All ranged could still work with the Malefic Blades on 5 guys and Shoot/Fight Twice using four Warriors, a Leader, and Icon Bearer. Good anti horde with multiple attacks.
I like the look of them all, melee with the ability to survive and take a few hits! Sad the reaper chain cannon isn’t more of an auto take for such an unreal model. I’m hanging to see your battle reports with the new teams!
I do wish the opposed mark restrictions were based on the kill team leader (ie if nurgle leader no tzeentch operatives, etc) and not roster-wide. IMO a kill team with an undivided leader and specialists of each of the four alignments would have been highly thematic for Black Legion or Word Bearers.
Honestly, at first glance there appears to be a case for using a Reaper Chaincannon instead of the plasma gun against Kill Teams like Harlequins, who have a better invuln than regular save (so AP isn't worth anything). I mean you've room on the roster for about any possibility.
For sure! But taking entire game advice as applying to a team with all invuln saves doesn't work. Of course against harlequins a weapon selection that relies on AP doesn't make sense xD And yeah, room on the roster for everything... well, depending on how people want to run their marks of chaos into different matchups.

Icon Bearer is also an option, because he has Favoured of the Dark Gods ability, so you can get a free Strategic Ploy. Give him Mark of Nurgle and he'll camp at objective.
Don't forget that Favoured of the Dark Gods can only be used ONCE per turning point. So you can't use it on the Chosen AND the icon bearer, so he's just a back up. But you could have them be different Marks.

@@Leiderg That was the idea - as he has nothing special to directly support his fighting capabilities to leave him as back objective holder with bolter, so he would have range... but with limited bodies maybe leaving in backline more models is not such good idea :)
Great review. I still feel I would want a heavy bolter gun as the shooting twice with the ploy, it has done so much work with my compendium team. Thought I like Iron Warriors so I tend to favor ranged as a player.
One thing I didn't see you bring to attention, is that the choice of a Mark of Chaos is restricted even in the Roster. You cannot have both [Khorne] and [Slaanesh] operatives in your roster, nor [Nurgle] and [Tzeentch]. Honestly makes me want to use my Alpha Legion team likely all with Marks of Slaanesh or Undivided. (Movement increases will likely be critical given the size of the team.) I would be running the Chosen, Plasmagun, Missile Launcher, Balefire Acolyte, Butcher, and likely an Anointed.
I'm new to Kill Team so I'm curious about your perspective. What are your thoughts on having an icon bearer with tainted rounds (and possibly malefic blade) instead of a plasma gunner? I'm thinking of it from the perspective of having a back up for "favored by the dark gods" in case the leader gets incapacitated. In practice, does that extra security for the free ploys not balance out with the plasma's stopping power?
Maybe it makes sense because of the box, but it's too bad that we don't have an option to take cultists. Does that mean if you want to have some CSM and some cultists you just have to use the heretic astartes compendium?
That's the only way right now, yes. In fairness, we already have that playstyle in warpcoven and wyrmblade. Big dudes with smaller dudes backing them up. I'm totally okay with a full on elite team.
If you really want cultists you can always try proxy Warp Coven - swap Tzaangors for Cultists models. Not the best option, but still an option. That is, until GW listens to me and introduces bespoke Cultist/Daemons team, where Cultists will be able to summon Daemons into killzone :)
I love the way that the new sprue is going to look for my kill team; I wish I had some Gal Vorbak! Glass, how did you get that cool looking blue on the malefic blade? I have to admit that I do like the massive doublehanded chainaxe for the butcher... Can you really only take 6 legionaries and no cultists?
Cultists aren't a thing in the Legionary team, no. When doing my blades, I cover them in black templar so they're black. Then do a thick layer of talassar blue. Then drybrush silver. If you mean the blue flames then that was just talassar blue with a light silver drybrush (white undercoat, not black)
Malicious volleys and hateful assault is not limited to undivided only. The team is all still legionary💀 so as the wording says all legionary💀, it would still include each operative regardless of which chaos mark they have. The Slaanesh ability isn't as you described. Injured is a key word meaning less than half wounds characteristic. Seeing as most melee Chaos marine have 5+ damage the strat ploy is basically useless unless you consider 14+ wound characteristic models.
How does malignant aura work with invuls? Also i doubt that mutability and change can work with hateful assault and malicious volleys because they need u to have undivided mark, and that one works with tzeentch.

I have a squad of Sternguard Veterans, and am thinking of running them by these Legionaries' rules, re-flavoring effects. I also think that a full-ranged team will work fine - these are basically Tactical Marines but better. Aspiring Champion, Plasmagunner, Heavy Bolter, Icon Bearer, and two regular dudes with bolters. One dude gets a knife. Have Undivided on the leader, Tzeentch on everyone else, including Icon bearer, so you can always choose between the offense of Malicious Volleys or defense of Tzeentch's Ploys.
I think full nurgle teams are gonna be low key the best. Every lost operative is a huge blow, and their defensive tech is really good actually between straight up reducing damage (annointed both reducing with ploy and then fnp is gonna be almost as tough as a cusdoes) and a possibility to ignore injured is huge. Butchers "unreliability" (should get 3 hits on average when uninjured) is a little bit concerning.
@@GlassHalfDead with the amount of Krak grandes and te like i wouldn't take my chances at not ever getting shot. Also noone is gonna stop that plasma gunner from running 2" from your operatives an shooting them point blank lol. Nurgle bois can actually survive that.
So each fomo box releases with a book that contains rules for the 2 kill teams and the terrain in that box. This one was called the Nachmund book. I don't believe you can get it anymore :/

Not always Plasma. Reaper would be nice vs like voiddancers with ward etc. Sheet number of shots and Ceaseless almost guarentees kill. Say 6 shots are in and 3 are saved. They still gonna die.
Muability and change doesent give you an Action Andrew, just give you an LPA DURING your activation... The moment u generate your AP due to your APL its the activation moment of the model. as page 59 of rulebook state.. so you must declare that ploy at the moment when you select your order thats still in the beginning of the activation.. if u made some action your AP are already behing generwted and +1 LPA doesent give you an AP
Wording seems pretty clear to me... Ork nob is worded differently.. Q: If an operative’s Action Point Limit is modified during its activation, will the action points it generated for that activation be affected? A: No, unless otherwise specified. Mutability and change state exactly as the answer: during tzeench operative activation.. so its No That faq apply to ork nob that state: Each time this operative its activate.. so its at the start of his activation.. Only option if its the ploy can override faq with the exact matching word used.. that its his 'otherwise stated" part of the answer

I suspect that GW are going to FAQ all instances going forwards where they've used this sort of wording as the intent seems clear, because there really isn't a point in ever using MAC in its RAW form.

(or for disconnect archiotech and so on) u can do the mission action only if you have the control of it.. happened to me last week: plasma guy on a point shoot the Harlequin previusly control/activate it; Harlequin didnt die.. spent 1cp to control than activate it and won the match by 1 vp difference.. Imho i think its that what is intended.. leader champ basically has the same ability itself.. writing something 100% same word as something previusly questioned on a faq where they already answer that and could use the "NOB" wording instead.. seems to me pretty intentional
@@GetOv3rcharg3d We'll just have to wait and see if GW changes it in the next round of FAQ's and play it accordingly. I'm aware of how the extra APL can be used, but as said, I don't believe such a limited use is actually intentional.
This was a Premiere! I currently only do Patreon, yes. Primarily because Patreon takes 15% of the membership, YT takes 30%. Also, I currently do not do consistent additional Patreon content and view Patreon as a tip jar. If I were to do YT membership, then I would feel I have to do regular content, and right now I'm very restricted in time to commit to weekly additional videos.

Is there an Argument for Heavy gunner over one of the melee guys due to the team being very melee focused? If so which would you drop? Dual knife? Butcher? Or Claw guy? Also Chosen or Champion to lead?
@@matthewhayes4043 I disagree. The role of the Butcher is to charge, so Vicious Blows is always used. Devastating Onslaught lets you croud control. Give him the Mark of Khorne and you always Crit the enemy (while charging you get Relentless!)
Especially with how slow I talk. Some people put out amazingly concise content. I literally just can't. Consider it a long term goal that I get better at this!
@Deus888 I don't mind if he does focus series. Like a lot of indepth stuff. I've done some combos and simms already and it's surprising what you can do with them. Also Glass, some friends told me they do miss indepth, more advanced content here. So you should think about some focus series and talks about combos and plays if you also want to cater to more advanced players. That is if you want to ofc.
Odd they took away the Icons buffing ability, they also took away all the Equipment that made the heavy gunner worth taking, it's kinda a side grade in some respects but I'm still excited
@@GlassHalfDead I’m actually of a different mind to you on this team, where you see a melee oriented team, I intend to go for a range focused team that can swap into a melee build when it has to.
I believe the took away Icon because of the new Tzeetch mark being a permanent no CP Let The Galaxy Burn, but way better. But I agree that it's a bit weird, since melee is clearly the strongest way to build this team, keeping the icon ability would have helped making a more range focused team be viable, without it being stronger.
But he isn't. Not when you factor in Mark bonuses and ploys. I am placing Mark of Khorne on Chosen and Anointed and let's get some skulls for the Skull Throne!
Oh, well that's weird. Tzeentch and khorne have always been opposed and slaanesh and nurgle likewise. I'd say there's a decent chance that's a misprint.

Only the Champion's Chainsword comes with the Parrying Hook. It makes it a viable option for them.

You have to get your books spiral bound yourself, many printing shops will do it for not much money.

Malicious Volleys calls out that you can only shoot twice with a "Bolt" weapon :)

Could also be good vs really low save teams like guard? The chain cannon can't double shoot, but splitting it's shots vs guard might not be terrible?

Muability and change doesent give you an Action Andrew, just give you an LPA DURING your activation... The moment u generate your AP due to your APL its the activation moment of the model. as page 59 of rulebook state.. so you must declare that ploy at the moment when you select your order thats still in the beginning of the activation.. if u made some action your AP are already behing generwted and +1 LPA doesent give you an AP

Only option if its the ploy can override faq with the exact matching word used.. that its his 'otherwise stated" part of the answer
@@GetOv3rcharg3d Yes, fair point. RAW you're correct. However RAI it should work in the same way as the Ork Nob's ability. I suspect that GW are going to FAQ all instances going forwards where they've used this sort of wording as the intent seems clear, because there really isn't a point in ever using MAC in its RAW form.
@@GlassHalfDead control an objve when there is equal apl during the activation on it as for mission 2.3 domination.. (or for disconnect archiotech and so on) u can do the mission action only if you have the control of it.. happened to me last week: plasma guy on a point shoot the Harlequin previusly control/activate it; Harlequin didnt die.. spent 1cp to control than activate it and won the match by 1 vp difference..
Imho i think its that what is intended.. leader champ basically has the same ability itself.. writing something 100% same word as something previusly questioned on a faq where they already answer that and could use the "NOB" wording instead.. seems to me pretty intentional
@@GetOv3rcharg3d We'll just have to wait and see if GW changes it in the next round of FAQ's and play it accordingly. I'm aware of how the extra APL can be used, but as said, I don't believe such a limited use is actually intentional.

I currently only do Patreon, yes. Primarily because Patreon takes 15% of the membership, YT takes 30%.
Also, I currently do not do consistent additional Patreon content and view Patreon as a tip jar. If I were to do YT membership, then I would feel I have to do regular content, and right now I'm very restricted in time to commit to weekly additional videos.

Chosen is the default leader imo.
@@matthewhayes4043 I disagree. The role of the Butcher is to charge, so Vicious Blows is always used. Devastating Onslaught lets you croud control. Give him the Mark of Khorne and you always Crit the enemy (while charging you get Relentless!)
Depends on the mission and the enemy faction. Anointed (the claw guy) can't perform mission actions, so it can be a big deal sometimes.
You completely disregarded tainted rounds. That's something you can use on other guys to have them shoot with 4/5 bolters or bolt pistols

@Deus888 I don't mind if he does focus series. Like a lot of indepth stuff. I've done some combos and simms already and it's surprising what you can do with them. Also Glass, some friends told me they do miss indepth, more advanced content here. So you should think about some focus series and talks about combos and plays if you also want to cater to more advanced players. That is if you want to ofc.

Odd they took away the Icons buffing ability, they also took away all the Equipment that made the heavy gunner worth taking, it's kinda a side grade in some respects but I'm still excited
I think it's a straight buff to the team as a whole, but as for the ranged specifically... hmm, probably also a buff thanks to the marks tbh.

I’m actually of a different mind to you on this team, where you see a melee oriented team, I intend to go for a range focused team that can swap into a melee build when it has to.
I believe the took away Icon because of the new Tzeetch mark being a permanent no CP Let The Galaxy Burn, but way better. But I agree that it's a bit weird, since melee is clearly the strongest way to build this team, keeping the icon ability would have helped making a more range focused team be viable, without it being stronger.
As a Khorne player, I'm sad to see that the sorcerer is the best melee character 😞
But he isn't. Not when you factor in Mark bonuses and ploys. I am placing Mark of Khorne on Chosen and Anointed and let's get some skulls for the Skull Throne!

Oh, well that's weird. Tzeentch and khorne have always been opposed and slaanesh and nurgle likewise. I'd say there's a decent chance that's a misprint.
those parings also have sense if we would focus of those atributes: stagnation vs change and indulgence vs hard strength
