of SSL research. I thought this was just another UA-cam recommendation until I saw it was you, Vaughn!

I think it was a great purchase Vaughn.
Even used a single summing stereo signal, it will improve the overall noise-to-ratio for your tracks.
I have the SSL-2 and I do notice a slightly improved overall distortion reduction and greater bandwidth 👌
Love mine... Best mixer that can be easily obtained by us mortals without 10's of thousands of dollars!

Interested to see how this goes. It costs $2300 here in Australia. Disclosure have the same mixer and also the Fusion.
If this was the 90's I would have ordered one :) although it does make me want to get the gear out of storage and starting making music again.
Are you using this for putting an analogue sound in your mix?
How did it work out in the end? Did you notice an improved sound?

how has this treated you guys is there any updates? does seem like a good bit of kit but overall im stuck between adding somthing like this or an actual good compressor on a rack

I have a 500 series rack and I’m thinking about getting the ssl channel strip for it. Wondering if i should save for this instead.
As a recovering gear addict, I have to stop watching this video early before I start thinking i need this for making horrible covers in my basement 🤣 .... so I'm leaving this comment for the algo instead and will watch you next vid 2 times

Have u considered purchasing UAD/Apollo and SSL eq/G-Buss compressor plugins?
Hi David!! My mix engineer Andy has that UAD setup and we use it all the time, it is great!! VG :-)

How can you do summing with that?? do you mean add some analogue circuitry???

@@VaughnGeorge Yeah but how is that summing and not revamping or adding analogue saturation. I would think there is not enough channels to do all the busses or did you only have 4 busses to Sum?

Just add the Ssl+ and it's nearly the same set up
24 minutes of looking at the thing; doesn't even switch it on! Maybe do another review once you've used it and let us know whether it lives up to your expectations!

Analogue summing on 2 stereo tracks and 2 mono? Seriously?) And by the way it is good mixer, but sterile as f.
"Sterile"?? Strongly disagree!! We have used this piece of kit extensively on my new album. A/B comparisons between "In the box" mixes as opposed to stems mixed through the SSL. The SSL version is a hands down winner, adding something that is not evident on the "in the box mixes". VG :-)
To be fair you can sum 12 channels. Not only 6.
