Yes, and still good to check because you wouldn't want to miss something or make assumptions that turn out to be wrong. And because even if someone is panicking it doesn't necessarily mean they couldn't also have a medical problem. If someone is susceptible to panic attacks anyway, then serious medical symptoms would certainly be a possible trigger that might lead the person to panic.
Although, I feel like a few simple breathing exercises might have been helpful and could have been done without interfering with any of the tests. A lot of people coming into the ER could use some help dealing with fear and stress even when they do have something medically serious going on.

I am sure they did what they always do. Mask the symptoms with copious amounts of SSRI without getting to the root cause. Mom and Dad were very much about treating whatever was possible at home through old fashioned methods. I’d use a bread poultice on my own children if the need ever came up. With the state of healthcare now and waits for a doctor’s appointment potentially taking weeks, I’d rather try some good ol’ fashioned medicine during the long wait at least. :)

Panic attacks can be excruciatingly painful. I had one where my entire body seized and my hands froze in agonizing claws. It was awful. So idk why you’re doubting these medical professionals.
When I had serious double pneumonia, it was nice to have breathing treatments and food just appeared. I had gotten so sick that I wasn’t eating very much because it took so much energy to prepare and eat something. I hadn’t realized I had gotten so sick. But the triage nurse sent me right back and I was admitted to the hospital in under two hours. It was a serious wake up call, now I pay more attention to how I’m feeling and try to take better care of myself. It’s been 4.5 years now, I call this my “second” life. I could have died. If I had waited another day or two, I probably would have ended up on a ventilator. I could tell that the medical staff were giving me simplified summaries of what was going on. But I was too tired to have a longer conversation or ask questions. Fortunately my mom traveled to be with me and I signed the paperwork for her to talk with the doctors. So she got the full story from the doctors. She filled in the holes when I was feeling better. I was glad she was there, if I had been put on a ventilator then I would have needed someone I trusted to speak for me. She also cared for me after I left the hospital which made a big difference. Now I’m working on living my second life the way I want to live and not to meet someone else’s standards. This life is mine and I will decide how I’m going to live it. I’m much happier with this way of living. I’m making my little corner of the world a better place. Very few people change the world, but I can change a small part of it and it makes a difference to the people I interact with.
Unfortunately they don't show the reality of our health service. My friends mother , in her 80s, fell and broke her hip. She lay on the floor for 4h before an ambulance came then sat in the ambulance outside of A&E for 6h with a broken hip before being examined... what a shit show the NHS has really become.
Google says a donkey jacket is a type of thick work jacket (usually dark blue) that men wear who work outside. As for "eat Vic", I had to ask a British friend of mine, and she said she had no clue what it means, but in the context my guess is that it's Vick's VapoRub. It has menthol in it and helps clear the sinuses and lungs when you have a cold. Don't think you're supposed to eat it, though. lol
Wife said she was depressed and he was good with her. I was wondering if she was depressed because she married her high anxiety, hypochondriac husband. 😳 I understand he has reasons to feel that way from his upbringing but, he is reading a lot of medical stuff on google or something,
She said that people don’t see the other side of him and how he in turn, reassures her. She said when they first met, she was diagnosed with ME/chronic fatigue syndrome which led her to spiral downwards. But he supported her through her illness and she also says he does little sweet things to make her smile during their marriage. They are really total opposites in their personalities but sometimes that makes it work.
Tom comes in presenting with severe chest pain and they take 40 minutes to do something as simple as an ultrasound?? No wonder the British are complaining about the state of the NHS... Shocking
This is why socialized medicine will fail (I'm in Canada and our health system is similar to Britain's ie: taxpayer paid and struggling), 3 cases here and 2 of them really had no business being the emergency - panic attack and floaters in the eye, both should have made an appt to see their GP
Why doesn’t the ER triage nurse tell them to go see their GP or go home to get a bandaid/plaster? (Truly I am curious.) I realize in the evening and weekend GPs aren’t available, but really a sliver and small cuts can wait. And some of these people have waited 3 days to go to the ER anyway.
This makes no sense, considering both patients sincerely believed they had life threatening conditions based off of concerning symptoms they had. The young man was worried about a punctured lung/heart issue and the older man was worried about a detached retina. Both of which, had they been true, would have required immediate medical attention which is what A&E is there for. Remember, these are laypersons, not medical professionals, so of course they couldn't have known the reality of their less-than-serious medical problems until they were made aware of them after thorough testing & care was given. I assume they were referred to a GP afterwards. What you're fearmongering about is not the horrors of "socialized medicine," it's literally how the hospital and medical system is supposed to work! Experiencing scary symptoms? Get to a doctor asap DUH! This is what every emergency PSA you're taught in school, work etc, urges you to do...
Come to the US, where the quality of care and your ability to get it is determined by your ability to pay for it. Hospitals are only required to get you medically stable enough to no longer be at imminent risk of death if you can’t afford care. Even that minimum standard is being routinely challenged in court by politicians now. Worse, get injured at work through no fault of your own, and get trapped into the Workman’s Compensation scheme here, where you need a lawyer for every doctor visit and can subsequently be denied employment for having ever been injured at work in your lifetime. This is where Canada and the UK are headed, because you’re being convinced that Darwinian for-profit healthcare is the best solution for everyone.
A true panic attack completely mimics a heart attack particularly in women. Crushing chest pain, sweating, etc. I was firmly told by ER docs to come in every time because of that. I haven’t had one for years, but am grateful that ER treated it seriously. 😢

And they get them. Have true pain and not an addict, they throw you a Tylenol
Is there anyone who actually LIKES being in the hospital??
Hospital staff. Idk tho they may be held hostage. I like the idea of working there but idk maybe I'm brainwashed.
Rocky seems to like it.
I didn't mind it, I felt relief and I felt safe while I was there.
@@katb504 I'm happy to hear that. And thank you for setting me straight. 😄
What was it that she said he used to eat if he had chest pain? 'Eat Vick?'
Rickey might benefit from psychological counseling. Life is too short to lead it with pessimism 24/7.
Evening all.

What does “eat Vic” mean? Also what is a donkey coat?
Google says a donkey jacket is a type of thick work jacket (usually dark blue) that men wear who work outside. As for "eat Vic", I had to ask a British friend of mine, and she said she had no clue what it means, but in the context my guess is that it's Vick's VapoRub. It has menthol in it and helps clear the sinuses and lungs when you have a cold. Don't think you're supposed to eat it, though. lol
My grandmother used to eat Vicks salve. Her family immigrated from Great Britain. ?@@crispychrissy
@@lorawiseman8847 Oh, that's interesting... I'm from the US and we only use it as a rub on your chest or upper lip to get the benefits, not eating it.
Thanks everyone.
My aunt who was a nurse before she had a brain tumour said you can eat Vicks
Was she saying her dad ATE Vick's Vapo Rub? Or does Vick mean something else in England? Sorry for my ignorance.
The same, as a kid a friends mom gave them it to eat for sore throats. Nice petroleum product
@@vanessaevans6340 Ha! Thanks. I pictured dipping fingers into the tub of vapo rub and eating it. Ew!
She did say ate.
England has NHS. Why do people not go see Dr as needed? Seems silly.
long wait times to see docs
its kinda like this in the US too which sucks for everyone
Don’t know how she puts up with that hypochondriac.
Corporate ownership is corrupted by excessive corporate greed. They are after a buck not good patient care.
The doctor treating the young guy is ueseless
I thought she was awesome!
Um… how???
@@SensationalBanana he didn't know what he was treating for ages
A few Years ago, I thought I was having a heart attack. The pain was really bad. First the fire department paramedics first arrived then the Ambulance came they decided to take me to the hospital to check if I was having a heart attack. It turned out I was having a panic attack. Since then I have suffered a couple more panic attacks. One where I couldn’t breathe and my left arm felt paralyzed. The doctor and the nurse at the medical clinic were very good. They put me on oxygen and the nurse calmed me down. It turned out I was having an asthma attack and this caused my panic attack as I had never had an asthma attack before. Panic attacks are real and could be dangerous if you don’t have medical assistance.
