Can it be used as a dashcam?
I put indoor cameras on a smart plug in home assistant running alarmo to turn on and off when I arm or disarm, works a treat.

One of the things I find quite likeable about your reviews is that you anticipate a lot of questions and then provide answers to them. This includes the questions people will raise about Eufy vs Aqara. You answered that one quite satisfactorily by noting that Eufy is good for cameras and Aqara is good for smart sensors. The "Ode to Backhanded Face Slapping" was an added bonus.
I do like seeing what's coming out from Eufy and this camera is above even their high standards of "ooh and ahh."
The sulking privacy mode had me both laughing and appreciating having it at the same time. Clearly they've put some thought into this including recognizing that most folks who buy this are probably multiple phone families.
I agree with you that speed of notification when you're out is more important. Points for Eufy.
The video recordings look fantastic. (The interpretive dance could use a little work, but it was sufficient to show off the devices. The theme music, on the other hand, was top-notch.) I'm not thinking the frame-rate is a serious issue because the most common use case for video is extracting stills for identification.
I also agree that Eufy really has the home security concept nailed. They not only have powerful devices, but their UI makes them easy to work with. Most home security setups have some issues on the later.

Nice video. Thanks for reviewing another product. Have you saw the Tapo cameras? I recently moved my home to those. The part that worth looking is that they are fast. Very fast. I also have a SwitchBot camera and it takes a while for it to load the live feed of the camera, even more to replay recordings. But the Tapo is instantly. For both live and recordings. Even on mobile data. It is truly amazing.

I use Wyze Cams. Similar features. Plus color night vision if you want. But no snooze mode. It does have privacy mode thought which can be done by Geo fencing as well. Local storage is definitely great!

There is a HACS integration for Eufy Security on Home Assistant. I use the security mode from Eufy to basically trigger what mode my home is in for automations, and use HA geofencing to set the Eufy mode. Really wish they would release an official integration though to remove the slight jank you get with community apps.
Does this camera shoe up in the integration though? That’s what I want to know. I’m looking for an indoor camera tentatively

If I remember rightly (I made this video a couple weeks ago) it doesn’t show up on the HA integration 🙁 hence my investigation into rtsp as an alternative, though there’s then the issue of it only running in 1080P, whether or not it still records in 1080P to its own storage I’m not sure
@@paulhibbert a eufy security app update just said they added RTSP to the S350 so might be worth a look again once that filters through everywhere.

Been using Eufy cams in the garden for a year or so now (following your test of the solar cam summer 22) and genuinely love them. I don't think I'd ever buy a ring product again to be honest...

I wish Eufy would add a snooze function for turning off the camera's as well. Notification snoozing is great, but being able to also turn them off for an hour or so would also be good. For example, when we are out at the pool, it would be great to keep it from continually recording us by turning it off for an hour or 2 and having it come back on automatically.

Maybe i'm too much of a nerd but I'm missing some of the basic info on what it supports or not like for example: mounting options (e.g. ceiling), ethernet, POE, ONVIF etc.
Can be ceiling mounted, is WiFi only, only has rtsp at 1080P not onvif 🙂

If I’m remembering right (this video was filmed a couple weeks ago) this camera doesn’t connect to any Homebase and runs directly on WiFi. Check their website FAQs to be sure though!
I have 10 Ezviz that I use power over Ethernet adapters to run. Their human detection works great if you are more than 5 feet from the camera. Get closer than that and step sideways and it will lose track of you. I don’t know if this is a motor speed thing or what but it’s kind of a bummer because it works so well other than that.
Love EZVIZ stuff, but you’re right, when I tested their intercom style cam it ignored me as long as I moved slowly enough! Really odd behaviour and they said it was necessary due to its likely placement

1080p on the RTSP stream is really the biggest downside to this camera. I already had it in my shopping cart before getting to that part of the video. I use Blue Iris and have a wide range of different types / brands of cameras so I have no desire to have to open a different app to view a feed or recording.
First time I've been ahead of Paul on this one. Feeling kinda chuffed. One bad thing I noticed over Christmas is the motion detection detects Christmas lights flickering, and constantly gives alerts for this. I haven't found a solution for this, but the Christmas tree has gone back into storage for another year so...

It's cute and sulks when put in 'time out'....... Provided it works properly in Home Assistant (not on the fly) it will also work in Homekit. I shall investigate it further......
I have several Eufy cameras. The one thing I would like to see that my old Arlo system was able to do is mix geofencing with scheduling. I would like to be able to tell the system when I'm away to do Away and when home do Schedule, as I have my cameras do different things during the day and night when I'm at home.

I've got a eufy 2k doorbell, hub2 and a few other cameras but I find it too slow to load on my echo. Not sure if this is the eufy or the Alexa side.

Is it possible to set the motion detection to be automatically saved to the phone, or is it only saved to the SD card and then manually downloaded to the phone? If a thief gets into the apartment and destroys the camera, will the video be automatically saved on the phone?

I have a load of eufy gear and generally I am happy with it.
However, I wanted to get an indoor cam and this was going to be it....until I spotted and watched the framerate!

Eufy really finally needs to make goefencing and time schedules work together and not mutually exklusive. As you also cannot automate modes in any way else (e.g. by another eco system or http request), there is no way to have a Different Mode at night vs at daytime vs when you are away.

Yes! +100! If you swich to away mode in the app, everything switches (security & camera). But if you switch on the control panel, no way to change the cameras as well. If it is possible ove rthe app, so it should be possible over the panel????
Yes unfortunately you have to manually trigger the mode in the app, I actually have the S350 and have it on privacy mode in the day time & enabled when we are asleep in an area that covers the majority of the middle of the house where no one should be when we are sleeping.

Can the Eufy software be set to geofencing mode with schedules, so if returning home cameras inside turn off but out side cameras turn on and off against a schedule automatically?
Apparently not! Another commenter just drew my attention to this and I will raise it with eufy as feedback
I have a couple of Eufy cameras. One of the shortcomings of human detection is that unless it has an unobstructed view of ‘a human’ it doesn’t register it as present. We have 2 cars on the driveway but it doesn’t register anyone until they’ve walked out from in between the cars.
You could see this in action on your video when your partner was partially obscured by the mic stand thing. She had to come round from the back of it before the camera registered her. This aspect of the AI needs improvement.
On the whole though, Eufy are reasonably priced and seem to work well enough for that price. However, they’re also inconsistant across their product range as to whether they work with Home, Homebase or purely just as a local device over WiFi.
I think the notifications come in at the same time but iOS can only display one at a time. Could you see if they come up at the same time when in the notification section? Instead of waiting for the pop up?
I agree, not being able to see multiple camera feeds on the same screen made me go for Reolink instead
There can definitely only be one winner for notifications each time, every camera has some delay to be measured.

Don't think the variety of cameras is quite there with eufy especially outdoor wired options. Reolink has a great variety but a terrible alexa integration, have to use emails and virtual buttons instead 😭.

I really like the look of this product and the features, but what's to stop the burglar from picking it up and throwing it out the window?, or even better pressing the reset button and taking it home and using it in their own house?. Btw. When you were doing the side by side comparison, why was it not panning and following the burglar/mime artist around ??
I’d turned AI follow mode off for the purpose of capturing a comparison.
It’s the same as any camera I guess, you either put an SD card in it and then attach it somewhere difficult to steal, or you buy the cloud service so the theft is recorded off-site.
Hey Paul, I have switchbot cams and I can’t get Alexa to set privacy no matter following guidelines and instructions set by switchbot. Is there something I am missing or a skill I have to enable?
Can’t remember if I enabled the switchbot skill in the Alexa app the old fashioned way, or if I “linked” them through the switchbot app the new way. It might have been the second one!

I use Eufy for all my cameras aside from the doorbell and Aqara for everything else. The wireless solar 4K cameras are unrivalled and so is this camera - just a shame we have to use a Raspberry Pi to get them working with HomeKit in 2024.

I have the Eufy door bell, ya I couldn't figure out how to get this into home assistant. The TP Link Tapo C210 does most of what you mention there, has a larger tilt angle and actually works in Home Assistant, abit with a custom intergration and a lot of faffing about, but I've discovered that's home assistant all over, it's not exactly what I would call 'user friendly"! Come @ me :)
Eufy's Geofencing is still in Beta on my app (and I see is as well on yours in the video), and still doesn't work!
The only way I can get any use out of these cameras is to set up a schedule which kind of matches my work schedule, but leaves it in home mode when I'm home. That has it constantly filming in Home mode which is not great as I don't get notifications if anyone enters should I leave for anything durng those scheduled periods, but at least it gets recorded.
Strange how companies like Canary can get this working a decade ago by simply linking your phone's connection to your home wifi as your presence at home, yet Eufy cannot.
I’ve been using the geofencing since I created this video a couple weeks ago 🤷🏻♂️ just got back from holiday and it immediately went back into privacy mode. I tested it when making the video by walking round the block twice a day for a week, it worked every time just like the previous eufy cameras I tested at the old house. In my previous testing I installed the app on both my wife’s android and mine and tested them one at a time to make sure it did what it was meant to, this time around I’m using an iPhone.
Are you sure your phone has been given all the necessary permissions to the Eufy app? Might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling.

The RTSP would be handy to integrate this into BlueIris. Is anyone else still using this or has it fallen out of favour? I connect my home assistant to my blueiris feeds.

I don't understand the title... you gave it a glowing review but you don't want people to put it in their house?
I use the Eufy dual cam doorbell and in HA when it detects humans at night turns on my lights in the front of my house. I have Eufy E340 on the shed in my backyard and AT NIGHT it can detect me at 40 feet, start recording and in Alexa I have it turn on these big high beam lights at the top of my house that light up the entire yard. Eufy is absolutely on point but their integration with HA is abysmal for all their products. If they worked they would be #1 for home security without question. .. and of course ... if they would get rid of that crap where if you hold the reset button on the camera it deletes ALL footage on the homebase!
I'm confused... how does the camera work (and the app) w/o wifi.... Eufy's website doesn't indicate this.

Aqara alarm will not activate when we leave the home. I have set homkit to activate when we are away nothing happen.

So, here is the problem - Eufy does not turn camera off, it is still looking at you, just not recording. This is the best you can have. And while on this model it is not that prominent, the only one had a "dome" where it would normally turn the lens when it is off. So in the end - the camera still stares at you and you should trust that it is fully off and not recording, and you aren't hacked.
Interesting product and i'm not throwing shade at Eufy at all but you left out the whole data privacy deal they got in trouble over recently. Having said that, I have a few of their devices myself and like them. I think the whole thing was overblown because obviously if you are able to see the video on a phone then it must stream it to the phone.
I was kind of expecting this. It’s frustrating that Eufy “patched” the “flaw” before Rob from the hookup and I were able to setup our competition. Rob had a camera ready to go and he was going to give out various details and tell people “have at it; first person to hack his camera wins X,Y and Z” I was gonna throw in a Hubitat, a Homey hub, and some other smart home bits and bobs, and Rob had some prizes lined up, Brian from automate your life was gonna throw in some prizes too.
We were absolutely confident that the so called “flaw” was absolutely impossible to get through because this is Rob’s field. He calculated that it would take a computer a billion years to crack the security at the time to get a thumbnail of someone’s driveway. It has since (unfortunately for our plans) been made entirely impossible even if our audience had the required billion years.
To be absolutely clear; Paul and others had only been able to “hack” their own cameras, not other people’s. I’m sure Paul will happily tell you this himself.
Rob made a video about the “flaw” at the time that you can still watch today. In my opinion the system was (and still is) more trustworthy than 90% of the stuff out there because the cloud element is far smaller than most, and the company to date has never had a breach, unlike say Ring who have had multiple breaches. That said Eufy are not entirely guilt free and I’ll talk about that in a minute.
Eufy, in my opinion, have the best off the shelf camera system on the market if you want privacy, the tiny cloud element to my knowledge only relates to notifications and you can turn all that stuff off in the settings if you are happy to live without the screenshots in the pop up notice. That said, is anything connected to the Internet truly ENTIRELY secure? Of course not, did that need to be said? Maybe...
I always assume folks installing off the shelf camera solutions appreciate that ANY camera connected to the internet can be seen from the internet by anyone who has got hold of your details, I mean, duh! That’s why in the video I talk about the camera having privacy modes based on geofencing, I think the advantage to that is obvious.
So the only remaining concern was that a company marketing itself as entirely local had TRANSIENT images going through the cloud to give you thumbnails IF you turned the option on in the settings. This is a misdemeanour at worst in my opinion considering the likelihood of someone getting access to those thumbs for the short time they existed on the server, you might feel differently.
I personally felt at the time about that pretty much the same way I do now… whoop dee flipping do. Eufy got a ridiculously rough ride for not really being any less secure than anyone else, and for a transient cloud element that was entirely necessary to provide the service.
Hope that gives some perspective for anyone that didn’t already know all the ins and outs.

There is a HACS integration for Eufy on Home Assistant, but its reliability is questionable.
I don’t know if this camera is supported. The HACS integration works well enough for automations I find

Thanks, as always, for the FANTASTIC [and ALWAYS hysterical] video. I have SOOOOOOOO many Eufy cameras and MOSTLY LOVE them. But I am TRYING to make the HomeBase3 and cameras and sensors as an ADT or RING ALARM substitute and am INFURIATED by how BADLY it works. They finally came out with Eufy Siren that is a key part of a working system. But ALL HomeBase3, Camera Alarms and Eufy Sirens AUTOMATICALLY DISABLE and STOP after 30 seconds. This makes the alarm POINTLESS. It DISABLES itself BEFORE a criminal could care and/or decide to leave. Their [pretty infuriating support] said this is BY DESIGN to avoid noise complaints. I could understand settings that MAX at 10 minutes of siren... But FRIGGIN 30 seconds... WTF! Can you hit the product manager over the head with a SOFT PILLOW until they change that? Can you use great influence? What are YOUR thoughts on this 30 second alarm sound limit on ALL their products [HomeBase, Cameras, Sirens etc]? Inquiring Beer Vloggers need to know. Thank again.

Only problem with Eufy..... They make it extremely difficult, and actually deprecated pieces of their API to break HA integrations, to integrate programmatically. Otherwise this thing is cute, I love it, I just dont love Eufy. I think things work okay in HA today, but they can easily break the entire integration, and it took a metric ton of work for people to reverse engineer. I dont support companies who wall things off in this manner.
So my friend I have been a subscriber for many years my friend love your videos and also have my own UA-cam channel my friend so my question to you is will it work on the first home base or do I need to update to the new home base all my cameras are eufy 1 at the front door and the eufy doorbell and a eufy camera at the back of my house really good for catching will say people out having a smoke my friend so do I need to upgrade to the new home base
Its like this AI bot or a home base for emo or the DJI air 3 am kinda surprised your wife hasn't let you get a DJI drone yet my friend don't tell her I said that lol
If I remember rightly this camera doesn’t connect to any Homebase, it connects directly to your WiFi and only records to its onboard SD cardboard the cloud. Check the eufy website to make sure I’ve remember that right though!
