Scissorhands was definitely a project that was right up his alley. No doubt if he would’ve live longer and was healthier Tim Burton when have had him in much more of his movies
To be fair, he was one of the many old timer actors to have a sweet tooth and he's a veteran horror and sci-fi actor. So seeing the sci-fi wonders make cookies in front of him, real or fake, probably made him feel like a kid in a candy store.
It’s a lot like the breakfast machine scene. The type of scene where Danny Elfman has a great time with the music and you can really hear his personality in it.
I agree completely! Danny Elfman is wonderful and puts so much heart into his scores! Breakfest machine and cookie factory machine are both GREAT examples of that!
imagine how garish and dull this scene would be if made today. All the machines would obviously just be CGI crap instead of stunning life-sized props like here.
It is the gift, the talent, and the privilege of a scientist, and every scientist, to ask. After many years working, the good doctor decided one day to ask the question. It was the singular most powerful question that made Edwards is a hand what he wants. What he is. That question was what if. Within what if? Edward came to being. The question in question being “what if a machine was created to have a heart?“
Well it was off to one side, away from the main assembly line. That machine is like the kitchen staff making lunch for the other workers, which is presumably what it was doing for the inventor.
the celery is foreshadowing what the inventor was going to create next. the robot with scissor hands was cutting and chopping up the celergy. this meant that the robot is the Form which from that he created Edward intially because that robot is the prototype synthetic robot that Edward was form and built on. See the hands are scissors as the inventor made the celery scissors' handed robot into Edward who is a synthetic made robot. It Just took him a while to have Edward made internally to then have a face and black material covered body, but I believe the technology he had took a while for him to get prosthetic hands, onwards to human hands, and transforming those scissor hands into actual human hands. There is also a scene whereby there is a sketch book with pages of building and transforming the prototype into Edward with the last page having Edward with human hands without those scissor hands.
Considering all the mechanical stuff, such as the cookie cutters and in Edward's case a machine that chops veggies, all have head like objects attached to the top. Maybe they had a primitive, yet powerful "Brain" in them. Be it circuit chips or vacuum tubes. Something that would allow him to process the memories he had as a drone, before Price made him smarter.
Garrett Woolf here and I’ve seen Vincent price with John Wayne the duke and Clint Eastwood robert Mitchum dean martin frank sanatra Sammy Davis jr James caan and more
I like how Vincent Price looks genuinely excited during the cookie making scene. Its not just acting happy but looks happy.
Or he was just a really good actor.
i miss him ever since i was born on november ninth 1993

So cool that they used Tim Burton's kitchen for this scene!

It's a Mechanical Engineering paradise!
Someone else noticed that the mixer looks like Jack Skellington
Makes me cry every time 🖤

Vincent Price's final film role. 😥
he passed away on my mom's birthday (oct. 25th) in 1993 😭
Bring tears to my eyes.
Good Job. I always loved this scene.
Anyone else think it was kind of random to have celery in a cookie factory?

It would be better if there was no commentary
When I was 5y I loved that scene..
Thank you for posting in HD!
Thank You for this video, and how you described it 🦋🌻❣️🌱😭🎁💞🦋
the music is spooky? are you sure.. it's fun, playful and bouncy.. not spooky at all. 🙄 you can see Vincent dancing along with with.
Think about this… how is Edward remembering a time before he was made?
GREAT COOKIE FACTORY SCENE - IN EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (1990 ) FILM !!!!
I love it.
Something that doesn't make sense in this scene is how Edward remembers an event from before it was created.
Maybe the creator told him I showed him his “brothers”/other machines)

Vincent price❤❤😢
Tasteful
need this scene without someone talking. I can't find it . I want to show my G5 students for a project

I guess if you can make cookies you can build a human right?
1:49 that’s his last movie before, he died in 1993.
I've watched edward scissorhands and i got scared at the end😅
