    Sounds like a lot of quality of life upgrades. Which usually help a game, but not in a way that can fix fundamental flaws with a game. They can turn something that's very good into something great. They can't turn something that's bad into something alright, and I think it's rare they can turn something alright into something good.

  • @JezaGaia
    @JezaGaia 12 днів тому +1

    To me the issue with the "difficulty" settings they implemented is that they make the game more tedious fro everyone when good difficulty scaling is supposed to make the challenging and fun for those who want that experience and leave an "easy" route for those who like a more casual gameplay.
    Here you have a choice between having to spend hundreds of bullets to kill a couple of enemies at your level while they easily one shoot you or having an easy time killing low level enemies but having to do so over and over again in order to be able to level up enough to go enjoy the higher level parts of the game.
    A good difficulty setup would be for example to have the same XP gain no matter the settings, have all enemies have the same amount of health per category no matter the setting but in harder difficulty have the enemies be smarter, better equipped and maybe even have more of them. It's something that for example the mod Requiem does for Skyrim. Enemies are not bullet sponges but you need to mind armor, it really protects, and if you take an arrow in the face you're out, but so are they, unless a helmet was protecting said head.
    Instead of lowering the amount of credits merchants have to prevent the player from being mega rich very quickly have loot be more scarce and adjust prices. It also make sit much more satisfying to find good loot if you're not tripping over it every step you take.
    Add the need to buy fuel, to repair items, have resources or items we can't harvest or build ourselves so we have to buy them.
    Here what you have is tedious inventory management because either you can barely carry anything, your ship is the same and vendors are poor so you have to haul your loot from planet to planet to be able to offload it all. Or you can more easily deal with it but you have t go out and do a lot of tedious dungeon crawling to be able to level up and go explore the higher level parts of the galaxy and do the more in depth quests so you are going to have tons of loot to go sell anyway because you'll kill 5 or 10 times more enemies to level up.
    Where is the fun in that ?

  • @vert2552

    Setting exp 'debuffs' to stuff like vendor carrying credits or simply your cargo eq capacity is just wild.
    First actual decent update in 8 months since release and they obviously managed to fuck it up
    also yeah, decorating is nice, very nice and obviously that was a big miss in core game, BUT manual door placement/where the rooms connect is so minor thing, but affects overall experience so much it's yet again crazy it wasnt addressed. If you play test creator for 10min you can get to that frustration, yet it's here. it really must be in the patch or all the decorating is meaningless really
    overall fully agree, finally something (might be) good, but too little too late if you are not fully in love with Todd. Muuch better would have to be done for me to even consider reinstalling the game and giving it another try. To be honest if i could i would get a refund as i really do not need this game in my library - which is bit painful feeling when i think how much i cherish old Bethesda games

    • @BlazeMakesGames
      @BlazeMakesGames  19 днів тому +2

      yeah it's so wild that they decided to punish players for lowering the difficulty and changing certain settings by lowering exp gain. Like what does it actually achieve? Say someone actually really needs some of these settings adjusted like carry capacity just to enjoy the game at all. But now the already grindy game is made *even more* grindy in exchange. So you're just trading one problem for another one. What if one of my biggest complaints is the experience progression (it is), the only way to improve that is to make the rest of the game worse so that I can level up faster?

    • @vert2552
      @vert2552 19 днів тому +1

      @@BlazeMakesGames full with you on this. it really is mindblowing to me how crazy someone's logic behind this must be. And unless they did not change anything since premiere, last decision maker was always Todd. I just can't simply grasp how can someone be out of touch.
      I even would understand if at least decision was terrible for fans, but was obviously driven by profits, but no. This literally serves noone. People who dislike the game but are still listening from time to time on news will just drop any hopes, and even biggest defenders at some point must look on this and ask "Just why?".
      Like they didn't have (let's remember it has been 8 months) enough time to think about what and how to adress basic (but huge) problems.
      This logic strongly reminds me of all the decisions that made Fallout 76 and all the decisions that followed its premiere with all the lying, terrible PR, out of mind decisions to give people 500 atoms (5$) for literally lying and not delivering what they promised in 250-300$ collectors editions and much more...
      I guess all the lawsuits did not teach them the lesson lol
      To not make it even longer, i'll just add that at this point i have no hopes for TES VI. Unless Microsoft will push to make some changes in how Bethesda operates and unless Creation Engine won't be dropped entirely (aka i do not want to see Todd coming out again and preseting us new engine "Creation Engine 3.0"), i really do not plan to buy it, no matter how Todd may make us hyped for the game.

  • @Rietto
    @Rietto 20 днів тому +9

    I wonder if they rushed the original release as being 'good enough' trying to time it with The Game Awards expecting a shoo-in GotY award for their hyped 'magnum opus'. They really seemed shocked that the audience didn't just eat up with a spoon the slop they presented. Because they're just that delusional. But that ended up being such an embarrassing moment for them.

    • @BlazeMakesGames
      @BlazeMakesGames  20 днів тому +12

      it's wild because the game was already delayed for an entire year so you'd think they'd have had time to add in some of these things that really should have been in at launch. Or alternatively delay the game again, but maybe Microsoft wanted to see a return on their investment.

      @@BlazeMakesGames And, if the modders and data miners are to be believed, there are SO MUCH reused code from Fallout 4 and so much "Empty spaces" with connections to those "Spaces" where clearly there were a feature there.
      As a modding enthusiast i was deep on the forums seeing the potential for modding the game, and folks were finding lots of holes in the system, almost like the game were stripped out of lots of parts to be shipped.
      May be because of the reboots, may be because those parts weren't polished and ready?
      Who knows.
      But still, the fact apparently, even the Power Armor code is floating inside Starfield code, is just insane.
      Or the fact that all the NPCs do have a "S.P.E.C.I.A.L" score assigned to them, and the way modders found to make stealth barely possible with a companion, was to make all companions have "Agility 10000" and give them the perk of getting invisible when crouching.

    Great update no doubt, but the game needs the rest of the year before I'll consider checking it out again.
    My biggest issue was how PG and restricted you are with quests, which likely won't change. The game needs more content and a DLC questline that doesn't suck or maybe adds to the main story.

    • @BlazeMakesGames
      @BlazeMakesGames  19 днів тому +1

      yeah I highly doubt that they're going to suddenly release an update that improves the writing and options presented in a lot of the base game's quests, or an update that makes exploring the galaxy feel more fun and less about menu navigation. At best I think the DLC could offer its own better set of standalone stories and quests, and maybe some more tailored environments to explore. But that won't fix the base game.

In terms of combat, I could see adding one or two levels of difficult, but I can't say I want to mess with level changes. Ship interior features are great as long as they FIXED the surface sinking issue. The camera fix is good because I can't speak for PC, but on Xbox S you'll sometimes be at eye level, nearly the height of a giant, or (and yes, this happened) at the height of a child standing at the counter.

      @@vert2552 Not surprising. Bethesda's quality has been in a decline for over a decade now. They've systematically striped major game play features with every game they put out. Oblivion removed Attributes from the game. Skyrim reduced the skill system into perks. Fallout 4 essentially removed dialogue options in favor of their "responses" system which was garbage. I haven't played Fallout 76 but I guess they removed skills entirely in favor of just perks? I can only imagine what their future games be like.

    Starfield died on arrival (atleast for me) because it was all the worst parts of Bethesda, with non of the good.
    -Poor and lazy writing
    -1000 P̶l̶a̶n̶e̶t̶s̶ Loading screens
    -Braindead AI
    -Boring af characters (for example: I went through all the effort to romance Sam Coe, and after all that effort he jst said "I feel close to you" and gave me a fukn hat????) -EVERYTHING IS A FETCH QUEST!!!
    There are a million other issues that I wont even mention but the final thing I know killed it is how the modders said they dont care to make mods for it.
    Bugthesda really dropped the ball with this one...and 76.
    Is it bad to say I dont have hope for TES6?

    lets be honest here in reality how much infrastraucture do you really expect on a back water planet in reality most places in a universe like starfield were inter galaxy space travel is a relatively new thing are going be mostly empty and what does exist will be far apart the opnly thing I really hated was how small the cites were like neon is basically just an average sized oil rig. I feel like every planet being extremely robust with points of interest is unrealistic but all they needed to do to balence that is just make the major centers of populaces massive in a space opera type game you wouldn't waste time in the boonies. You'd be in an out as fast as possible, but going to citiess the npcs talk about like they are the size of new york and seeing an average sized suburban town is emersion breaking

    • @BlazeMakesGames
      @BlazeMakesGames  19 днів тому

      I mean this is essentially the argument that Bethesda themselves said about how astronauts on the moon weren’t bored.
      Yes it’s technically realistic to not have a lot of things to do on these random planets. But that doesn’t change the fact that they made a game about landing on random planets without providing a good reason to be landing on random planets.
      They essentially made the game boring on purpose for the sake of “realism” which seems like a pointless endeavor imo. Especially when I’d hardly call the game as a whole a realistic space sim with how poor the space mechanics are, the magic dragon shouts being a thing, and the fact that every planet in the universe seemingly has the exact same cryolab on it.

    Before part seeing the video. I'm a Bethesda fanboy.Fangirl? Fan. I even love Fallout 76.
    But No.
    This update does not save Starfield and only shows me that it won't be saved.
    It took them 9 months to do what modders did in less than a month. Of course more refined because they had the toolkit while modders were working with scraptape, glue and that strange metal thingy on your garage storage.
    Bethesda NEEDS to change their workflow (and fire Emil Pagliarulo )
    Fuck me i hate comparing companies but the should start copying Larian.
    Have 3 studios, one on specific timezones, that work together.
    So when one studio is finishing their hours, another is opening up and continuing the development.
    Inter-Studio development within different timezones means you can literally work around 24hrs without crunching your workers, and having your game developing non-stop.
    And have the Lead Director each day keep the progress and adjust what is needed.
    Yeaah, Bethsda\Microsoft would need to put some money on it? But they're sitting on infinite wealth, just need the CEOs and execs cut their paychecks for like 3 months do budget this.
    So no, this update doesn't save Starflop.

      Definitely not a huge fan of this trend of AAA games launching broken and needing to be fixed later.
      Honestly, I feel like these companies need to just suck it up and admit that launches like these are just early access. BG3 did that for like 3 years and was able to use that feedback to vastly improve the game in that time so that when it finally launched it was in a much better spot. Imagine if Cyberpunk and the like did that too. Instead of having to have these comeback stories they could just tacitly admit that their game isn't done yet and they need more time, while still getting the boost in funding from early access.
      Now to be fair unless Bethesda is really willing to completely overhaul Starfield I doubt any amount of Early Access would save this game but still my point stands.

    Starfield is and always will be wasted potential. What we are presented in the game makes 0 sense. How a backwater dirt farming planet Freestar Collective making enough ships and robots or whatever to go to war with the dominant faction in the galaxy is beyond me. Also WHY COULD WE NOT BE PLAYING THAT? Picking a side and fighting a war was the basis of Skyrim and it was pretty good as a premise. Having to play sides or bribe your way into systems controlled by an opposing faction could be good fun.
    But no...we get 20 years later during peace time, go fetch some special rocks that arent actually special and just transport you between dimensions where the only that is different is your group of scooby doo friends are all plants and the rest of the galaxy is the exact same.
    The longer they keep Emil writing everything instead of making him the resident spell checker, the more this company dies. The fact they dont use design docs just makes the most sense because nothing flows together in this game. It's all just a bunch of disconnected systems and quest lines stapled together to form an idea of a game and I'm so damn tired of it.
