I love how is everyone saying how awesome is Cause of Death, and I cant disagree, its my fav Obituary album, but no one mentions the most memorable moment of this album. Or at least for me, idk if its not as good for you. The transition from the slower songs to the super fast, super aggresive Find the Arise. Goosebumps everytime this happens. And when I gave this album a listen for the first time it literally left me with mouth open. :D
Fuck yeah! Not the same version, but that reminds me of the first time I heard that song as the opening track for Anthology. Starting with distant rain & thunder... all is quiet... then that voice... that sound... I was just as flawed... like holy shit, what is THIS?! Savage... Eternal love for Obituary \m/
It`s a good album, I saw someone ranked this here on youtube as their best album even. Personally I think it could be better if it was shorter. Death metal albums are best when they are between 35-40 minutes
I definitely agree with you on the first two because I love the grimy slasher aesthetic of Slowly we Rot SO much, but Cause of Death has just a couple more memorable tracks. Both are incredible. My favorite just depends on the day.
1. Dead (live album) 2. Cause of death 3. Slowly we rot 4. End complete 5.back from the death 6. World demise Thats my opinion.. Love the live album cause it really gots all my fav songs, Slowmy we rot, chopped in half, cause of death, im in pain, til death, threathing skies.
I'm more of a old school Obituary fan so the first 5 albums are important to me. Heres my list - 10. Obituary (only album i dont have. I haven't listened to it enough to rank high) 9. Inked In Blood (its okay but most of the later stuff lost a bit of the classic sound. No Scott Burns which is a problem for me) 8. Darkest Day (i used to play guitar to their albums. This is where i stopped. Its still listenable just i'm more into early stuff) 7. Xecutioner's Return (i actually enjoyed this 1 a bit. Its just a step backwards with their Frozen in Time album) 6. Frozen in Time (This album is a classic to me. It has a classic sound i like. Plus Allen West was still in the band) 5. World Demise (this could switch places with Back From The Dead. They're pretty tied to me) 4. Back From The Dead (Platonic Disease is 1 of my favorites. Plus this was the newest album when i got into Obituary) 3. The End Complete (Top 3 are easily the best. The timing at the end of The End Complete song i could just jam to for hours lol) 2. Slowly We Rot (used to be number 1 for many years. This was the first album i bought. One of my first death metal albums too) 1. Cause Of Death (James Murphy is on it. I know every song on guitar, its a album i never get tired of hearing. Easily number 1)
10. Inked in Blood 9. Back From The Dead 8. Frozen in Time 7. Xecutioners Return 6. Obituary 5. Darkest Day 4. World Demise 3. Slowly We Rot 2. The End Complete 1. Cause of Death
Frozen was my introduction also, not only to them but to death metal as a whole and the song Slow Death in particular. What a song. Half of it is head banging thrashiness and the other half is classic slow chugging Obituary.
Haven’t heard all of em but of the one’s I have heard 1. World Demise 2. Cause of Death 3. Obituary (I know, blasphemous) 4. The End Complete 5. Slowly We Rot 6. Back from the dead 7. Frozen in time 8. Inked In Blood (hate the production, riff writing isn’t the best either)
I must admit, there are two Obi albums I have not yet listened too…one of those you name out of the top final three….I will listen to those two, they’re on my CD box. Ok, so….World Demise is actually good. It’s got one of their best riffs….Boiling Point, also Final Thoughts, and other regular hits. It’s different, reminiscent of that mid-90s era. W/o having listened to these other two albums which will be done pretty soon, The End Complete is their most awesome so far (not including their recently released album which yet to arrive via snail mail). Second to TEC, it has to be Cause of Death, my intro to this band, had on cassette. Cheers.
Obituary is my favorite death metal band so I know there is going to be some hot takes here 10. Darkest day love the album but something has to go last 9. World demise again love this album but it just doesn't hold up 8. Xecutioners Return actually really love this album 7. Back From The Dead 6. Obituary 5. inked in blood 4. The End Complete I know this is going to piss some people off but the other albums are just better imo 3. Frozen In Time such an underated masterpiece love this album so much every song is a banger 2. Cause Of Death so good but nothing can beat my number 1 1. Slowly We Rot such a classic album every song is a hit and it has such an iconic cover art love this album sooo much
1: slowly we rot 2: cause of death 3: obituary 4: world demise 5: the end complete 6: frozen in time 7: inked in blood 8: back from the dead 9: darkest day 10: executioners demise
End complete. Because its muddy and raw. I want to say cause of death but the vocals are way too over dubbed and trounce the guitars. I'm not expecting many to agree but when you listen to the album as a whole it seems this was a instrument that was too enficised leaving everything else a little less of an impact.

Love Obituary, all albums are awesome! But there old stuff is hall of fame. World Demise is the least!! You have lost your mind!
End complete. Because its muddy and raw. I want to say cause of death but the vocals are way too over dubbed and trounce the guitars. 4. World Demise
Don't really care for the rest of what I've heard. All starts to sound the same.
