Good to go back to basics with the helix since there's been updates since 5 years ago like you said lots of new users since those old videos were made with the older updates. Good job man!

Nice one! The basics are not basics when folks are new to the world of modelers. Contextual info like this is super helpful and can make the difference between someone playing rad riffs with rad tones or putting it on reverb and giving up.

Thanks Nick. I appreciate that you show us how to do some of this stuff. It really is easier for me to digest when someone familiar is willing to take the time to walk me through the basics.

I was just clicking on videos and I am glad I found this now that I have native and a helix floor (my 3rd floor lol) now I can actually record a DI track with my processed tone. YES!

I am new in multieffects, I found Helix has more awesome tones/patches recommendations and materials online. I have Boss Gx-100 hard to find modern metal tones.

My HX Stomp really must be broken. DI/Dry volume level is around -28dB and the processed signal is only a tad bit louder. To make it usable I need to add about +20dB to the output block and in my DAW for a dry signal I need to add a gain plugin or something to do the same. Really takes the fun out of it when you need to mess around this much. Enough of my complaining now, thanks for the video :-).

I have that same 7 string and I cant seem to make my hx stomp sound that good. I struggle with a crap ton of low end. When I try to use a 10 band eq at the front of the signal path or a low cut it just makes my tone sound thin and harsh. I use the Kali Lp6 monitors so idk if that has anything to do with it but it drives me insane. What should I do? Any help appreciated.

Sounds like you have some resident frequency‘s building up in your space. Unfortunately, even the best studio monitors in the world or sound like shit in certain spaces. I know I struggle with that issue as well. It’s why I’ve gotten really good at monitoring things through my headphones. Unfortunately there’s just so many variables to attack with your question but I would start with getting a decent set of headphones, STUDIO quality headphones, and learn how all of your favorite mixes and guitar tone sound on that. Then you’ll be able to dial something in that you’re hopefully happier with

Thanks for these tutorial videos, they have been a game changer for me! I have a few questions, if I may 🙏
    * This video's setup deviates a little from one of the previous setups you illustrated, helix -> audio interface. This is currently the approach I use too. Helix -> UR22C. Do you still do that, and why would I choose one setup over the other?
    * I recently moved to a new country where the electricity seems to be kind of odd, I feel I'm getting a ton of new baseline noise. If you do know of/or have encountered this issue perhaps, do you think adding something like a line filter / DI somewhere in the mix (between helix + audio interface), or even an additional line isolator from audio interface -> monitors could help?

This is for those who want to use their helix as an audio interface. Neither is better than the other. It just depends on your needs. As for dirty power, I know for a fact that their is often noise associated with the USB connection and they do make filters.

Top 3 amps and cabs in Helix?

Do evertunes have bad sympathetic ring out on mutes? Also, I have 3 different tunings I want to experiment with. Should I just stick with a hard tail?

    • @NickHillMakesMusic
      @NickHillMakesMusic  2 роки тому

I don’t have any issue and yes, switching tuning isn’t exactly an easy task so if that’s something you’re in to, I would not look to an evertune

    No stock cabs anymore?

Who said that? I still use them. I use both. Depends on what I want to use. Don’t you worry :)

Can we get a review of the Neural DSP plugins? , they free trail , i think they kickass, better tone and feel than helix imo.

Probably not Bud. I always go back to Helix no matter the device I use and I never play through plugins. Thanks for being here though
