    Great comparison Josh! Honestly, I am most impressed with the Blackmagic out of all these tests haha. Zf is fun, but this also confirms how I felt about it for video. I have much better cameras for that purpose, but man is the Zf such a fun stills camera

      Thanks Tyler! Yeah the BM cameras always do well with dynamic range. I agree, the Zf is a fun camera but you could definitely use it for video from time to time.

      The blackmagic looks nice...i didn't expect it wouldn't be but I had forgotten how good Blackmagic actually is.

    Cheers, I have enjoyed this series. I bought a ZF as I wanted a lords of the ring camera, 'one camera to rule them all', I'm not a pro anymore and so can't justify lots of different bodies and so I'm doing my family photos on it, my hobby photo's plus running my UA-cam Channel on it and for that IQ wise I think its up with the best of them in my niche. I know its not the best but as you say, it does a pretty good job of video.

    Nikon Zf does a great job, this is a still camera vs 3 CINEMA camera. So no surprise here, great comparison. Like you said this is not a camera to buy if you are looking only for video, but definitely more than usable if you need some video.

    I really liked seeing the zf against big hitters like the Komodo and r5c (well also the bm6kff cuz it’s performance in the shadows was a surprise to me!)thanks as always Josh! I’m just a fan of all the systems and more shared today

    Got my bmpcc ff today, very happy! I took it at a discount.... I bought it at the very beginning of the promotion and just took it away today. A parcel was sent to my country (Russia) for a long time (thanks to the sanctions, which in fact do not work but add problems), I had to send it through Dubai. We have these companies here that are engaged in such imports. As a result, together with all the consequences, I saved from 50 to 100 thousand rubles approximately. In dollars, this is about 500-1000 bucks. I'm very glad, I'm sitting smelling the smell of new technology ahahaha))

    Great review Josh. ZF is definitely impressive! I could see it being a good cruise camera for both stills and motion. 🚢

    Blackmagic 6K FF takes it over the Komodo in this test. I thought the Nikon ZF highlight is just a little better than Komodo but is bettered by Canon R5C which is better still by Blackmagic.

    Which brand of hybrid cameras do you recommend for a hobbyist in a relatively low budget?
    I think about the R8, Zf, S5II, etc, or the APSC ones like R10, Z50, A6700, XS20, etc. Or some others like that.
    - The lens situation isn't that important, i can use manual lenses, and for AF I can adapt my old DSLR lenses (I have Nikon and Canon)
    - The use will be mostly photo, but i want good enough video too
    - I need video files that are easy enough to edit in a basic laptop (core I5, 12° generation, no dedicated GPU, 32gb ram, short videos)
    Thanks for all the information you give to us

    UA-camrs are divided over the 422 and 420, some says 422 while others says 420, but glad you confirm for 420.. wish it had 422...
    Can u do overheating test at 10 bit 420 at highest bitrate as im am looking forward for video work..

      @Josh_Sattin  3 місяці тому +1

      All you have to do is read the manual. It's 420 when recording the H.265 10-bit internally but you can get 422 out over HDMI. I hope to get some overheating tests done before my final review. Thanks for watching!

    So strange, it looks like z8 is better, i thought stacked sensor will be more limited in DR.

    out of curiosity did you black balance the R5C before the testing?

    • @Josh_Sattin
      @Josh_Sattin  3 місяці тому +1

      Yeah I did that for the R5C, Komodo and BM.

      Unfortunately I don't have a Z8 anymore. It was a loaner.

    No slr style camera with twisty display is photo centric... Just useless in pro environment.
