How do you do it with a console for example a denon or pioneer so you can mix ?
Well it is nice but a little pricy. I am running a full station under control with free software. ( No not hacked or with keys, realy free ) and including the stream, licenses for the music and webpage for just under €100 a month. And with more bandwidth, higher bitrates and so on. It's sad that Sourcefabric doesn't update the Airtime software anymore. Yes there are some things you have to keep in mind for example the computer but my old QuadCore is running for 5 years now with only an HDD replacement and some dust cleaning now and then. But when starting a station, and you should have said that too, you need to have music licenses so you can play the music on your stream.

Excellent informative instructions as always. I have been broadcast streaming my radio station for about 5 years with another streaming company but Airtime looks very good. The only disclaimer I would have added is that if you broadcast copyrighted music or shows you have to pay Big Brother who will take you to court if you don't pay up. If you pay the one agency the two or three others come out of the woodwork and want their cut.
What platform do you use?
I use RadioDJ and found it to have a bit of a learning curve with little instructions. What an enjoyable experience and due to the money vultures I might have to shut down my physical FM station and change it from Southern Gospel music to talk show and informational programing. I also don't advertise except for concerts in the US.

How do you smoothly interrupt a playlist to start a live?
Awesome! If I started my own station, how would I be able to do a simple live show, no music to play but just do a simple sports talk, do sports recaps, updates, upcoming games etc. I have expertise in sports and a simple setup, USB microphone for quality recording, and software for recording audio casts to post online.

Top tip, make sure you have the appropriate licenses before you broadcast if you’re planning on playing any copyright protected music.

Hi, internet radio broadcasts globally. Some hosts can geo-fence your stream. The link for people to listen will be available in the control panel.

Noticed that you uploaded mp3 files. Wouldn't it be better to use something lossless, like Wav or Flac for higher audio quality? Thanks for sharing great content.

You can stream from your laptop to the host but I would suggest you'd need a mixer to stream if you want to mix voice and music.

Hi, Marc from Belgium, I would like to use this piece of software, not for live shows, but for shows, for example on Saturday and Sunday, I understand how you could plan such radio shows, but what do listeners have to do or where do they have to go to listen to these shows, is there a certain URL they should open, I guess so, but you do not mention that in your clip, so I was curious... please advise, best regards, Marc D.
To listen to the radio shows, viewers would need to tune in to a specific URL or frequency where the station is broadcasting.

What if I want to have a setup where I can play vinyl and such? I'm not wanting to broadcast, just want to record little shows for fun.
For vinyl playback and recording shows for fun, consider getting a turntable with a USB output for digitization, connect it to your computer, and use software like Audacity or Adobe Audition for recording and editing!

What about playing other people’s music like common music that is heard on normal radio shows and copyright and licenses?
You would need the relevant licenses for wherever you are based. In the UK that would be PRS and PPL. Without that you can broadcast non copyright material only.
When i broadcast, i can't hear what song is playing. How can i hear the same trough my headset as what's on the live
You need to enable "monitor" or "cue" output in your broadcast software to hear exactly what is going out live.

Cause I cannot find this option in Help section at Airtime personal page. The options under the "I don't have a broadcasting software" option are: 1)I'm broadcasting my voice,2)I'm DJing
The easiest way to do this is with playout software. There are free and paid options for that. You’d want to run your playout software into a mixer together with your mic and then stream the output from your mixer. There are free and paid options for streaming as well.

You will need the relevant licenses for the location you're based in before starting to stream.
where can a find a free radio service that allow to upload any songs and stream the playlist like a radio with an url and once there at least one listener everybody joining afterward would listen the same thing?
I'd suggest checking our AirTime pro as your provider and make sure you are properly licensed before you broadcast if the songs are subject to copyright.

you would need to get licensed , here in the UK we have to sign up to two organisations PPL and PRS music to be legal playing copyrighted music main stream. Of course if you dont stream mainstream music , then you can get agreement from unsigned artists to play there music!

Your safest option is to contact the host you are going to use for advice here. Radio Lichfield UK explains the process in the UK but it's different all around the world.

At it's most basic level yes but if you want to use automation software to run a proper radio station you'll find you options severely limited on the Mac platform.

Radio station testing would be done before launch. Most stations both regular radio and internet radio do run test broadcasts before they launch to test their transmission / streams and also their automation and hardware.
Once you're live, you're live 24/7 and anyone with the stream link can listen in.

Getting the tunes is down to you. As a start up station you'll be unlikely to get songs sent to you so you'll have to go out and buy the music library. There are a number of resources which supply music libraries for radio station.

Mixcloud is a streaming platform, you would still need streaming software to connect to Mixcloud but if you use this you would not need Mixcloud.

I try to stream the show I created with the rocket software but all I hear is a flicker of static notice every 5 seconds or so. Is there something I am missing because this is frustrating me.

Possibly but definitely not if you’re striving for a professional sounding station.
Classic radio needs a good channel. Todays radio conglomerates and deejays have lost the plot. they think "classic" means disco and 80's. there is still alot of boomers alive pre Beatles era, that remember what ACTUAL classic radio sounded like well into the late 70's, and early 80's that did not play ANY disco, or the obligatory "virtue signaling" Queen every 3 songs. Most 70's does NOT mix with "girls just wanna have fun" you can get the same 70's disco garbage and 80's crap on any self professed "Classic hits" FM or online station now. I think there is a good market for the pre Beatles era oldies. not necessarily chubby checker and big bopper 50's music. but the singers and songwriters of the era. I lived through disco. it's overhyped today as if it's all anyone wanted to listen to in the 1970's. Hardly true. most people thought disco sucked. most stations didn't play any of it. you're not getting a true representation of the 1970's with any of these farcical classic stations.

Well if you don't extend the trial it will obviously stop but if you take out a paid plan then it won't stop.

Totally depends on how you want to run your station. The one thing this is necessary BEFORE streaming is correct licensing.
i want to simulcast quadraphonic. - can i sync up two radio stations easily - I see you can schedule so presumably I could schedule two stations to start at the same time, thereby broadcasting both stereo streams of a quadraphonic file
Simulcasting quadraphonic audio can be a bit complex but it's achievable. You'll need to carefully synchronize the broadcast of your audio across both radio stations to maintain the spatial effect. It may be beyond the scope of the software I mention here.
my quad is fairly discrete, so two stereo systems should work if the sequencing is right@@MikeRussell
