  • How to replace PCV valve / diaphragm without valve cover removal, what to watch for and what to use.
If your BMW produces whistle noise from engine bay or has rough idle and stall especially during cold starts, or has fault codes 28A0 or 101F01 among the others, that's what you need to check first. In case PCV valve fix wont work, whole valve cover needs to be replaced.

Apparently you shouldent but the glue / jb weld on the of the circle rim bit as it can glue the pcv valve shut, just put it around the outsides

I've had this occasional whistling noise issue for 2 months. Through the help of your video I successfully replaced mine on my 2014 335i. I tested with a flame 🔥 and it didn't suck it. My check engine light is gone and no more rough idling.

Have the exact same model, half engine power message sometimes, engine power loss (can feel it when accelerating), lots of air noise, rough idle randomly like it’ll shut off but doesn’t. With the code 28A0. By chance did you have that code?

Hi Great Video Sir. excellent important information on the BMW pcv valve system. 100--100 . i have a issue with my 2013 x5 35i n55 ,3.0 litre Turbo.it has 155 thousand kilometers when it popup a code, 28A0. The top pan gasket was leaking a little on the rear (common issue) so i replace New Top Pan/ valve cover with new gasket, and also installed new spark plugs at same time. the leak was fixed, but still it has popped up the code 28A0. I do hear a 'whistle" from the front seal these past 10 months for a few seconds while i start it up in the mornings only (cold) and also when it is about 2--6 degrees temperature outside,it will whistle.During the summer temperature, there is No whistle from the front seal. the question is that,if i replace this front engine seal, will this prevent the 28A0 code From reappearing?? it really is a nuisance as i have to continue to rest it. BTW I was told it may be the MAP or the MAS Sensor ( i do use a ANCEL BM700 Obd reader for my diagnosis) ty for your thoughts and input

Do I need also to cut and remove the material on the sides, down to the joint seam? This would make the new cap fit on snuggly? I just don't want to cut too much material. Ok an edit to this message. I figured out what you did, removed the extra bit of plastic down to the joint. Now I put the cap on snuggly. Did NOT glue it in place. Took the car for a 40 mile drive and it seems to be running much better. The check engine light stayed off the whole time also. The only thing is when I stop sometimes I can hear that squealing noise you talk about. I think this is because I haven't glued/sealed the cap on permanently yet. Right??

    AUC Sensor
    Exterior and Interior HVAC Filters
    Parts supplier: FCP EURO (OE/OEM)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been doing some smoke tests and this is what I found and Fixed.
    Charge pipe leaking: FIXED
    Maf sensor leaking: FIXED
    Map Sensor leaking: FIXED
Superjet pump vacuum line leaking: FIXED
Air box filter gasket leaking: FIXED
    Valve cover gasket leaking: FIXED
    Map Sensor leaking: FIXED
besides that I can't find more vacuum leaks with my smoke teste, I don't see any smoke coming out anywhere.
What else can I do ?
Something also weird is that the EVAP Monitor never gets done.
Car runs perfect , no issues , no bad idle, not knocking (just some times you can feel a small misfire but the RPM does not go crazy.
The light and code triggers when the car is being drive at constantly low RPM (1000rpm-1500rpm) and around speed of 25-35mph.
If avoid those situation I won't get the light but I will get the code sometimes as pending.
I am tired of this code
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Some Live data:
Short trim fuel are usually at 0%
Long term fuel are usually at -2,3%
Short trim sensor 2 is usually at 99.2%
    O2 b1s1 is usually at : 1.4 - 1.5
    O2 b1s2 is usually at : 0.7
Intake manifold pressure after throttle valve: 13.93 psi
Intake pipe vacuum before throttle valve (charging pressure - setpoint value) : 14.65 psi
Intake pipe vacuum before throttle valve: 14.63 psi
    Charge air temperature: 115.7 F
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please let me know what else can I do to diagnostic and fix this code, It is the only code that the car has.
    Thank you so much!

Not necesarily, but your mech. covers his back for warranty. Fair enough.

Thanks for getting back to me. So just changing the pcv valve how is it working up to now. Mechanical want to charge 1100 for do it. I might as well only change that part if it work well

@@kleverAgudoMUSICai what i did works for me and some others but whole cover may need to be replaced as well, try first what i did and then if it won't work replace whole valve cover. In worst case you'll waste $20 or so.

obviously BMW wants you to buy the whole valve cover with associated priceless labor cost... I guess they engineered the plastic cover to go bad around the same time the diaphragm bursts apart.
The days of the 5mn replacement of the $10 PCV with an internal spring are gone.... now we have the 3hours job to replace the 50¢ diaphragm... danke 😂

Thanks I finally got the valve cover yesterday so I took off the old one and put the new one on everything snugged in perfectly and worked perfectly at first it gave me a p0010 code and shut off like twice but I already replaced the camshaft like 2 weeks ago so I knew that wasn’t the problem so I drove on it for like 30 minutes and the code went away and no more check engine 🤪 thanks 🙏🏽
