I didn't like how they straight up lied during the run up to the game. People guessed Arkham Knight was Jason months before the game was out and they repeatedly claimed the Arkham Knight was an 'Original Character' when he was really just Red Hood with a new name and nothing else different.

I tested an early submission of Arkham Knight on PS4 for Sony. This was before some of the Rogues Gallery missions (I think Two Face and Penguin, it was 2015 so my memory is a little foggy) were fully complete. I remember my team absolutely HATING the tank sections at the start of the game. I never really minded them so much, even after launch. Sometimes the car chases got a bit annoying/frustrating but overall it addressed what I didn't like about Arkham City. Riddler trophies aside.
I think I made it about 3/4 of the way through the game on that early submission. At least until the point where you have to start tilting the zeppelin with the remote controller. The sequence was heavily broken in how everything moved when it tilted so it blocked any further progress. We're talking parts of the zeppelin clipping through other walls etc.
I like the focused design of Arkham Asylum, but I really thought that Arkham Knight delivered on everything I wanted out of a Batman game.

i have been an avid scarecrow lover for YEARS, and this has in my opinion a fantastic version of him. after his attack from killer croc in asylum he no longer is a researcher, a scientist looking for data on fear and how his toxin works. he only exists to create horror and hopelessness for everyone he can, and it’s actually terrifying. i’ve always said that scarecrow is one of the best batman villains, just under utilized and often characterized as a goofier villain (riddler gets the same treatment) but this game really nailed the terror that crane is capable of

Arkham Knight is definitely the one game out of the series that I return to the least often. The hype was real for it but after beating the game, I had sort of Dark Knight Rises feelings from it where it's definitely not bad but not as good as its predecessors. Of course the usual complaints being the overuse of the batmobile, lack of boss battles, and some questionable writing decisions.
Last month I replayed the games and finally returned to Arkham Knight after maybe 5 years and I gotta say that I do appreciate it more. The issues I had with it remain but this time I had more fun and really like the emotions of the story. Batman loses control of his city and one by one he loses his friends to the Scarecrow who is a very intimidating antagonist

What could possibly be more questionable than Arkham city inexplicably being ratified in the first place? It’s a super prison located right in the heart of Gotham, so it’s a safety hazard to the civilians. How did it even get approved. This giant contrivance is why Arkham City even happens. It doesn’t get worse than this.

I can understand watching walkthroughs or something when you are stuck in a game, or watching to see if you're interested in buying it. The game was good for one playthrough, but there is just something about it that makes me not want to play it again that I don't feel when I think of Asylum and City, both of which just feel inviting, whereas Knight just doesn't... I think it is because of the narrative/story mostly.
The Arkham Knight just comes off like such a Sonic edgelord OC character who is always one step ahead of batman and it gets annoying. And the tedium of the batmobile crossed with a lack of presence from the other, more interesting Batman villains just makes it feel less compelling compared to the games that came before. Plus the finality of the ending hurts the game IMO. I just lose desire to play after a certain point in the story.
Scarecrow was great. The Joker hallucinations were great. The way the overall story came together though just wasn't.

18:15 yeah I don’t get why developers chose this. They could have easily stuck with the already established DickxBabs relationship. I find this is a pattern with Dick x Babs always getting the boot end of the stick, like in Titans, New52 Movies, TBAS, and The Killing Joke (those last 2 with the Batman x Barbara relationship ew).
I don’t know, it has always rubbed me the wrong way, just like the Bat & Babs relationship since he’s more of a mentor & coach & sometimes even father figure to her, not to mention working alongside her dad. It’s the same with Tim since I’m so used to seeing him much younger than Dick x Babs, Barbara being more of a big sister to Tim, Stephanie, Cassandra & Damian.
At least Young Justice has portrayed them a bit more accurately.
And just Nightwing himself in general is so underutilized, barely getting any screen time. The New52 movies are another example where he serves as a punching bag and gets sidelined in favor of Damian’s story.
Here, squeezed into a side-mission and short DLC play through. Granted I love Tim, but the first Boy Wonder should have deserved better I think.

An inferior game to Asylum and City, but that certainly doesn't make it a bad game.
I liked a lot of the side content. The overall plot was good, although not always executed as well. Combat was fun and snappy, but didn't feel as smooth as city. More like they were trying to out do city, but ended up with how 90's comics tried to up the game. Voice acting/direction is amazing as always. The game looked very pretty. I played it a few years after release, so all the issues I heard of didn't show up for me.
On the negative a lot of the content is filler. Taking out base after base of the militants is just tedious. Even though I thought there were too many riddler trophies in city, it seems small in comparison this time. And they didn't feel as fun or innovative. Just there to pad out play time. The main story is too obvious. Even without spoilers, even without knowledge of batman history, the game spells out what is going on very early and it isn't a shock to anyone. And let's get to the elephant in the room. The bat tank. If it was just a couple of story missions or side quests where it was mandatory and the the rest was filler quests I wouldn't have an issue with it, but they cram that thing into so much play time that it ruined the experience. Without it being forced so much I think I would think of this game as much closer in quality to the other two. It wasn't fun or interesting, and got dull and annoying very quick.
Even with the negatives it is a good game and well worth the play time if you like the other arkham games.

The militia missions aren’t just filler. They add a sense of progression and completion since the city actually does become safer if you neutralize them. Arkham Knight is easily my favorite of the series. I think it’s tied with Asylum for most times I’ve played it. I actually never agreed with the complaints everyone had with the Batmobile, except for the fights against the cobra tanks and especially the Cloudburst. That part absolutely blows, and is probably my least favorite part of the whole game (maybe besides the Deathstroke fight after the sidequests). I’m also not a fan of the ambiguity of the ending, would’ve preferred something a lot more concrete after how clear the previous games were. I used to really hate the lack of proper boss fights compared to the other games, but I’ve gotten over that in time.
Maybe my biggest complaint is how Batman imagined Barbara killing herself and she just is conveniently revealed to have been alive the whole time. It just doesn’t make sense. Did Scarecrow plan for Batman to hallucinate her death? How did he know what Batman saw to be able to factor that into his plan? Don’t get me wrong though, I’m glad she didn’t die. Barbara is actually my favorite member of the Bat-Family and I was actually very upset when I thought they killed her off my first time through the game lol.
I do wish the Knight’s identity had been much less obvious, but I do also appreciate the fact that the game is a retelling of Under the Red Hood. Maybe instead of focusing so many of the flashbacks on Jason, we could’ve had more of them showcasing Batman’s other failures, like the one we did get of when Babs got paralyzed.
One last complaint I have is A Matter of Family. It’s not bad, but I think it’s mostly that I walked into it with the wrong expectations, and I’ve never quite gotten over it. I actually expected it to be a brief retelling of part of The Killing Joke, and what we actually got was basically a throwaway story that I don’t think served much purpose at all beyond getting to play as Batgirl (which is actually a very good purpose for me!). I just wanted more from it.
All these complaints may sound like I hate the game, but no, these are really just my nitpicks. I absolutely love Arkham Knight. I’ve gone through it over and over; I think it’s the best Batman game ever made. I do wish we could’ve gotten a second Season of Infamy with more characters! The Ra’s al Ghul mission had an Easter egg showing that Talia was alive, so maybe she could’ve shown up again.
    Anyway, fantastic video. Thanks, Son!

The electric floor fight in the catwoman DLC is actually pretty simple if you know what to do: Do Not Use Takedowns! The animations take too long and the electric floor continues to expand during them. Instead just build your combo and use the double damage from Freeflow Focus and you'll complete the fight well before the arena gets too small, although it would be more difficult if you get hit or drop your combo (losing the double damage) too often.

I honestly wish you got to play as Robin/Nightwing in the openworld for a chapter after Batman voluntarily locks himself up with the others, instead of what we got. Would have been fun and refreshing.
I delayed playing this game for years despite loving the first 2 after the debacle that was its botched release. But when I finally did give it a try I went in expecting to not like it as much as Arkham City, and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. My favorite part of the game were all the really subtle nods to the Joker madness, like shifting billboards and messages that change when you look that the game never points out to you, trusting the player to notice or not notice by themselves.
My least favorite part was how tedious/overused the batmobile was and the Arkham Knight as a villain in general. He just felt like such an edgelord and a bit of a Gary Stu at times. Real "super cool Sonic OC" vibes, lol. Still, it was great game. Though I do wish they hadn't gone with an ending that had such finality to it and rather left it more open ended even if we never got another sequel.

Think of it this way for the ending scene of this game. As far as the criminals and the rest of Gotham are concerned, Batman is dead. He blew himself up. Gone. When we see the Batman in alley with the fear toxin, the criminals are actually none the wiser that is what actually is going on. In their minds, Batman is dead, and what they saw, in their minds is not Batman using the fear toxin. In their minds, what they saw is the ghost of Batman. Some supernatural entity that Batman became after what they understood was his death. And as some of us understand or buy into, ghosts remain in the world because they have a task they left incomplete in their lives. So, criminals who see this supernatural Batman will figure that he was Bruce Wayne who died when he blew up the mansion, now returned as a ghost or spirit because Batman never completed his task of fighting crime and will continue to do so. Since to them, he is a ghost, he is no longer just a man. No longer a human. Something else entirely. Something that they have no idea will act, fuction, or even what it wants. Not even if it will leave them alive. No one knows the rules of a supernatural entity and THAT is what will scare the hell out of criminals now.

I think this story could REALLY work well if they executed a little differently. For example. I think arkham Knight should have been (sry for spelling error) damian wayne. He comes after Batman because he's mad that his mother died by the hands of Batman's greatest foe. Something along those lines. As far as i know jason hasn't really appeared in any game before so it's kinda out of the blue and weird. Damian would makes sense because talia (again. Spelling.) is an established character.
Just a thought I've had. I just personally think that would work better than jason todd does.

I was okay with most of the cast changes between the previous 2 Rocksteady games in the series, and this one, except one: recasting Kimberly Brooks as Oracle with Ashley Greene, I felt was just a mistake. In the previous 2 games, Brooks was able to convey confidence, intelligence, wisdom, courage and strength, solely through her voice, especially when you consider, Barbara Gordon was a character we never actually saw in those two games. She was the type of character with a strong enough personality to not only check Batman on his crap, but to flat-out tell him "no" when he was being too stubborn, single-minded or self-sacrificing. Moreover, when she did such things, she was able to make Batman/Bruce listen to her.
In 'Knight, Greene's portrayal was far more subdued, lackadaisical, and even whiny at times. She sounded more like a Barbara Gordon who was vying for Batman's approval or attention as opposed to before, when she demanded it.
Take the scene in Arkham City, for example, when Batman was dying of the poisoned Joker blood, and how important it was for him to focus on himself first, before taking care of everything else. She used words like, "No, you don't" and spoke with such authority that Batman had to listen to her. And, again during Protocol 10 and Bruce insisted on having her track Talia rather than ending Protocol 10. She, along with Alfred of course, forced him to think like Batman and to be the Bat.
Contrast that with the few scenes we get in 'Knight, where she whines about how Batman was "using her stuff" once he first reaches the clock tower, or how she feebly scolds him for locking Tim up in a cell at the studio. Sure, a lot of it was how poor the writing for her character was, but even so, Greene's performance was so flat, bland and disinterested that she sounded more annoyed than strong.
I think about the scene where the Arkham Knight's militia are attacking the GCPD and Oracle is assisting Batman by hacking and targeting the drones, and I think of how much more fulfilling and less tedious it would have been if Kimberly Books was voicing her at that time. Once again, Greene drops the ball by sounding so bored and disconnected from what's going on. I have to admit, I felt somewhat relieved that Oracle was out for most of the story. She was such a shell of the badass character she had been in games prior.

I cant agree with you on this one, son, for me, this was one of the biggest dissapointements I had with a sequel, not just because of the Batmobile (although it is the biggest reason), but the story...is so bad, so ridiculous...the "Joker" is now a mental condition that is contagious by blood? lol, wut?
Give me Origins over Knight any day.

I remember being very disappointed with this game. The story was mid with unworthy villains as the main baddies. And I was really bored of another Joker centered game, especially close to the end when everything was about the joker. We already had 2 whole games about him, couldn't the writers have been more creative? The introduction of the bat mobile, while cool, got boring pretty fast, especially for the Riddler missions. Overall, it underdelivered; a mysterious villain that was pretty obvious, mid tier scarecrow gas bullcrap that we've dealt with in previous games and uninspired bat mobile mini games. Only positive was the fighting.

Can you explain how you say all you know about Batman, but then at the end say you wish he stopped being Batman and just chilled or something, when right at the very end of the game, we see what? A crime taking place, the SAME one that made him what he is and you think he should walk away??? Did you forget why he does what he does and he will find some way of continuing that fight? He's not doing it for himself, you seem to think that's what it is, it's for those that can't or won't fight for themselves.
All these modern iterations of Batman focus on him walking away from the cowl, killed off or absent, saying any one else can put it on and be the same, is utter bs. That devalues the whole point of these superheroes existing in the first place, To inspire as stated, but not to be replicated like a corporate brand it's been turned into. You see how GOOD writers turned his side-kicks into their own thing, but now they just make variations of Batman or outright say they have taken his place, not continuing the fight their own way. The only time we ever saw Bruce not be Batman is when he physically no longer was able to.
A compelling thought and story is what would Bruce do if his identity was exposed, but Gotham still needed him? His friends? The best answer Rocksteady came up with was the joke that was Arkham Knights, as a game and narrative.

Read pls about the max payne retrospective its One of the worst retroprespectives i have ever seen. max payne 3 cover system is not meant to be used all the time if you abuse it you will get more damaged in the process of trying to kill enemies, cover mechanic is used for hiding for some seconds to see where all the enemies are and shootdodge or get out and start running and gunning try covering in higher difficultys you will get more damage than actually playing the game how its aupposed to be played go and see how good players play max payne 3 95% they dont use cover in max payne 1 and 2 you could just run horizontal and no one would hit you in max payne 3 if you do that you will get hit so what do you do you use ROLL, bullet time and shootdodge effectively if you aim quick and effectively you take no damage just because max payne 3 is harder and use cover all the time it doesn't mean its how its supposed to be played i wonder have you ever completed any max payne on the highest difficulty? Based on your gameplay you did not especially in your max payne 3 gameplay you looked very bad i have completed the game countless time i did no damage run and i will soon do no bullet time and no shootdodge run you are a CASUAL you dont understand the gameplay you buy a game and you play the game 3 times most and just say its a masterpiece or when you are bad you say it relies on cover mechanic "dis is no de max paine ah kno" i buy the game i master the combat and then make my conclusion you constantly play different games 1 time i play 1 game multiple times I MASTER THE COMBAT I UNDERSTAND THE COMBAT unlike you who is just a casual

      @MistahJ1940 Рік тому

Well you’re a hypocrite for saying this. Arkham city is way worse than this. Arkham city has way more story problems. Such as how did Arkham city get approved? Why doesn’t Hugo strange have tyger guards make sure Bruce doesn’t go anywhere when he has him captured? How come being smacked in the head with a metal pipe doesn’t give Bruce a concussion and doesn’t inhibit his fighting capability? How does two face sneak up on catwoman without her noticing? Why did two face let catwoman keep her claws? How did joker know that catwoman or Batman would be at the courthouse? Why doesn’t joker call off his goons so Batman won’t be delayed in his search for the cure? Why does Gotham hospitals initiate blood transfusions without first checking that blood for poisons? Why was a league of assassins ninja in penguin’s museum? How did Batman know saying ra’s al ghoul’s name would trigger the ninja to break out of the case and leave a blood? Why did the ninja attack Batman and give away her location and instead of running away while Batman didn’t know where she was? This is the reason Batman is still alive. Arkham City’s story is so pathetically and flimsily written. So many manufactured conflicts, contrivances and atrocious instances of plot armor. The demon trials make no sense at all. Why is Batman even gliding? How does this test his leader ship and fighting skills? How does Ra’s even expect his would be successors to pass the trials? Why does mister freeze destroy one of the cures? Why doesn’t freeze just tell Batman that joker has Nora so he can save her? What a disgusting character assassination of mister freeze. Why even start a fight with Batman? How did Harley know the cure was even in the safe? She wasn’t even at the gcpd building to witness freeze putting it in the safe. How does she even know that the cure will even work? Such a nonsensical and artificial way of extending the length of this story. Why doesn’t Vicki Vale’s entire chopper blow up considering how large the explosion was? How does her chopper gain altitude after the tail rotor was hit? How does Hugo even know the council will approve protocol 10? It’s basically capital punishment. Isn’t the lack of one criminals never die after being incarcerated. Likely due to capital punishment being banned. How come Batman survives from several tons of rubble falling on top of him? Why doesn’t talion just stab the clayface joker to give Batman the cure? Why form a stupid deal with the clayface joker? This would actually ruin the twist a lot earlier. Meaning if talia had a functioning brain, she’d still be alive since the real joker wouldn’t be able to ambush her. Why doesn’t Hugo’s tyger guards just gather all the inmates in a room and shoot them or put them in a gas chamber instead of the slower method of using armed helicopters? How did ra’s get the sneak attack on strange even though Batman was facing the direction ra’s was heading? Also Ra’s Al Ghul being the mastermind behind Hugo strange diminishes Hugo as an intelligent mastermind. Hugo really deserves all none of the credit for everything he’s accomplished. And the catwoman episodes slows the game’s pacing to a crawl. How did the cure end up in Batman’s right hand? Why did joker stab Batman in the shoulder, forcing him to drop the cure? Joker’s death was so clumsily executed and so unearned. By this point, two face and poison ivy were forgotten about and were wasted. Grundy is can be removed from the game and nothing would change. Arkham city easily has the worst story in the entire Arkhamverse. Batman Arkham knight is definitely a better written narrative and doesn’t have as many problems as Arkham city does.
