Im getting into video journalism more these days and your channel has been such a blessing. I hope one day to share geolayers tips and tricks too so I can help ppl like you’ve helped me
I really appreciated the scaling tip on labels. I had no idea that could be manipulated right over the expression, AND retain the expression benefits! Awesome tip! Thank you!
Thank you so much for creating this video. You’re so awesome! I’ve been using geolayers, in my travel videos, totally inefficiently and my maps looks like garbage. I’m only 10 mins into your video and I’ve learned so much to speed up my workflow… I didn’t even know you could download labels?! I’m mindblown right now. Thanks again and need to get back to watching the rest of this video. 👍
Jason! Thanks for the kind words. Super happy to see you over on Patreon. Glad to hear that this video was helpful. Got a bunch of cool stuff coming over on the page. And yeah, you can get REALLY advanced with labels. I'll probably create an exclusive tutorial all about it soon. :)
@@BooneLovesVideo Love the exclusive tutorial you’ve already posted on Patreon! Can’t wait to try it out on my own maps to spice things up!! 👌 Looking forward to more!!
Hi Boone, love from bengaluru India 🇮🇳, I think u should create a paid course on geolayers3 from beginner to expert a 50 hrs course or high kind off. 👊 There are many willing to join.. 👊 WeloveBoone
This is a greeaaaat tutorial on the basics. Thank you so much! I saw the plugin has sample templates (projects), and was wondering how to go about editing them. Do you have a tut for that?
@@BooneLovesVideo I don't always have mapping requirements in my projects but one of my last ones was this one. This was one of my first uses of GeoLayers for a video project I did for my company. ua-cam.com/video/Z3Pj3vBzkME/v-deo.html (map work at 04:15)
12:25 such a lifesaver. I've been wondering how I was able to pin some layers to my map. Some worked thanks to parenting it to the anchor null, but many didn't.
You gave A student an opportunity to get work and pay his university fees. Thanks Man please make a paid course on map animation. Many Indian will buy that course. Love from India❤
its a fantastic video buddy , thanks alot for such informative tips about using geolayers, which very rare in youtube . please i have a question about the defualt labels on the geolayers, and how to remove it to make a clean map ! thank you again .
@@BooneLovesVideo cool. it will be a great course. you are good at pacing the material and you dont assume the viewer know all the small things (the things that becomes second hand/automated when you get good at plugin/program)
Yeah you can actually create a custom label template that will pull this data and show it, you just need to know how to create the label. Search for geolayers label templates in youtube. The creator put one together, and he explains how it's done. The tutorial is for GEOlayers 2 I think, but it still works in v3.
Hey Boone, I was watching one of your tuts and a tip you had was for another plugin/script to easily manage layer visibility states. What plugin was that? Hope to figure it out soon. Great videos, very helpful, thanks!
Thank you so much. This greatly improved my workflow. Do you have any idea how is Johnny Harris able to remove the attribution? Does he have a license from a map provider?
This is a question I've thought about.. So if you do all these changes, like add custom layer styles, custom label templates etc etc. Do they remain on the map somehow? Or do I need to make all these every time? Say I make a map about USA and I custom a lot of stuff. Then in a month I want to do a map about Peru. Do I need to recreate all this stuff? Or will they remain some way? Might be a stupid question 😅
Hi! Great video! Do you know if it is possible to change the composition duration once the map is created? I made a 30-second map animation, but now I need it to be a 45-second animation
@@BooneLovesVideo I have a traveling vlog and try to use some of this knowladge to make my videos more appealing, but Ae is still some black magic to me :) now I start the 4000km walking trip and lets see if i can apply some of that. Thanks as always. You are my Geolayers manual! Lol. Simple question : do you use the maptiler maps? I cannot justify the cost seeming there are other options. Admittedly not as handy for some tasks. However, I was wondering what map providers you predominantly use/ and or prefer.
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes indeed I use MapTiler, but not for everything. It all depends on how much you're actually going to use it, and if the specific job calls for it. If you're freelancing enough and using it, then naturally it's worth it.
@@BooneLovesVideo cheers mate. Hopefully I can justify the cost of maptiler 1 day. For anyone else following, you can use a mapbox map in their webstudio for free to do the same thing. The big difference is you don't get some of the controls within geolayers, you do those in mapbox and then link the map with an API. It's a bit of extra effort, but that's the cost of being free.

Is there any way to resize my map after creating it? Example: started my comp as 1080 x 1080 but want to change it to16x9. Theres no options under comp settings for it for some reason.
Can I select cities that will be visible regardless of the scale? For example, I want to see Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego in a general plan. And moving on to the close-up, I do not need the names of other cities to be shown, except for these 4
Yes indeed. You would just manually label those four, while turning off the regular labels. There are also specific controls for labels where you can specify at what zoom levels labels will disappear/appear.
When I try to create a route between two cities using the connect features option it says "Can't create route. Unexpected token in JSON at position 0" does anyone know to fix...
I'm facing a problem when I type in RTL Languages like Arabic, do you know how can I fix it in side GEOlayers? or if I can type the city name as a TEXT how can I link it to zoom and move with the map?

This has been driving insane. GEOlayers isn't attached to my panel and I have no idea how to attach it. Once the window is closed, I no longer have access to edit the map. Someone help me.
