This song has the distinction of being the very first regular studio recording that Elvis laid down in 1963. The first and only previous recording session of the year was the movie soundtrack session for Fun In Acapulco, which took place at Radio Recorders in Hollywood. For this session however, Elvis moved as per usual for a normal session to RCA’s studio B in Nashville.
The sessions were planned over two days of 26 and 27 March 1963 and yielded a grand total of fifteen songs, none of which would become major hits. No regular album emanated from this session however and the songs were destined to be bonus tracks on a plethora of soundtrack albums. It was not until 1990 that the songs from this session would be released together, on the For The Asking album, which had an apt caveat as a sub title - The Lost Album!
Echoes of Love was completed in ten takes which included four very similar sounding complete takes with only very slight instrumental intricacies being the difference between these takes. The song was released as a bonus track on the Kissin’ Cousins soundtrack album over a year after it was recorded in April 1964.
As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!
