Strikingly, there was never any debate in the ancient world about whether Jesus of Nazareth was a historical figure. In the earliest literature of the Jewish Rabbis, Jesus was denounced as the illegitimate child of Mary and a sorcerer. Among pagans, the satirist Lucian and philosopher Celsus dismissed Jesus as a scoundrel, but we know of no one in the ancient world who questioned whether Jesus lived.

There was no need to consider the question of Jesus's existence because what was claimed by the Christians was obviously fraudulent. As Hierocles later said, the Christians were subject to an easy and wreckless credulity.

We do not have all the material that criticised Christians. Perhaps two thirds of Celsus and less of Porphyry. The Church made sure that all hard criticism was suppressed or destroyed.

Lucian was not born until 125 years after Jesus . Celsus was not born until 175 years after. it is like you being born now and with no internet ,no library no video recordings, no written recorded accounts and nothing but word of mouth writing about what happened to a person born 125 years agoin 1897. It took over 379 after the birth of Jesus ( and that birth is not correct either) before Christianity thrived.
In 379 Emperor Theodosius became Roman Emperor. On 27 February 380, together with Gratian and Valentinian II, Theodosius issued the decree "Cunctos populos", the so-called Edict of Thessalonica, recorded in the Codex Theodosianus xvi.1.2. This declared the Nicene Trinitarian Christianity to be the only legitimate imperial religion and the only one entitled to call itself Catholic. He also ended official state support for the traditional polytheist religions and customs. Catholicism was now the official religion. In 393, he banned the pagan rituals of the Olympics in Ancient Greece. Christianity was now state sponsored and promoted throughout the vastness of the Roman empire.
That is NO WHERE NEAR what you stated "never any debate"

Coffee Lover "Try learning Hebrew and actually reading."
Why? Do claims of miracles require no evidence if they are written in Hebrew?
      "Abundance of proof."
This is claimed very often... but for some reason the people making the claim ( such as you) never present any of the "abundance of evidence".
"Also plenty of English texts to choose from."
Again, it makes no difference what language a claim for a miracle is written in if the claim cannot be proven or supported by evidence.
      "You are very uneducated."
You forgot to present evidence for any of the miracles the Bible says happened, including the resurrection.

@Terncote the people ignoring the laws of nature aren't the Christians. Makes no difference how much he gets paid, making yourself your own God will ruin you in this life before you ever get to the next. This is the proclamation of the Hebrews who realized a God outside themself meant submission was the only rational and reasonable, humane method to perpetuate any possible culture without mass casualties and mass moral evil. We can experientially look at cultures who ignore these truths and see the evident and obvious logical conclusion they come to. To ignore this lesson and the truth the "myth" of Jesus came to address is abhorrently dangerous on an incredibly broad human scale.
The human error of arrogance is thankfully conquered finally without emotional anger toward another human but with rejoicing and with communion. A Christian who balks to see others fall to the mistake of pride do not recognize their own previous stumbling and would likely appear to be a Christian newly walking toward the hope of glory in Christ Jesus, by faith justified through grace, not a perfected humanity like unto Christ who told his followers to turn the other cheek, go two miles with the man who orders you to go with him one and ultimately forgave even those who staked him to a cross and rose him up on calvary, giving his life for his brothers and sisters of his Kingdom. I'm not entirely believing the incentive is always fear but possible the polar opposite. Sometimes I believe it is compassion for the well being and for the spiritual regeneration of others

Terncote Christianity isn’t poisoning the world, intolerant people like you who make dishonest claims because you can’t fathom people that have a different viewpoint as you, that’s who is poisoning the world. There remains a gargantuan amount of history and validity that supports God as the one true God, with far more reason to believe than any other god that’s ever been worshipped or mentioned, and the Bible with its great validity that proves as such to be nothing less than a history book far more so than the Quran, the Torah and any other religious text that’s ever been written or read. Because we have 5000+ ancient manuscripts of the Bible, we have a great deal of evidence that the contents of each book of the Bible have been preserved and that the Bible has not been changed to make up for prophecy. The ancient manuscripts date all the way back to 250 BC and verify with the modern Christian Bible. The oldest of these manuscripts are the Dead Sea Scrolls. Muslims and some skeptics claim that the Bible has been changed or corrupted but secular historians have verified that the contents of each specific book have been preserved. Since the Christian Bible has not been changed and it has also told the future time and time again, we have evidence that the Bible is inspired by God. We find testimonies of atheists, Buddhists, Muslims, etc. claiming they died, went to hell and came back because Jesus saved them. There are countless testimonies just on UA-cam alone and the people that ventured into the afterlife describe the Christian concept of life after death. If NDE’s were open to interpretation, we would find testimonies of people saying that when they died, they met Allah or Muhammad or Buddha. But since we only find testimonies of people saying they were saved from hell by Jesus, we have additional evidence that Christianity is the truth. When Muslims die, they don’t hallucinate about Allah and when Hindus die, they don’t hallucinate about reincarnation. What we see is the truth of Christianity being preached by those that died and came back. Besides the countless testimonies we have of near death experiences, we also have scientific research and evidence that verifies the existence of the afterlife. It is a historical fact that Jesus did exist, with 99-100% of scholars and historians relevant to the field acknowledging it. We have greater evidence for Jesus for Jesus' existence than we have for Alexander the Great, Tiberius Caesar and many other ancient historical figures. Altogether we have at least 42 authors that concern Jesus within the first 150 years of His life - which is absolutely incredible for ancient historical standards. We also have no early texts whatsoever that claim He didn't exist (If memory serves, such claims only surfaced in the 17th century...). Furthermore, I could run through the ontological, teleological arguments or the arguments from morality, history, the life death Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the eyewitness testimony to that, the myriads of intellectual genius's from Galileo, Copernicus, Kepler, Newton, Faraday, Pascal, Dostoevsky, Kierkegaard , Aquinas, Augustine etc. etc, who all believed in God and took the question to places the average man will never get to much less even understand in this life and still found it better to believe than not. But I would only mention those to show an intellectual defense of the Christian faith that I find satisfies the questions, but I don't think I or anyone else in this life will ever have perfect concrete knowing in this life, that's why the concept of faith rings true to me. God is a properly basic belief like the belief in the external world around us. God is self evident, like all men created equal is self evident. And at the end of the day the Christian story is the greatest story ever told. There is no better explanation for the big questions in life. There is great reason to believe in God, the father of Christ, and the word of the Bible as it has continuously proven through history to be an historical, nonfictional text, and yes there is also a great deal of evidence. For example, the bit that's discussed in these videos:

The problem that you and many other atheists have is the strong and stubborn refusal and opposition to believe in something greater than yourselves, and that great desire not to believe very often overpowers the atheist’s openness and willingness to take in, acknowledge with an open mind and heart, the very existent evidence and validity that is very much stacked against them and their often arrogant position and condescension towards Christians and religion as a whole.

I like how people say 20-40 years references to him existing aren't reliable because they were too far after his death. Especially when alexander the great's earliest reference we base our knowledge on was 300 years after his death. Oh and the actual Cesar that was in charge during jesus's death, yeah earliest reference on him was 80 years after his death, and that is considered unreliable by scholars. We only have i believe 5 references on Cesar, the greatest Cesar of rome, that we base our knowledge on, pretty incredible that a carpenter whos been said by scholars to no doubt have a 1st rate philosophical and ethical mind who's entire career lasted a grand total of 3 years has basically the same amount of books written about him in less than century of his life, and that they would go on to be the most widely studied and scrutinized texts in history. In history, 2 sources mean it is considered to have undoubtably happened. There are 11 different sources that historians (secular and non secular) have deemed reliable. I find it hard to believe people don't want to believe in him so bad. The whole "he never existed" argument is dead. Doesn't matter if you believe he's the messiah or not, pointless to argue

There really is evidence for Jesus outside the Bible.
    I've noted some evidence:
Tacitus - or more formally, Caius/Gaius (or Publius) Cornelius Tacitus (55/56-c 118 A.D.) - was a Roman senator, orator and ethnographer, and perhaps the best of Roman historians. His name is based on the Latin word tacitus, "silent".
An argument for the authenticity of the following quote is that it is written in Latin by his hand.
Tacitus' last major work, titled "Annals", written c. 116-117 A.D.., contains a biography of Nero.
In 64 AC., during a fire in Rome, Nero was suspected of being the mastermind behind the big fire in the part of the city where he wanted to carry out a building project. So he tried to shift the blame on the Christians. This was the reason for Tacitus to name the Christians, which he despised. This is what he wrote - the following excerpt has been translated from Latin by Robert Van Voorst:
"Neither human effort, nor the generosity of the emperor, nor the appeasement of the gods, ended the scandalous belief that the fire was ordered [by Nero]. Therefore, to quell the commotion, he identified as perpetrators those who were hated for their shameful practices ... whom the crowd called 'Christians', and punished them in the most unusual way. The founder of this name, Christ, was executed during the reign of Tiberius by the procurator Pontius Pilate ... Oppressed for a time, the deadly superstition once again erupted, not only in Judea, the origin of evil, but also in the city [Rome], where all the terrible and shameful things from everywhere come together and become popular."
Tacitus' concise statement about "Christ" clearly confirms the New Testament about certain historical details of Jesus' death. Tacitus presents us with 3 facts about Jesus:
    (1) Christ, used by Tacitus to refer to Jesus, was a distinctive way some people referred to him. However, Tacitus wrongly used Christ as the personal name of Jesus rather than as a title or epithet.
    (2) Jesus was executed by the Roman governor of Judea.
    (3) The moment of Jesus' death was during the governorship of Pontius Pilate, during the reign of Tiberius.
Tacitus was certainly one of the best historians, perhaps the best of all. As a historian he never gave in to careless writing.
Earlier in his career, when he was proconsul of Asia, he probably overlooked trials, interrogated people accused of being Christians, and judged and punished those found guilty. We can assume that Tacitus will always have checked his information before accepting it as the truth.
Another strong indication that speaks directly of Jesus as a real person comes from Josephus, a Jewish priest who grew up as an aristocrat in first-century Palestine and eventually ended up in Rome, supported by the patronage of three successive emperors. In the early days of the first Jewish revolt against Rome ( 66-70 A.D. ), Josephus was a commander in Galilee. But soon he became a prisoner of war.
He predicted that his victor, the Roman commander Vespasianus, would become emperor, and when this really happened, Vespasianus liberated him. He even adopted the name Flavius, after the surname of his patron, the emperor Vespasianus, and put it before his birth name, as in true Roman style, Flavius Josephus. Most Jews saw him as a despicable traitor. It was on the orders of Vespasian's son Titus that the Roman army destroyed Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and set fire to the Temple. The image of the spoils of war they took is still depicted today on the triumphal arch of Titus in Rome.
In his two great works, The Jewish War and Jewish Antiquities, both written in Greek for educated people, Josephus tried to appeal to aristocrats in the Roman world. He tried to apply Judaism to them as a religion to be admired for its moral and philosophical depth.
In his book, Jewish Antiquities, he mentions Jesus twice.
    A fragment of this:
"Being therefore this kind of person [i.e. a heartless Sadducee], Ananus, thinking that he had a favorable opportunity because Festus died and Albinus was still on his way, convened a meeting [literally "sanhedrin"] of judges and brought forward the brother of Jesus-the-one-who-is-called-Messiah, James by his name, and some others. He made the accusation that they had broken the law and handed them over to be stoned to death".
James is mentioned only briefly in Josephus' long account. The only reason for the reference to James was because his death led to the loss of Ananus' position as high priest. James was a common name at the time. Many men called James are mentioned in Josephus' works, so Josephus had to specify which James he was talking about. The general practice of simply naming the father's name ( James, son of Joseph ), would not suffice here because Joseph was also a common name at the time. That is why Joseph identified James as the brother of the well-known Jesus ( Yehoshua ). Because Yehoshua was also a common name at the time ( Josephus names 12 other men in his works who are also called Yehoshua ), Josephus also had to specify which Jesus he spoke about. Therefore he added the sentence "the one called Messiah".
This brief identification of Jesus, merely to show which James Josephus spoke about, gains credibility with regard to the existence of Jesus because the passage itself is not about Jesus. This name appears only in a functional sense and can only be useful to identify James if the name refers to a real person, namely, "Jesus who is called Messiah".
To end we also have Suetionius.
Suetonius was born around 70 A.D. as the son of Laetus in the equites, a social class, directly under the senators, comparable to medieval knights.
The young Suetonius was educated in law and served under Pliny the Younger when he was governor of Bithynia. A number of letters from Pliny show that he was highly esteemed by Pliny as a scholar (scholastic) and friend. Pliny and Septicius Clarus, prefect of the Praetorian Guard, recommended him to Emperor Trajan who appointed him librarian/archivist. Under Emperor Hadrian he was head of the Imperial Secretariat for several years.
Suetonius speaks in his work "The lives of twelve emperors" (The divine Claudius, H.25, § 4) about the decree of expulsion by the emperor in the year 49 against the Jews of Rome:
"Claudius expelled from Rome the Jews who, uprooted by a certain Chrestus, rebelled constantly." (XXV,4).
This text confirms what the Acts of the Apostles say (Acts 18:2):
"When he arrived at Corinth in 50, Paul found there a Jew named Aquila, who arrived from Italy with his wife Priscilla, as a result of an edict of Claudius ordering all Jews to leave Rome.
    "
As far as we know, no ancient person has questioned the existence of Jesus. Even pagans, the Jews, the Rabbis who had turned against Jesus, did not deny the existence of Jesus. The Rabbi's claimed that Jesus' birth was illegal, that he performed miracles through black magic, and that he provoked apostasy.
So I think it is safe to conclude that Jesus really existed 😊

@Mr Scratch Psalms 14:1, "Only a fool says in their heart there is no God". Be careful who you point fingers to, the rest are pointing right back at yourself. The historian Flavius Josephus did. St. Paul , Pliny and Tacitus, among many others.
      Taken from Amazing facts website,
The Bible says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God” (2 Timothy 3:16).
Answer: One of the greatest miracles of the Bible is its unity. Just ponder these amazing facts:
The 66 books of the Bible were written:
      On three continents.
      In three languages.
By about 40 different people (such as kings, shepherds, scientists, attorneys, an army general, fishermen, priests, and a physician)
Over a period of about 1,500 years
      On the most controversial subjects
By people who, in most cases, had never met
By authors whose education and background varied greatly
Yet, though it seems totally inconceivable, the 66 books maintain harmony with one another. And even when new concepts on a certain subject are expressed, they do not undermine what other Bible writers say on the same subject.
This is almost too amazing to believe! Ask people who have viewed the same event to give a report of what happened and you’ll discover that their stories will often differ widely and will contradict each other in some way. Yet the Bible, penned by 40 writers over a 1,500-year period, reads as if it was written by one mind. And indeed it was: “Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit “moved” them all; He is the real Bible author.

@Mr Scratch Jesus is the only truth. Paul was alive during the time of Jesus though he was Saul at the time and was involved in persecuting Christians until He came to know Jesus. When someone comes to Christ, they are transformed into a new creature. The former ways are gone. They become sane, whole, more loving, kind, joyous, peaceful, patient, good, faithful and have self control.
All the other religions are the works of your father the devil/👿 😂😂😂😂 Satan and his brigade of fallen angels/demons posed as gods to all ancient civilizations all over the world from the time of Babylon, Egypt, Greek, Norse, Gaelic, Aztec, Mayan, Hindi, Buddhist, Native American, Alaskan, Native Hawaiian, etc...and sadly many took the bait. Those who do NOT know how to differentiate between God's truth and the devils lies will fall for anything. You quoting from Hollywood proves my point.😂😂😂😂 Sadly many like yourself will be lost forever if you stay in your ways.
God is so amazing He gives everyone the freedom of choice to choose Him or another/the devil. Those are the only options humanity has. Those who don't want to be with God, He will lovingly let go. Heaven would probably be very torturous for those souls anyway. That is how much God loves us. That is how much God loves you despite your arrogance. He has given everyone free will to choose this day who you will serve. You can see what is happening in our world. Life is NOT guaranteed to anyone. You are here one day and gone the next. Your memory won't even exist after you're gone. While you still have breath in your lungs, humble yourself before Jesus and seek Him. It is NOT enough to just know about Him. One day very soon every knee will bow down to Jesus Christ and proclaim Him as Lord. He is the name above all names, prince of peace, mighty God, the King of all Kings, Lord of All Lords, righteous, rightful, Just God, and savior of the world. 👑❤
      Good day

@Mr Scratch God does NOT murder. God's love is pure and unconditional. He is the author of all life. He is sovereign. He has the right to take away life or create life because He is the life giver. He is a JUST God. He is the creator God. God decides when your last heartbeat will be.
Everything belongs to God, so when he takes from us it is not stealing, but doing what he likes with his own property. Similarly, if God kills people it is not murder, because our lives belong to him (Deut. 32:39).
God's motivations for dealing with people are not the same as that of human murderers. Most of the time, people kill other people out of hatred, because they want something bad to happen to them, or because they don't care about them or don't want to follow God's just laws. But God says, "As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live" (Ezekiel 33:11)
And God is omniscient, so he knows when a group of people have become so wicked that it would be bad for them, and for their children, and for the rest of the world, if they remain alive to keep sinning. For example, the Canaanites sacrificed their innocent children to a devil god they worshipped as part of their religion(See Deuteronomy 12:31.), and if God hadn't put an end to them, we might still see people doing that today. This also happened in ancient Mayan, Incan and Aztec cultures. You can see how the devil works. He does everything contrary to God. God had to get rid of them because the influence of these nations left unchecked would ultimately lead to the death of many more innocent people. Additionally, not only did God use Israel’s might to punish evil nations like these, He used the Babylonian, Assyrian, and Egyptian kings to punish Israel. God will often use human forces to mete out His discipline.
How many times do you expect God to warn people about the judgement that is to come? The blood of the innocent babies also cry out to God. This Earth is more alive than you think. Will God NOT avenge the innocent? God gives people many chances to give up their wicked ways and stand in the light. It is people who choose NOT to listen. Don't blame God for the sins of humans. Each and everyone has free will to choose their own fates. God does NOT owe us anything yet He has offered the gift of eternal life to each and every soul who turns from their wicked ways and follow Him fully in Spirit and in truth. The precious gift of eternal life is only because of God's son, Jesus Christ. Jesus took what was supposed to be our place on the cross. So only He is worthy to forgive the sins of humanity if we turn from the wicked ways and follow Him.
Now add to that the fact we're all sinners and deserve to die and go to hell yesterday, and the reality that we're even breathing today is sheer common grace from God. Read for more clarity: www.amazingfacts.org/media-library/book/e/15/t/baptized-paganism

Pool 8 Consider what those historians themselves are experts in. Most studied Christianity as a major, and are Christians themselves. They study the Bible for a living. I’m sure those same researchers claiming confirmed historicity of Christ would find no historical evidence that the events of the Book of Mormon or the Koran were indeed historically accurate. At the end of the day, everyone is going to believe whatever they want to believe and they’ll find the evidence for the side of the argument they happen to fall on. Those who study this topic and find insufficient evidence to say Jesus was part of our history shouldn’t be called “edgelord atheists who read UA-cam comments.”
At the end of the day, who cares. There’s no evidence for any of the magical shit Jesus supposedly did, like his Resurrection, but billions still believe it really happened. It’s a matter of beliefs, not a matter of historical research.

For more input on this topic, just check out one of the numerous "young earth debunked" videos here on youtube :D

You should consider that before Paul became one of the forefront, he was alright living his life well while denying Christ. He lived to chastise early Christians to the point where he decided to give up his life of luxury and pristine to honor Christ. It should be apparent that people are not willing to leave their life full of opulence and riches without a true justification. Therefore, Paul's true justification for leaving his position was to honor Christ as Truth.

People who believe there is no God must have all knowledge and conclude this to be 100% true through science. This is of course impossible to have all knowledge. The most you can possibly know is less than 1% of all full knowledge. This still leaves at least 99% of knowledge of which you have not touched. To make that much of a claim without nearly enough knowledge and understanding on the topic is foolish.
People who believe there is a God do not have to have all knowledge because they already know it to be true because they have met God. They know God. They feel God. They have far more evidence than non believers.
    Example:
Bob says there is nobody named Michael Smith on this earth. I would say go around the world and ask names of everyone to prove it. Bob is making a huge claim based on very weak knowledge. It would be an equally weak claim to say that there IS a Michael Smith on this earth, so I would have to check around to world to prove it. But if I say this claim and I know a man named Michael Smith, and I have a relationship and talk to him, it would be proof that in fact there is one on this earth, and Bob was proven wrong.
Same goes with God. Atheists say there is no God based on no scientific evidence whatsoever. But if Christians say there is a God, it is not as outrageous because Christians know God. They have a relationship with God. They talk to God. They know there is a God. That is the evidence.
There is a God because people have met him in their heart.

    • @matiaspereyra9375
      @matiaspereyra9375 4 роки тому +9

Wow. Everything you just said is wrong. Wouldn't expect much else.I was a christian too, and I too would ignorantly spout at atheists in self righteous fervor.
First of all, how do you know we have 1 percent of knowledge? Besides the fact that I wouldnt even know what you mean exactly by that Have you calculated the total amount of knowledge in the universe? That is just as bad as saying that we claim to have all the knowledge. You ironically are taking the very position youre accusing us of. You have an equally valid 1 percent of information as much as we do and yet you are arrogant enough to claim that you are right and were wrong for thinking differently which is exactly what youre accusing us of.
Second of all the assertion that atheists secretly know God and are simply surpressing the truth is simply not true, and is a by product of the bible discouraging you to question it. Every follower of every religion in the planet genuinley believes as much as you do that their religoin is true and that their experiences with whatever religion are conclusion enough that such is true, Each one of these religions opposing to yours have their effective ways of living, their dense mythology, Miracles, supernatural occurences, explanations to things we have otherwise found the right answer of, and some form of relationship to the deity they serve with love and fervor. Belive it or not people have met DIFFERENT gods in their hearts and they talk to them. So if they all have the evidence that is require then which one is right? WE NEED MORE THAN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE because lies can come from personal experience..An experiment was made not so long ago where children were asked what they thought was the origin of the universe. None of them asserted to any deity, proving to you that people arent born "believiing and knowing" God. They are indoctrinated and taught to do so.People genuinley don't know the God youre talking about, and even the bible defends the notion. Read Romans 10:14-15 which says " But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? " If people already knew God then it would be such a common knowledge that would be undeniable, and thus you wouldnt even have to preach, yet you do. And if you think this is because there is some sort of conspiracy around the world so that we dont admit God exists. Youd also be wrong, but hopefully youre smart enough to know that many atheists and non-christians are seekers of truth and if any real evidence to show he positivley exists came up, they would gladly believe in it. People that are intellectually honest and have no intention of surpressing the truth actually look and research these things and come to the conclusion that God isnt real. God should be real enough to convince them, yet here we are.
Third, So how do you know the Judeo Christian God specificially is the true God? Maybe its the zorastrian God or some other shit. Point is that every religion claims to have met the real deal and they are all convinced 100 percent that theyre right and therefore everyone else is wrong. People havent ever seen such a thing as God, much less have proof beyond here-say and personal perception and experience. So because youre on the side of unprovable pseudoscientific matterless spaceless benevolent creators we havent yet proved, IT IS YOUR resposinbility to prove that such a thing even could exist. Not for us that dont believe to prove that God doesnt exist. Youre the one that needs to have a burden of proof for his existence, not us for his non-existence.
For example I could also tell you "Hey man fairies exist, I mean plenty of books have been written around them and evidence of their existence is all around us and ive personally seen one up close." And then yo'd say "Bro, fairies don' exist" to which I would respond "Welll.....Can you prove they don't exist?" You know how retarded and useless a conversation like that would be? Therefore if I have seen fairies which humanity has never in their existence, and i want people to believe, its not yours or anybodys responsibility to disprove it, its my responsibility to prove it.Which means that even if we all have that 1 percent sliver of knowledge, my 1 percent has much more going for it than yours until you can prove it. In the same way any other religion ahs that same status. Whats differenet about atheists is that we only filter out what isnt true. If tommorow we find out everything stephen hawkings said was a lie, we wont fucking defend it, and bitch and worship at his altar. We will destroy his teachings and replace them with truth. If were gonna live our lives in the dirrection of such outlandish shit, were gonna get our moneys worth, were not gonna do so even one second before , it has been proven. Faith is an unreliable way to get answers about reality.

The reason for the animal being sacrificed in the Old Testament is for the same reason that Jesus was sacrificed, a blameless entity that was given up in place of our sins because God loves us and otherwise the weight of sin would be death. Also, if the primary purpose of religion is to feed priests, then why do we even have priests? Surely the food would be better spent elsewhere, instead of going towards people whose entire lives revolve around “mumbo-jumbo”... while we’re asking questions, why don’t we ask the reason why we have priests? Or what they preach? Making anecdotal assumptions to disprove religion is a dangerous area. "inside/outside the bible" is a false categorical problem in the first place. "the bible" simply describes the collection of documents that took centuries, of writings that were actually penned centuries before those who collected the works together were even born. that is, they started out as independent, and each writer didn't know that his writing was going to be included next to the others as some definitive canon. fundy atheists act like the bible was put together all at once, perhaps by some committee, or written by some kind of executive fiat by the church. thus the "evidence has to be inside/outside" falls flat. it would be much better to pose the question of "what non-Christian evidence is there for a historical Jesus"? that means you're refuting the notion that Jesus was only written about by supporters, friendly sources who viewed him in an orthodox manner. the answer is, you have some unfriendly accounts, and some friendly ones, leading to the conclusion its much more likely he existed than that he didn't (and the goofy myther alternative theories aren't even worthy of response here).

@@lisalisa3635 That's not true at all Michel. There is great reason to believe in God, the father of Christ, and the word of the Bible as it has continuously proven through history to be an historical, nonfictional text. The problem that atheists are faced with isn’t even close to a lack of evidence or history when acknowledging or researching Christianity.

Secondly, all the letter demonstrates is that Pliny had observed some Christians and their beliefs in the early 2nd century in Bithynia-Pontus; which is absolutely irrelevant to the existence of a historical person who was a non-contemporary, in a different country nearly a century earlier.
Ironically, this letter is probably the most important evidence against the specious claims of the persecution of Christians under Domitian in the 90s AD. In this letter, Pliny is asking the current emperor Trajan on how to deal with Christians, as he'd never had to legal prosecute them prior to this - under Domitian, Pliny was in several positions of high office in Rome, and served in judicial affairs during his 'purge' of the senate. If Pliny had never prosecuted Christians by the time this letter was written, then the (much, much later) Christian claims of persecution under Domitian are extremely unlikely.

No one denies that Christians existed but that is NOT the same as showing that Jesus was real. P.S. If it's called mathematics (plural with an S) if you shorten it, it remains plural and still needs an S. So Maths is correct but Math is not.

We have comparably excellent sources from Paul - someone I would argue was a greater impact on early Christianity than even Jesus himself - since we have his letters and thus his actual accounts and thoughts about how the church should be run. We know Paul existed and know what he said and all sorts of things about him; but for Jesus we have vague allusions and must take on "faith" for some reason.

Jesus exists, He is the beginning of the end. So the end of days (The Last Days) started when Christ became flesh.
    Please promise to read all.
Jesus is our Living Passover, so let us thank Him for His sacrifice.
    Yeshua Ha Massiach
Acts Chapter 4 verse 12: " There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved."
Who is Christ? Who is Jesus?
    Born of a virgin, Mary.
Mathew Chapter 1 verse 20: " behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him (Joseph), in a dream and said, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for that (Christ)which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus, the Christ, is God's word made flesh. Jesus is Jehovah God's (The Creator's) Word made into flesh.
1 John chapter 5 verse 7: " For there are three that bear a record in heaven, The Father, The Word, and the Holy Spirit: and these three are one."
John chapter 1 verse 1: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John chapter 1 verse 14: " And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
John chapter 1 verse 10: " He was in the world, and the world knew Him not."
Hebrews chapter 4 verse 12: " For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
How beautiful and awesome is God's Word, who is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, magnificent in all His glory, is He.Amen!
John's Vision Of Christ Seated On His Throne In Heaven:
Revelation chapter 4 verse 2 to 3: " Immediately, I (John), was in the Spirit, and behold a throne sat in Heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance, and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald."
Why did Christ Jesus came and sacrificed His precious life for sinners like us?
Christ (God's Word made into flesh), came because through flesh (Adam's flesh) sin entered the world, and then because of sin death entered the whole earth. Through flesh(Jesus Christ's flesh), the earth will be saved, sin is destroyed, and the curse of death shall be broken, death and the grave shall be cast into hell.
Christ, who is God's Word made into flesh, sacrificed His life for us. He was crucified for our sins and transgressions.
Christ died, and on the third day He resurrected in the flesh, conquering death and the grave. Now, Christ is seated in Heaven, at the right hand of Power(God). Through Christ's sacrifice we gain Salvation through God's abundant mercy and grace. We are reconciled and recompensed back to God, through the shed blood of His beloved Son Christ Jesus.
John chapter 3 verse 16: " For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that who ever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life."
Romans chapter 5 verse 8: " But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Christ came to undo the sin and eternal death brought upon the world through the sin of Adam.
Death in Adam, Life In Christ:
Romans chapter 5 verse 19: " For as by one man's disobedience, many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience, many will be made righteous."
Romans chapter 5 verse 18: " Therefore, as through one man's (Adam's) offense judgement came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even through one Man's (Christ's) righteous act, the free gift came to all men, resulting in the justification of life."
Romans chapter 5 verse 17: " For if by the one man's offense(Adam's offense), death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in the life through the One(Jesus Christ).
Romans chapter 5 verse 12: " Therefore, just as through one man (Adam)sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned."
Romans chapter 5 verse 21: " "So that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Do you now see that through Adam, sin and death entered the world, so that is why Christ Jesus came to give life, and give it abundantly? Yes Christ came to give eternal life through Salvation.
Adam's flesh brought sin, death, destruction, and condemnation.
Christ's sacrifice, the crucifixtion of His flesh, brings reconciliation of sins, life, resurrection, eternal life, salvation
Christ is coming back again, not as a sacrificial lamb. He is coming back as a roaring, waring lion, to destroy sin, death, and the grave once and for all. Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! Amen! Hallelujah!
Revelation chapter 22 verse 12 to 13: " And behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. "
Now do you see friends, Why Christ Jesus is so so Important for our Salvation? Yes.
Now, do you understand why there is only one way to God, and that is only through Christ Jesus, only? Yes.
Christ is Salvation. Christ is our Lord and Saviour. Christ is the only way to God. Christ is the only Mediator between God and men(us humans).
God loves us so much, He does not want anyone to perish in hell. God wants all sinners to be saved. That is why He sent His Word to save the world. God's Word became flesh, and dwelt among us to save us.
Will you accept Christ and be saved?
Romans chapter 6 verse 23: " For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
John Chapter 3 verse 16: " For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that who ever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."
    Salvation is free!
    Salvation is free!
Christ already paid the price, all you have to do is recieve salvation through acceptance of Jesus Christ, Yeshua Ha Massiach.
    So who is Christ?
He is The Word Of God. He is the Son of God. He is God. He is the image of the unseen God. He is the Alpha and Omega. He is the beginning and the end. He is the Great I Am. He is Emmanuel. He is The Christ. He is The Messiah. He is The Creator. He is our Lord and Saviour. He is our Mediator. He is the Lion and the Lamb. He is Salvation. He is the way, the truth, and life.
    Amen!
    I love you Lord!
John chapter 14 verse 6: " Jesus said to him," I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
    Colassians chapter 1 verse 15 to 16:
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him."
    John chapter 1 verse 1 to 4:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."
I hope that you know Christ, and understand Christ better now,to the glory of God.
    Amen!
Christ is for all who will receive Him.
Please pray this prayer with me. ***Lord Jesus, please come in to my heart. I accept You as my Lord and Savior, You are the Son Of God, You are the Word Of God, You are God. You are the Great I Am, the One Who Was, Who Is and Who Is To Come. I believe that You sacrificed your life for me and died, and on the third day You awoke and raised up your body in the flesh. I believe You are coming back again in the flesh (In your resurrected body). I believe Salvation is only through You. No one comes to God (Jehovah) The Father, but through You. Forgive me Lord of my sins. I renounce all of my sins past and present this day. I will sin no more with your help dear Lord. I want to be close to you Lord, now and forevermore. Keep me in Your bosom. Heal me oh Lord, and please help me, be near me and never let me go. Write my name in Your Book of Life. Please prepare a place for me, in Your Father's House. Hear my prayer dear Lord. In Jesus mighty name, I pray. Amen ****
May the Lord continue to be with you and strengthen you through any difficult journeys ahead.
This is how our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ said we should pray.Matthew chapter 6 verse 9 to 13:
"Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."
Now that you understand who Christ is, share Christ with others.
    Amen!
"God's kingdom will come on earth, as it is in heaven," but after the coming antichrist's kingdom. Christ is the end of the antichrist/antichrist's kingdom.
1 Corinthians 15: 51, "Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed."
Seek Christ now, while He still can be found.

The most prominent of these is Josephus whose lack of a mention of Jesus was commented on as a problem by Christians writers in the 2nd and 3rd centuries until the problem was solved in the 4th century by Eusebius who inserted the Testimonium Flavianum into the text. • @HeroQuestFans

@Arcexey. the "if Jesus didn't have divine powers it's useless to question whether he existed" thing is missing the point. the fundy atheist is arguing Jesus didn't exist PRECISELY because he is offended by the claim that Christians say Jesus was divine, and wants to undermine that, thinking this is the way to do it. the trouble is that the evidence and the experts are not on his side, even the ones who share his atheistic worldview. only a couple of fringe scholars agree (you can find fringe theorists in any field). so he must explain then why we should listen to his viewpoint rather than what the evidence points to and what the experts say about it. whether Jesus was divine or not, according to history, it matters whether we are correct in saying Jesus existed or not, just as it would with any other figure. the point is to follow the evidence to the most probable conclusion. history is for the sake of knowledge. of course the Christian believer would "want" Jesus to exist. if Jesus did not exist, then Christianity, at its core, would be disproven (there are other religions out there one could choose from if this happened). but if the Christian somehow "knew" Jesus didn't exist, then why would they want to persist "believing" in something they "knew" had been disproven? so the Christian would be being accused of being a madman, who believes something he knows is untrue, for illogical reasons (you can't make something true simply by wishing it to be so). In actual fact, if the question has been posed to a Christian in the first place, they can quickly discover that in fact the evidence DOES point to Jesus existing and the experts are overwhelmingly in favor of that conclusion. so he is not "believing against reason" in this case. the fundy atheist who embraces Mythicism, however, IS believing something against the expert consensus, against the evidence. they may sincerely believe there is a conspiracy within the historical profession to hide "the truth" just as a young earth creationist may believe there is a sinister conspiracy within the scientific community to cover up the "falsehood" of evolution, the big bang, etc. indicating an old earth. so they bear the burden of proof to show why we should accept the existence of this conspiracy. see the issue here? most of us are not fundamentalists of one stripe or another. we tend to go with what the evidence points to and what the experts agree on, if we consider these issues at all. once educated on an issue, it's pretty easy to go along with it if you're a normal person. most of us recognize we don't have perfect knowledge, and we can learn things and change our minds in light of new evidence. historyforatheists.com

    • @MayberryDaze64
      @MayberryDaze64 5 років тому

      Brad.
Archaeological Evidence proving the Bible true

How we know Jesus and the Early Church Existed

Historical evidence for resurrection of Christ
      ua-cam.com/video/A0iDNLxmWVM/v-deo.html
To add to those informative videos, I have a document with various sources, documents, and articles that take care of many of the claims and concerns from skeptics, and prove even further validity and evidence.
Resources for the skeptic : docs.google.com/document/d/1ZdtCKC2mUaKxL0_1Zf5BMO-un5ccKnad_JeLxXE3mIw/edit
As I’ve given just a taste of, the problem that atheists are faced with isn’t even close to a lack of evidence or history when acknowledging or researching Christianity.

It is not a step in that direction because until you break the supernatural barrier, there is nothing special about him existing. My point was that some characters in some religions all really existed, and since there's no way we could prove anything supernatural (assuming you agree), it's just all totally trivial. I can accept every single non supernatural event and it will still give 0 credit to a supernatural cause.A new religion could potentially be more 'entrenched' than Christianity.

@Arexey, the only thing "special" about Jesus, in the viewpoint of the secular historian, would be that his life was responsible for creating one of the most influential and enduring religions on the planet today. so that in itself makes it important to establish as best we can, what we can know about his existence and life. but whether or not he existed, the fact remains of the influence of him. Still, even if he had not been influential at all, and his movement had died with him 2000 years ago he would still be "worth" studying as any figure of the past, since history is not merely concerned with studying "great men" who are "relevant to today's society." History can be used in a purely utilitarian manner, but it is not required that we do so. knowing whether Jesus or Gamiliel or Honi actually existed won't get us to Mars or isolate a medical cure for cancer, but it is still worth pursuing. and so far the evidence for historicity is far superior to the evidence for any of the proposed alternative "Myther" positions (such as that Jesus was invented by some Roman conspiracy, or that he was a magic mushroom, or a "judaized" version of dying and rising mystery cult savior gods, or a metaphor for the Sun, or an amalgam of various different historical figures, a visiting space alien, or some other kind of hoax, etc). the "silence" thesis, that we "just don't have enough evidence to say one way or the other" is probably the strongest "Myther" argument, but its insufficient in that if it were applied universally, it would erase pretty much every figure of antiquity since it raises the bar of evidence significantly (just to get rid of Jesus, so a fundy atheist can score points against modern Christianity they disagree with).

    @SGonUTube 9 років тому +20

There are the eyewitness accounts and the Creed as iterated by the Apostle Paul in I Cor. 15, Pliny, Josephus, others as follows:
The first is from Tacitus (55-120). He was a Roman Senator and historian who wrote several important works, among them one known as the Annals. In that work he tells about Christians in Rome and states "Christus, the founder of the name [Christian], was put to death by Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea in the reign of Tiberius."(15.44) (The numbers at the end of each quote indicate where it may be found in that work.)
The second is from Suetonius (69 - died some time after 122), a Roman historian and secretary to the emperor Hadrian (ruled from 117-138). In his book, The Lives of the Twelve Caesars, he wrote concerning the emperor Claudius, "As the Jews were making constant disturbances at the instigation of Chrestus, he expelled them from Rome."(25.4) This reference from Suetonius may match with an incident in which the emperor expelled Jews and that is found in Acts 18:2: "There [Paul] met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome." It must be noted that some believe Chrestus does not refer to Jesus Christ but to an individual named "Chrestus." Yet the verse from Acts would give validity to Suetonius’ reference being to Jews who had become Christians.
The third reference to Jesus by Josephus is short and is also from the Antiquities [and most scholars believe it is authenticate]: "[Festus] assembled a council of judges, and brought before it the brother of Jesus the so-called Christ, whose name was James, together with some others, and having accused them as law-breakers, he delivered them over to be stoned." (20.9.1)

The problems with this passage should be obvious to anyone with even a casual knowledge of Josephus…. He was thoroughly and ineluctably Jewish and certainly never converted to be a follower of Jesus. But this passage contains comments that only a Christian would make: that Jesus was more than a man, that he was the messiah, and that he arose from the dead in fulfillment of the scriptures. In the judgment of most scholars, there is simply no way Josephus the Jew would or could have written such things. So how did these comments get into his writings?
Josephus was an elite Jew, born in Jerusalem a few years after Jesus’ alleged crucifixion. He served as a Jewish military leader in Galilee, the very place alleged to have been home to Jesus. Josephus’ father, MATTHIAS, was of Jewish royalty and lived during the alleged life of Jesus, in Jerusalem, the very town in which many of Jesus’ main events were supposed to have transpired. It is curious that Josephus’ father NEVER MENTIONED A MIRACLE WORKER BY THE NAME OF JESUS OF NAZARETH.
Also, Matthias followed his paternal ancestors and served as a PRIEST IN THE TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM. He was an aristocratic priest. One of his duties was to oversee the affairs of the Jewry in Jerusalem and Palestine during the Roman occupation.
      1. Over 500 people saw Jesus after the resurrection according to the bible.
      2. Jesus fed over 5,000 people with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish and not a single person wrote about any of his miracles. There's nothing historical about Jesus and the bible.

Jesus was without sin, and he also truly, without a shadow of a doubt, knew God was real for a fact, and therefor believed. The bible also says that for whoever believes they can move a mountain, the mountain will move. If you have the slightest doubt that God can do this for you, it will not happen.
So what you're saying is that Christians cannot do miracles? I myself have witnessed miracles. For example, I knew a guy who's leg was two inches shorter than the other. He was in his twenties, and walked with crutches. One day he asked me to pray for him, and I did. I believed without a doubt that God could heal this man's leg. While we where sitting there, we watched his leg start to grow out. It was one of the most unbelievable things I had ever seen. Since then he hasn't needed crutches.
Another thing to note is that the bible has a LOT of metaphors, so not everything that you read means what you think.

      Truth Rejecter,
I could run through the ontological, teleological arguments or the arguments from morality, history, the life death Resurrection of Jesus Christ and the eyewitness testimony to that, the myriads of intellectual genius's from Galileo, Copernicus, Kepler, Newton, Faraday, Pascal, Dostoevsky, Kierkegaard , Aquinas, Augustine etc. etc, who all believed in God and took the question to places the average man will never get to much less even understand in this life and still found it better to believe than not.
Archaeological Evidence proving the Bible true

How we know Jesus and the Early Church Existed

Historical evidence for resurrection of Christ
      ua-cam.com/video/A0iDNLxmWVM/v-deo.html
To add to those informative videos, I have a document with various sources, documents, and articles that take care of many of the claims and concerns from skeptics, and prove even further validity and evidence.

Josephus, and Tacitus claim eyewitness accounts, thast being said they reported these "Eyewitness accounts" nearly 100 years after Jesus was reported dead, thus marking them completely invalid. If there is so much evidence that Cesar or king Herod existed, why so little to no evidence of even the real life existense of the "King of Kings", no record at all of any resurrection , or life after coming back? The fact that the only accounts about him were all written so much later and with varying information in the only book that even speaks of him, (other than the Qur'an but that was written much later) should make it evident to us as educated modern people that the story is mostly a tall tale so common of primitive folk 2000+years ago in the middle east.

No, I don't think it's pointless to argue the existence of someone who matters that much to so many millions of people. It matters because logically if Christ didn't exist, then such faith in Him and His teachings are in vain. His mere existence doesn't prove His divinity/powers, but it sure as heck is a step in that direction vs. nonexistence. And no, it's not in the resting place of other religions, not even close. Mainstream historians (religious and non-religious) generally agree that it is reasonable to believe that Jesus existed. We can't be 100% sure but I would concur with them.
As for the miracles, that's another story. Here we move into the realm of faith and leave the company of mainstream historians.
I think it's OK to have faith in a Divine Jesus. The problem arises when one tries to force their irrational beliefs on others (which rarely works anyway). Although I do believe it's completely rational to believe there is a God/Divine force/Grand designer. One can't be completely sure of this but most of what we believe is based on very dubious evidence anyway.
I believe that faith in Jesus can help connect some people to this Divine force/power at the ground of reality.
People connect with their higher power in different ways and a mature faith can see the many paths to God (although I hasten to emphasize "many" paths not "all" paths).

There are no non-biblical or even biblical writings of Jesus life at the time he was alive. This is a rambling rant of what I think happened regarding Jesus, historically. TL;DR = he existed, preached mostly meaningless fables; got crucified for 1 day, let down nearly dead, recovered in the tomb, lost faith in God, fled Jerusalem and lived somewhere else or died of infection due to the sword wound.
I believe that there is NO GOD, but Jesus did indeed exist, he went around Galilee, Jerusalem etc preaching fables and rhetoric; that sounded good but ultimately had no real meaning other than some moral tales - say the ancient equivalent of a Star Trek episode.
He may have had autism or some strange personality quirk, that led him to not understand when he was irritating powerful and dangerous people. I would say maybe he was a bit mentally slow; but some of his sayings do show wit and intelligence (these may however have been made up by the Gospel writers)
Jesus ultimately gathered a small following, so would go and preach with them. I think he did annoy the Jewish authorities - he didn't preach 100% approved doctrine, and he interfered with business (the incident with the money changers probably did happen). We don't know if he did claim to be God; the Jewish autorities probably claimed to the Romans that Jesus claimed to be rightful king/ruler and so the Romans reluctantly got rid of him.
He was then crucified (the gospels even disagree on what day, which shows how reliable they are...) - but as a storm was brewing, the Roman soldiers in charge wanted the deed done so they could get out of the rain. As Jesus had been heavily scourged beforehand he was unresponsive on the Cross, so they didn't bother breaking his legs and waiting for him to die; they wanted it over so they stabbed him in the side. I believe they inflicted a non fatal (or a not immediately fatal) wound with this stab, and Jesus was unconscious and close to death at this stage.
The Bible doesn't state that Jesus was on the Cross for any more than a day, and the normal Crucifixion timescale could be 3 days or more. Usually the victim ran out of energy and suffocated, or to speed up the process the Romans broke the victims legs so they couldn't support their weight. There are stories of Romans surviving cruxificion after 3 days after recieving a Pardon - one upper class Roman saw one of his old friends on a Cross - he had been there for 2 days. He petitioned the Emperor for a pardon and got one - the man was taken down from the Cross and after a period of healing, made a full recovery. Another story tells of 3 men being pardoned after 3 days - 1 survived, 2 did not recover.
So Jesus followers had asked for his body; the Romans thought he was dead but stabbed him in the side to make sure, and took down his body for Jesus's followers. He was still alive but with the rain etc he felt cold and his followers thought he was dead. They then placed his body inside a tomb (note they did not bury him) Inside the tomb he regained consciousness and slowly recovered. After 3 days of recovering he left the tomb (as for how he moved the rock, perhaps he was able to shout to a guard on the outside - perhaps he was buried with food offerings that he ate). The fact he still had his wounds also lends credence to this theory.
He went and visited his apostles who were amazed but likely felt bad that they had abandoned Jesus. No idea if they actually believed Jesus had risen from the dead, or if they knew he hadn't actually died at all.
I think Jesus then rightly knew, that if the Romans found him, they would not see him as God who conquered Death - they would instead realize they had botched his Crucifixion - and they would this time put him to death properly.
So, after seeing his apostles, in order not to dissapoint them - he made up "I am going to be with God now" - and fled far, far away. It could even be that the sword wound was actually serious - and he recovered from the trauma of crucifixion, only to pass out and die of an infection caused by punctured intestines - maybe he was then buried as an unknown.
Maybe if Jesus did infact think he really was the Messiah - after being Crucified he realized he was nothing special at all (which is why he said My Lord, Why have you forsaken me?" - which I believe he really did say) - maybe he even lost faith in God entirely after being flogged and crucified. So he went somewhere else and became an Indian philosopher, or studied the Greeks, or perhaps went back to making cabinets and chairs. The fact that the Gospels disagree on what Jesus said during the crucifixion shows that most of it is made up. Him saying he is thirsty and him asking why God forsook him I believe are the only genuine ones.

Have an open mind. With how big and eternal the universe is, both god and no god are equal possibilities. If religion can help people to become better and do good in the world, I see no issue. Just the fact that he COULD exist is enough to make me want to be a more moral human.
