This is not just mere a story plot for an mv but all these painful events actually happened to yoongi in real life. my heart feels so heavy I can’t stop crying. I’m just glad yoongi is still with us today.
i'm just relieved to know that he's at peace today, and he is healing slowly but surely. today's Suchwita ep with Namjoon brought me so much comfort. i'm so glad that Yoongi is still there to grace us with us with his presence.
we always thought that Agust D’s eye scar was from a battle… all this time it was actually self-inflicted. it was from a battle with himself. The 'invisible scar' from the inner self after gone through a lot of traumatic events in his life.
Please note the split-second image of a hand holding almonds at 4:26. This is a reference to ALMOND: A NOVEL about a guy who has trouble identifying and describing experienced emotions because of a neuropsychologic condition (alexithymia). The "almond" refers to the amygdala, an almond-shaped area of the brain. Yoongi was seen reading this book in a preview to IN THE SOOP. The book is on Namjoon's recommended list.
Just my own take, I'm almost so sure he self-harmed at some point, I can't forget that verse in 'The Last' where he opened up about going to a psychiatrist, and the long censoring monotone beep to the question that was asked "Have you ever ---------". At that point most people were speculating it was the doctor asking about this, and in the song he replied 'unhesistantly, I said I did it'. That was his first mixtape. But having that in mind, this song and mv just made so much more sense to me now, the pen knife and the self inflicted injury on Agust D's face. I never thought about the reason behind the concept of the scar, I always just assumed it was to look cool in the MV. But it probably was so much more than that. He's been so transparent with his personal struggles through Agust D. As someone who suffered from depression at a young age and had to face a lot of consequences because of it, I can relate to him so much. And nobody can imagine the amount of things he had to go through, the way he was feeling during all of these, none at all
I'm just super proud of yoongi to actually get past through such struggles in his past along side the struggles and hate that bts faced together as well. Yoongi is super brave to actually put this out there remembering those dark memories of his life. The shoulder accident during doing a pizza delivery, the lyric when he said " My accident I couldn't even tell someone" breaks my heart. his struggles with anxiety, depression, hate, physical and mental health. This music video is so dark but so real. we can see the true story of what suga has suffered through.
This MV was just so raw and powerful, the lyrics are so full of raw emotion which I can partly relate to. And I just love Yoongis acting also there were bits that made me cry and get emotional. I can relate to it on such a personal level too as I no exactly what he is saying in this MV and song as I've been thru all that. He also said F**k to trigger warnings aswell (which this mv triggered me so much but yet Yoongis voice comforted me in a way only I can understand)
Agust D is a memory, or born out of trauma or his unconscious mind or his identity was split due to trauma. The one who drove off a bike to deliver the things was Yoongi. He went into an accident. His inner self was split due to many things he suffered since his birth, during his childhood and teenage years. Just an assumption. Psychologists will understand more. It's very deep and emotional song. He's sharing all his life events which traumatized him, and he also did self-harm and depression around that time. His inner self has been healing these years. So, he will start from fresh again.
This mv was him telling his true story the bike accident happened when he was a trainee he injred his shoulder and hid it from the company for fear he would be fired. It took eight years for him to get surgery to fix his shoulder. He is showing his past struggles and walking a way from it amygdala is the thing in our head that contros fear and threats to us.
my favorite from the album, because he told us his story and got so vulnerable. Haegeum is also my favorite from the album. It's hard to have a favorite when none of the songs are skips. You should check out D-Day. The album is a masterpeice. He's on tour right now. I will be seeing him on May 16 in Oakland, CA. The scene where he is a delivery boy is a real event from his past. When he was a trainee, he had an accident on his bike when he was working as a delivery boy. He had to do that because they had no money and he thought that the agency would let him go if he told them what happened, so he just kept going and doing dance practices with a broken shoulder. Years later he got surgery to fix it, in 2020. He's always open about his mental health issues, and strives to help people in his music with his raw and honest lyrics. He is an amazing artist. I can't wait to see him perform live. I've caught a few fancams from his first show in Belmont Park, New York. It's fire.
My heart hurts so much for Yoongi. He is the strongest man I have ever seen. It is heartbreakingly beautiful 💔😢 so glad he said he overcame all his trauma now 🫂💜
The music video already has a trigger warning added…the mv is so raw and beautiful im so proud of him releasing this and talking about this past :( thank you for your reaction😕🤍
This songs was a real story about him not just a concept, if u read the lyrics that's so deep bcs it's about his mental health, maybe for non army it's just like a normal song and normal story but for us who know about his story we can't stop crying and even some of us can't watch the music video bcs we feel triggered, I'm so proud of him bcs he can survive until know and also he dared to share his story with us, he's so precious💗💗
Amygdala is a part of brain that stores painful memories to teach you prevent bad events. For example if a snake bites you, amygdala stores the memory and makes you scared of snakes so you stay away. Yoongi as a trainee worked as delivery boy to pay for school fees. One day he had a car crash on the scooter, which crashed his arm. He was scared to tell bighit, afraid they will let him go. He lived many years with the pain, had surgery 8 years later in 2020. Yoongi sings “save me my amygdala”, all the events are his painful memories. His mom’s heart surgery, his dad’s cancer, his scooter crazh, and so on
I think with Yoongi, these aren’t “concepts”. With all due respect, calling these concepts may be common in kpop but in true personal expressions in music it can devalue the personal stories told through the music. ❤ This is true for BTS in general and specifically for their solo projects. He did have that accident while working as a delivery man during his trainee days. They shoulder was never treated until 2020. That’s just one thing. Thank you for your reaction ❤
this is really deep cuz all of this happened to him in real life... his car accident.. that's why he had a shoulder injury in 2020 his depression.. he always talks about this in his songs his parents illness....
Suga had a real car accident before predebut at his part time job being the delivery boy riding motorcycle he was also newspaper boy delivery newspaper and he worked a graveyard shift back in high school because he couldn't afford his family couldn't afford ... and also this song is about him in the past trying to......he was suicidal but he is no longer he will no longer do it. He reborn the lotus symbol is being reborn he is stronger now
This is actually the third music video People part 2 also has a music video it's just more conventional so I guess army's don't see it as a MV but it is
I really love how beautiful and artistic this MV is, but what I love the most is how meaningful it is! Amygdala is such a beautiful song with a huge emotional weight... Yoongi had to explore and open wounds of all these traumas and painful moments in order to liberate himself from it and rebirth in life as he mentioned in the song D_DAY too. We know this process was not easy it all, it was actually really painful like he mentioned in his documentary. I'M CRYING 😭 It's already one of my favorites ever. Thank you Yoongi for sharing this album with us, an album full of really personal stories and songs that can give strength and help other people too. I'm so proud of being an army, I'm proud of supporting him. He's an incredible artist and a really admirable person. 😭 WE LOVE YOU YOONGI. I hope in the future you have days full of happiness and love because you deserve it. THIS IS A LIVING WORK OF ART, OF MEMORIES, PAIN AND SUFFERING. THIS WORK IS CALLED "OVERCOME". APPLAUSE TO FENIX SUGA. 👏👏
THIS IS VERY PAINFUL TO WATCH. YOONGI IS STRONGEST PERSON I HAVE EVER SEEN. When you realise yoongi worked part time as delivery boy in trainee days, on a heavy rainy day he met with an accident and dislocated his shoulder, the news of his mother's heart surgery and his father's liver cancer, taking anti depressants (?), this is all the trauma he has experienced in the early years. AMYGDALA is part of brain that stores trauma, fears of a human. so this AMYGDALA by Yoongi is about not to forget these trauma, its needed to survive, live and be prepared to face any such incidents in future. This AMYGDALA is not simply any concept, its his true story, story of struggles, story of becoming a strong person he is today.
Yoongi went through all these trauma - physical and mental and its his life story. He still sang, danced, smiled for a decade with all this stress. And he is brave engh to share his traumatic past in form of this song with us. I feel pain and getting goosebumps by just watching it, imagine how he felt.
just want to tell you that this song based on his true events in the past. when he was a high school students, he used to be a part-timer worker as a delivery man but unfortunately he got an accident while working.

Thank you for all these comments and informing us about true past events. This song gets deeper and deeper the more we learn and hear it.
