I have taken cultists when facing Grey Knights. Extra bodies to spread out and choke points. They die, but my opponent spent actions dealing with them. The cultists have also gained me some secondaries such as Vantage and Behind Enemy Lines. Give the gunner a flamer for actually hitting especially if you drop him close and hidden.

I really like Chaos Marines. I run power weapon on Champ, chainsword on Icon, Plasma gun, Heavy bolter and two boltgun. I have two chainswords and 8 cultists as backup.
My CSM are my favorite to run. They are like a good breakpoint team I think in the game. They are solid all round and one you need to beat to have a chance against the top tier.
This Podcast ist worth every penny 😁 ... good that u already build 12 Marines and continue with enough cultists now to have all the options. They will become a shiny Emperor's Children team 🥰
Great Video! One thing though, isn't the power fist better than a power weapon against 9-10 W models as well? You get 3 hits on average, meaning they can normally block one (at best), and you only need 2 normal hits to kill. Sorry if I am mistaken, pretty new to Kill Team combat.
cultists make good meat shields for your marines. living walking pieces of cover for your marines is their role in life for me. krak grenades on a cultist can surprise people especially if you use that ploy, surprise!
When talking about the icon beared you said that he would benefit from icon of vengeance too, that's not really what I got from the wording. Is this the same for all icon bearers?? Thanks
I keep wanting to give new Kill Team a chance, but too much of it is just too badly designed. So much of the stuff that we waited for ywars to be added to the game was instantly removed in the new edotion, including things that were added just a fews months before. And then there are the actual rules. Armor not functioning in melee is stupid beyond all reason. Full body power armor is completely negated because "the opponent can attack the joints and gaps" if that were at all realistic then full plate would have never been invented and power armor would be a near total waste of the imperiums resources. /rantend

Also I went chainsword heavy with my Killteam, I think I'm gonna rethink this now and stick together a couple'a Bolter guys to give me some options.

I’m planning to take CSM for my first event (COVID-19 allowing). Was thinking chai swords and pistols rather than bolt guns, but now rethinking.
I love the synergies available to the new CSM, especially how "Let the Galaxy Burn" works with Malefic Rounds.
Caught the game against Micro last night, shame they couldn't pull out the win but they held their own pretty damn well at the very least.

So how do you fix the cultist champion to make it playable? This game seems to just ignore issues...
you can pay 60 bucks for the new book every 2 months and they will get fixed in 12 months
Flamer is probably better in the matchups where you would bring in cultists imo (harlequins are gonna get close etc)
