I agree! The only caveat would be those with immune disease. I have lupus and am diligent with organic, grass fed beef, vegetarian pork, pasture raised chicken, and pasture raised lamb. I tried Butcher Box four months ago and haven't had an out break since. If I didn't have lupus I would would have a problem with costs.

I like how sensible you are about your food items. Dr Berry emphasizes to do the best that you can on your budget. I can afford higher cuts of meat, but not everyone can. I have seen some carnivore youtubers tell you you can't eat lower cuts of meat. I really get upset about that. Eat the best that you can for your diet. I will occasionally use most of the non carnivore products that you talked about at the end. I drink coffee daily. And I also use a lot of spice. As you said, it helps me keep on this lifestyle. First time viewer, and I love the practicality.

I'm a big fan of sirloin steak and shell steak. I also love pre cooked rotisserie chicken. I'll usually eat half the chicken the way it is. Then use the other half to make chicken salad. And I use avocado oil mayonnaise for the chicken salad. My family keeps telling me that dairy fat and red meat is going to clog my arteries. The cardiologist they go to, tells them to stay away from red meat, eggs, and full fat dairy. It's really sad how many people are brainwashed

Will carnivore diet help lung cancer.😢

    • @caesiusgeo
      @caesiusgeo Місяць тому +5

@Julie-w8e I think that would depend heavily on the individual because cancer treatments can make it difficult for a person to eat in general, let alone slamming steaks.
If I had lung cancer, I would personally be drinking broth every chance I get. Not regular broth. I throw a family pack of chicken thighs into my instant pot with 1 box of kitchen basics brand chicken broth (it has 10g protein per serving) and I pressure cook it for 25 minutes. I add things for flavor like ginger and parsley and garlic etc. They have medicinal benefits as well.
I take the meat out, trash the bones and skin and I eat the meat separately or I add it back in with a bag of shredded carrots and whatever else I want in chicken soup.
Bingeing with babish has a great video on beef bone broth.
These broths are inexpensive and heal the gut. I would never say they heal lung cancer. But a person struggling to maintain nutrients would definitely benefit from bone broth

None of these are expensive and can break up the diet but truly i have learned that eating isnt a dramatic thing anymore. I dont spend much time cooking or eating. Cleanup is easy and i have more time to do other things.

Consistency over perfection. What a DELIGHTFUL approach and attitude you have. Your video popped up in my feed, and I was interested, because I have a strict budget, too! It was cool to see your hubs loves Frank's Hot Sauce - it's our favorite, too. We're in Nova Scotia, and didn't know you had Frank's in the good old USA. We have a similar shopping list, though I usually buy goat cheese and parm. Love my cheddar, though, so it's an occasional treat. Thanks for the cream sauce tip. I will definitely be doing that, and soon. :)
Re the eggs. I've been into nutrition for a long time (granny age, haha), and we have a consumer watch dog TV show called Marketplace. They did a program on eggs about 10 years ago, and had them analyzed by a lab. There were just regular eggs (barn/cage raised), "free range", organic, and pasture raised. The pasture raised eggs were higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, but yes, they are super expensive. The free range are no better than regular eggs from a barn, and organic is not a lot better unless they are pastured. That's because they get to eat bugs and greens, and not just grains. So, stick to the least expensive, which is what I do. Or at least until some long-lost relative leaves me a nest egg. As if!
The Sam's Club chicken contains natural flavorings, which have maltodextrin (sugar), and corn flour (more sugar), and actual sugar. This is the reason it's eschewed by most, but like you said, that's not a super big deal in the grand scheme of your entire diet.
As a side note, the flavoured pork rinds may contain MSG and other natural flavours again with the maltodextrin. We also buy the same brand! I only eat the plain because my body doesn't like MSG, but my partner is fine with the flavoured ones.
I hope that was informative without sounding judgey ... because I think you are doing a great job. I just have a lot of information stored in this old brain. And you asked. Subbed because I love your energy, positivity, and want to be around for your 10th anniversary. Take care!

    Mayo is easy to make-
    Avocado oil
    1 egg
    Mustard
    Salt
    Immersion blender until blended.
This is a base and can add other ingredients as desired.
Better and cheaper than store bought

    Wow, great job!!
I have had backyard hens for over 15 years, and pasture raised eggs are equivalent to the eggs that I get at home, with hens that forage and eat grass and treats from my garden. The yolks are bright orange to red/orange, and tastes so much richer. They definitely have more vitamins.
When my girls aren't laying in the winter, and I have to buy eggs, I either buy pasture raised eggs, or if they aren't in my budget, I just get whatever is cheapest. Free range and cage free, are slightly better for the hens, but it's mostly a scam. They only have to have the smallest amount of outdoor space to be called free range. Pasture raised are actually on grass, and you get the health benefits from the eggs. I hope that helps! You both are super impressive!❤

@heatherj3030 Thank you; I was looking for this comment. :) Several years ago, I did an elimination diet to see what foods were impacting my immune system. Sadly, I found that I couldn't eat eggs and be healthy; at least temporarily. I was able to add eggs back in later, but ONLY the yolks and ONLY if pasture-raised. So, eggs are way expensive for me, but I still like to keep them on hand to "fill in the cracks," as the video said.

My girls decided to stop laying already here in Northern IL. But they laid so many in the summer that I ended up being able to freeze some (just cracked one egg in each muffin section of a silicone muffin pan and popped out). I am seriously hoping I don’t have to buy any this winter. But if I do it is always free range eggs.

@ She alludes to it in the video, so I was just kidding. But seriously what I mean is grass fed and finished, pasture raised eggs, chickens, heritage pork, etc. All the things. And you are right it is expensive. But I’ve always bought those products plus all the eating out, delivery, takeout, gas station snacks so even with cooking more for myself I’m still spending less on food than I use to. Congratulations to both of you on your carnivore weight loss journey!
I love how y’all put practicality over perfection. I do the same thing, and have lost 80 pounds this past year (with just 20 more to go until my goal), and my wife has lost over 30 pounds since August. Another “cheap meat” option is hot dogs. While most, like breakfast sausage, have a small amount of added sugar, they will usually include organ meats (nose to tail), which provide additional nutrients that are not in a classic steak. I personally don’t care for the flavor of organ meats, so hot dogs are an inexpensive way to include them in my diet.
Finally, my wife & I go through a lot of bacon & eggs, so you’re spot on there! God bless y’all!

Strict carnivores don't like anything with seasonings (other than salt). So the seasonings and corn flour would be my guess as to what people think is wrong with getting the rotisserie chickens. The natural flavor listing can be a cover for sugars as well. If it works for y'all, that's all that really matters!

The only thing I could think of for why people are controversial about the rotisserie chicken is maybe because that it has “natural flavors”…? I was just watching Dr Ken Beri talk about this, where many times that term is a way for companies to hide ingredients like sugar and other questionable things in the products. This may not be the case with this, but it is a little suspect when you think about it, why can’t they just list what those natural flavors are? 🤷‍♀️ just a thought! I think it’s a good option - great video!

Like others have already said eat what you can afford. As for the chicken it might be the yellow corn flower, and sugar. Some people on carnivore have zero and also don't use any or very little spices. Some just use salt and pepper or just salt. I personally need more than that unless it seem to bother me in someway. I am still not full carnivore either. I am working on it.

And egg salad is pretty easy to figure out too. Sadly, I have not found carnivore friendly potatoes yet. Dr. Berry is a fan of Frank's Hot Sauce, so I wouldn't worry about that sauce so much.
