Aside from the Ventrac being impressive, It's equally impressive how fast nature starts to reclaim an area the moment humans turn their back on it - even something as pristine and kept as a golf course!
#save soil. why cut down baby trees? we need plant life to regenerate the soil that man made fertilizers destroyed…. the same soil destroyed that not even homes can be built there unless the topsoil is removed. thank god man turned their back so that nature good heal itself… think sustainably..

Probably need to watch out for the ground wasp too. I once stirred up some mowing in worst conditions. Luckily I got away from them quickly. I love mowing like that. Go Ventrac!!!!!
I like that you pay attention to the wildlife instead of just blazing through and mowing over it. They're just tryna stay alive, outdoors......where they belong.
That looked quite a bit nicer. Thanks for pointing out the snake and spider family. I don't know exactly what structure you refound but it was a good move to remember history. Nice you are learning useful maintenance on the new equipment, like the screen you cleaned so it wouldn't overheat. The overhead picture series was good. Nature was reclaiming the area. That is a remarkable amount of tree growth now.
Another great video, Brad! The Tough Cut had no problems with the cedar and pine trees. A lot of great memories on that golf course by many I’m sure. Sad to see it has been abandoned all those years. Can’t wait to see what you get into NEXT with the VENTRAC! It sure is a fun machine to run!
Brad, your now the number 2 best lawn care channel on UA-cam. There is another who took the number 1 spot. The new best lawn care channel on UA-cam is... wait for it... April Fool"s! You're still number one lol
I keep forgetting to record when I do stuff. I just have that drive once I get started I dont stop till its done. I'll have to slow down a bit and create more stuff. Nice video.
It is tough. Filming with multiple cameras is a real bear. I easily spent 45 minutes to an hour of the 2.5-ish hours I was here on filming/camera management.
8:08 - This may just be visible on my phone's screen but I love that it looks like the wheels aren't even turning! It makes the beast look even... Beastier? Anyways, thanks for this awesome video! I genuinely love this :') can't wait to see more!
I’m SO glad you got the OK to do this…saving history, I applaud you! And I love that you pause to show up all the critters but how on earth did you even see the momma Wolfie?!?
This video is very interesting for me personally. I currently work for Ventrac on the tractor line.....I put in the hydraulic hoses for this beast. But the ironic thing here is, in the background is a Rayco Hydrostumper......i used to work for them a well. Great video and welcome to the Ventrac family!!!
It's a shame that so many golf courses have gone by the wayside. Especially for homeowners that bought homes near it thinking it would continually be maintained.
Before any dirt is removed, call a local metal detecting club & let them have fun detecting. Silver dimes were used at one time to mark the golf balls. I'd love to watch their UA-cam videos.
EPA rules are absolutely nuts.. insanity... You know how many people heavily fertilize their lawns like crazy? A lot! so what when you buy a new house or do a renovation you have to tear up your lawn 2 feet down? I mean its positively ridiculous...
Watching that ventrac in action making short work of those pine trees is very interesting but getting a little tutorial on local wild life at the same time is a bonus. Thanks Brad. Needless to ask if you are happy about aquiring that little beast to your arsenal...it speaks for itself. Keep it up and stay safe man👍
Oh wooooow I wouldn't have thought it could take down that thick of a tree or even cut down multiple saplings like that at once! What is the max thickness of the pine you were able to take down with the Ventrac? Also, am I the only one that found the vines getting ripped off sound so so satisfying?
Could u show us the blades on that beast sometime? Do they need sharpening like a regular mower? Also great production quality on this one.i love the first person and serial shots.well done once again Brad!
I see a new movie coming out- "Brad and the Beast"! I live in an apartment now, but sure miss growing up with wheat combines and pea harvesters! I wish that we had a Ventrac when I was younger; it sure looks like a great piece of machinery1 Cheers!
Now that is some serious over grown grass, I bet that the new owners will be surprised when they stop by next time to see what else they got to do lol really liking the before and after shots
How often does the radiator screen need cleaning? It seemed you didn't rum long until it needed cleaning. Also is transmission a hydrostatic drive or do you actual have to shift into reverse?
Depends completely on the conditions. I don't know when it does or doesn't need cleaning so took a water break and since I was at the truck decided to blow it off. Hydrostatic transmission, no shifting unless you want to switch between low and high range.
Hallo mr Brad. Quick question.... is it for the historic preservation or is it fot the fun you have. No problem stick to your storyline and the rest of uz enjoy the videos with you. Thanks for answering my previous question. Are you still cutting lawns and do pressure washing. Or is that now on the back burner. Karima South Africa
Both! I love having fun while preserving history! :D I haven't cut back my regular maintenance lawns, pressure washing is only when the calls come in for it.
Personally I liked the land the way it was. Nothing wrong with some undeveloped woodland. If I were a homeowner there I'd be happier living next to a forest than a golf course. Hell, turn it into a walking trail if it really needs any development at all.
Because of the articulation they can't seal it 100%, but I have sat in their cab with heat in 20ish degree weather and it gets you so warm you have to take off layers. There is unfortunately, NO AC option, though, as that would consume HP from the motor.
It does have an option enclosure, just no AC. Since this is a compact tractor the engine offerings don't have the horsepower to run a compressor without sacrificing performance of the machine/attachments.
Aside from the Ventrac being impressive, It's equally impressive how fast nature starts to reclaim an area the moment humans turn their back on it - even something as pristine and kept as a golf course!

Glad you enjoyed it!
That's the coolest mower I have ever seen!!!
Or I guess it's a bush hog type of mower?
It is a tractor that has ~30 attachments. This attachment is the Tough Cut deck.
Love the Ventrac! That was cool removing all the growth from the front of the leader board!
It was satisfying for me to rip off those vines!
Early gang!! Can't wait to watch, gonna be great

Ventrac should be sponsoring this channel. Great advertising.
You must have missed the FTC disclaimer at the start! :D

Hey, I'm curious, do you make sure you aren't running over any Longleaf pines?

The fact that fertilizer use on the old golf course has 'poisoned' the land should make us all question our interaction with the natural world.

Good lord, who was the superintendent that put down that much fert!?
Those forks and wheels on the box sure do take some abuse, knocking everything over before the cutter can get to them.
Agreed! Thankfully the wheels are no flats.
One thing is certain. You are definitely getting your money's worth out of that riding mower.
