- Starfield reviewed on PC and Xbox Series X by Dan Stapleton.
It’s never a great sign when someone recommends a game on the grounds that it gets good after more than a dozen hours, but that’s very much the kind of game Starfield is, and I do recommend it. There are a lot of forces working against it, and the combination of disjointed space travel, nonexistent maps, aggravating inventory management, and a slow rollout of essential abilities very nearly did it in. It was the joys piloting a custom spaceship into and out of all sorts of morally ambiguous situations in a rich sci-fi universe that eventually pulled it out of a nosedive. I’m glad that I powered through the early hours, because its interstellar mystery story pays off and, once the ball got rolling, combat on foot and in space gradually became good enough that its momentum carried me into New Game+ after I’d finished the main story after around 60 hours. Like Skryim and Fallout 4 before it, there’s still an immense amount of quality roleplaying quests and interesting NPCs out there, waiting to be stumbled across, and the pull to seek it out is strong. - Ігри
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that Mr. Krabs sold SpongeBob to the Flying Dutchman for 62 cents.
The “Mr. Krabs!!!” Shriek always kills me

NEXT UP, DAVY JONES’S LOCKER!!! HAHAHAHAHA

Sure, but this doesn’t change the fact that in Australia there are 48 million kangaroos and in Uruguay there are 3,457,380 inhabitants. So if the kangaroos decide to invade Uruguay, each Uruguayan will have to fight 14 kangaroos.

Hello 👋🤗
nice
sure, but recent bethesda games dont offer much choice in the way of roleplaying, this one included
A game where you can travel throughout space by not actually traveling.
The loading screens to travel empty planets ON FOOT is just such a damn stupid+boring premise for a game.
"Players dont really care about that" an actual todd howard quote
@@sillyninja65oh no you got to be kidding right ? He really said that 😮
Not going to lie I'd have dropped the game immediately if it was like NMS or elite dangerous. You have to change planets so much it would make it 95% travel. That would be the worst thing they could have done. The way it works is perfect. You have to ask yourself are you one of the very few players who committed to never using fast travel in TES or Fallout? (Also an option here). Everyone says they did. But in reality that makes for a boring game most of the time

In defense of Starfield. The load times isnt all that long. It takes 2 seconds at best.

They promised the stars, and gave us a loading screen.
A 7 is a perfect score for this game since it's from a game studio that no longer has the expectations of greatness it once had. But we all know an IGN 7 is really a 5.
It's baffling to me that in this game of "unparalleled freedom" that was supposedly "made for wanderers", you have to fast travel everywhere. It's their most restrictive game yet in terms of exploration.
Exactly😂😂😂😂. I've been laughing at comments that are saying what I've been knowing was going to be the case for years LOL

Steam rating is 87% It's not "bravery".
7 is fair imo. 8 is too generous. 6 is too harsh. 9 or 10 is just flat out incomprehensible.
@pantherowow77 they did give FFXVI a 90 and that game was a 60 at best so that's a problem.
Ign can't win can they
@SENATORPAIN1 no they can't. Not in today's world. Their reviews except for the purpose of internet let's call it discussion are pretty much irrelevant. This game is a perfect example. It's on gamepass so basically anyone with an Xbox and a functional brain is getting it on gamepass. They are trying it on gamepass and deciding for themselves.
why do people always get so salty about ign ratings? who cares its just an opinion and usually they give out fair opinions. Just because it doesnt jive with your opinion doesnt mean they are wrong about things. They give pretty fair judgement. You just get butt hurt because they dont agree with everything you say which means you are closed minded.
10/10 for Phantom Liberty...
Maybe if y'all watched the video instead of skipping to the 7/10 score, you'd understand where he's coming from?
Yeah ok buddy how about playing it instead listening to this pony fan
I'm excited to play it eventually but it doesn't look like its strong enough to pull me away from BG3
Exactly, anyway let it have a couple patches.
Do you have 4090 lying around? No? Go back to BG3. Unless you want to play Starfield with potato graphics at 24FPS max.

Fast travel: the video game
This old engine makes Starfield feel like a mod. 6/10 game honestly, everything is so mid and lazy. They have not improved since Skyrim in 2011.
First space exploration game where the spaceship has no real use, the destination is the journey, Bethesda seems to have forgotten it and is aiming for the side with Starfield
Guaranteed Bethesda will updates this with a 6gb mini map and inventory management update. FO 4 and fo76 also had inventory issues at launch that were rectified. Might need a little more time in the oven after release which is kind of a shame

Fair criticisms. Looks like a fun game but the fast travel and map issues are a pretty big detractor for me.
So you want to fly 2 months to Mars in real time? c'mon that's not gameplay, it's absurd you would think Bethesda would do that yet they never marketed the game as such.
@@MisterOwlingthat's not what he's saying stop lying 😭💀
@@MisterOwlingDon't gaslight people. There's ways to do this that don't require such length. Elite Dangerous has Supercruise for example.
@@pooply3053 didn't they say 'fast travel is a detractor for me' ? Meaning they don't like fast travel? And that was trending on socials where people had issues with fast travel, instead they wanted to fly there in real time.
@@MisterOwlingSo clearly you're conflating their thoughts with OP's. He didn't say he wanted to travel between planets "in real time".

this is surprisingly a genuine, fair review out of nowhere from the notorious IGN
No. No it is not
7???? this game is rubbish!
Funny how everyone shits on IGN for their terrible reviews but when they give an an actually great game a biased review it fits the sony boys and people who haven’t played it’s narrative. 7 is a terrible hot take and player numbers across steam Xbox and PC overall don’t lie. You are truly a BOT if you think this game is a 7.
More like a 5.5.
6 at most
Played 40 hours really is tbh rounded my score it would be a 7

Loading screens kills it.
Loading screens every time when travelling, when lifting up ship - it's a cutscene, not fpv.
When opening some doors - loading screen.
My question, probably to all reviewers who had review codes and sunk those 60-70 hours in, ready for the embargo lift, is will you still continue to play once released or completed the main story? Despite the NG+, does it have that much life left?
Force Gaming said he will play the game for months/years as he didn't even scratch the surface after playing for 2 weeks. he's done 0 ship building/outposting/trading
@@DeityVengyhasn’t even scratched the surface and skipped a bunch of major features yet is able to definitely give a 7 review 💀

ACG specified in his review that he had already spent 30h in the game after completing the main quest.
This game has some serious outer worlds* vibes.
its because the devs of outer worlds made the first 2 fallout games and New Vegas. The studio Obsidian is like a smaller Bethesda Softworks, with a bigger focus on choice. Bethesda Softworks focus more on scope. The 2 studios have a history of working together as well. So Outerworlds borrows elements of Bethesda games and vice versa.
