I'm still working on part I, and have been for days. But wow, I'm learning so much and enjoying it. I know this sounds like a bit of schtick, but I am actually too old to be learning new skills or so I thought but I find Pr fun and I have a decent PC that can handle it so thanks for the channel it's teaching so much in a way that is accessible. PS. thanks for the project files they make a tutorial without them they are useless otherwise great tut. although, I was confused at first by the Ai file but luckily I have a resident millennial to explain it to me which is why you should breed imo

Thanks! Another great tutorial, I am learning a lot here! Do you have a video (part) where you explain how to create the depth of field look with Geolayers 3. Although I think these AE only tuts are really valuable I am getting really tempted to purchase Geolayers for the streamlined workflow.
I think it's much easier to design the whole thing in photoshop first with layers and then import the PSD into AE, as you can then manipulate the different layers within AE.

4:41 the options that pops up for you after clicking on track matte, It doesn't show the same option for me, when i click on it i see my layers name on it. It doesn't look the same as yours, Any suggestions?
You either need to toggle the little buttons in the bottom left of the timeline panel to view the matte column, or update AE.

Quick question: Are you doing most of your sound design in after affects with these short clips. Or do you wait to import into Premier/Final Cut? I guess I'm looking for best practices when integrating clips into your explainer / documentary video. Could be a great topic?
I actually don't do much sound design at all anymore. But I've found that this Boombox extension from Mt Mograph is the best option. It works in both After Effects and Premiere Pro, so you can do whatever works best for you. www.mtmograph.com/products/boombox?ref=boone

But if I wasn't using this extension, I would probably do everything in PP.

So Im following step by step. Everything is super clear, neatly explained and i have no trouble until i get to turn into 3d part where suddenly everything starts to behave strangely. Layers disappear etc. Anyone know what i could be doing wrong?
OK for newbies stuck at this issue for 2+ hours like me, i want to explain. The 3D view menu at the bottom of the composition screen should be set to Classic 3D and not Cinema 4D. If you dont see the menu just turn one layer into 3D and it appears.
