I love Sekiro, but I don’t think FromSoft will ever do anything like this again. It sucks to say because, in my opinion, this is their purest game. My big Sekiro video releases in 7 days. It’s been done for a while, but I’m giving myself a buffer for the Elden Ring video (which will be released in parts). Have a good day!
There is a bit of hope! Fromsoft has introduced Deflect tear in the Elden Ring DLC, and in a recent interview, Miyazaki commented that he really enjoyed the no hit runs with the deflect tear. We might never see sekiro 2 but its mechanics might come back in a new game.
sekiro is "all killer no filler" as some put it. there is no wasted space, no wasted areas, no nonsensical copy pasted bosses, dungeons, or areas, its all very unique and additive. the closest a videogame will ever come to perfection in my mind.
@@door90 keyword is nonsensical. sekiros reused bosses are intelligently and sparingly. elden ring is abysmal with the amount of reused garbage bossfights for utterly no reason.
er has actually good mini-bosses like death knights, dts, crucible knights, etc. The only good sekiro mini bosses I can think of are O'rin and MAYBE seven ashina spears
While I don't think we are going to see a direct sequel of Sekiro, I wouldn't put my hopes down to see a mechanical succesor that easily. Not only taking into account the how Sekiro has slowly influenced Elden Ring and Armored Core, but in Miyazaki's own words: "It's become something much more fluid and active, I think, which was a very defining characteristic of Sekiro, and it's something I've been thinking about since Bloodborne." "Perhaps in Sekiro, it appears more obviously or it's the clearest form that I think that philosophy can embody," "Personally, I think there's one more level we can crank it up to and sharpen that and hone in on that mechanic even more, but I think Sekiro was a big turning point"
Well there are mechanical succesors already, Sekiro's combat for sure inspired developers out there. Lies of P and Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order could be called successors of Sekiro's combat. I can't praise Fallen Order enough, it's a really good game I feel like people missing out on it
Although a game like sekiro wont be made for a VERY long time, I definitely think it opened the window for a lot of other developers to experiment with its formula. Games like lies of p, stellar blade, and the recent nine sols put their own spin on the parry central gameplay and I’ve enjoyed them all. Though it remains true that sekiro remains the best of them, I think it’s really only a matter of time before a eager developer or even fromsoft themselves creates something that will surpass what sekiro introduced us to.
Today i finished sekiro for the first time (Still playing as im going for plat) and got to say as the ending to my from software first time player marathon this game its pure greatness. Its so fast and fluid. At some points i got frustrated (damn headless ape) but it was so sweet when they went Down. I hope from software doest scrap the mechanics of this game and make another game based on these.
I personally think they will revisit. People can point out BB being left for years but we know there’s complications with Sony whereas with Sekiro - I don’t think they would make a direct sequel but I think a spiritual successor would be something they’re open to.
The main improvements needed for combat are in combat arts and prosthetics. Changing the spirit emblems system to somthing like hollow knights soul meter would be much better, this leads to players actually using these skills and not feel like they are wasting their emblems. Its not currently an issue for skilled players that already know the use case of all the prosthetics, but literally most videos I've seen of people's first time, they just don't bother with it. Another improvement would be making minor changes to help group fights, not too much help, considering you have stealth and u should not be fighting hoards of enemies, but still a simple change of increasing the radius of your block to deflect attacks coming from your sides would be a good change. And last change would be fix the stupid wall jump, you cant make use of it when locked on to an enemy since sekiro only tries kicking in the direction he is facing, hense kicking towards the enemy rather than any wall hes next too, so many cool dodges and maneuvers could be done if we could more conveniently wall jump even while locked on to an enemy
man title kinda reminds me of key & peele skits with Sekiro as lightning in the bottle, Elden Ring with SoTE as goose with golden egg & Bloodborne as High Horse
This is my second favorite game of all time. If they try making something like this in the future, I'd like to see them not reuse arenas and bosses quite as often as they did here. Still, a very nice package.
I respect Sekiro a lot for trying so many new ideas. It's a shame I don't like any of them, even after getting all the endings and beating all the bosses. I don't consider Sekiro a soulslike, but if I did, and were to rank it among FromSoftware's other Soulslikes, it would go squarely at the bottom. I could go more in-depth, but I think I'll save it for the Sekiro video next week.
