What do you guys want to know about the New M1 Pro?
Maybe we would like to see after the migration where are files and how does it look like.
I want to learn how to migrate my old iMac to the new MBP via Thunderbolt 3 or TB4. My wife has cancer and we don't use wifi.
@@billytheweasel wifi with cancer has nothing to do with it, what are u talking about? 🥴 Research for ketogenic diet and especially for intermittent fasting, thats how you can save your wife. Cancer feeds on bad diet habits, sugars, carbs, veg oils, grains. Thank me later. ✌
@@ArgentoRAWRz Yep, thanks! EMF can increase the chance of getting cancer. I do know about nutritional ketosis, fasting, L-lysine and broccoli sprouts. Also, I know about bluetooth and wifi and EMF. We don't use wifi and should be able to hardwire/LAN this.

Amazing video. To make ut even better I think you could mention that instead of transferring over network there is also the option for cable transfer by connecting both computers. I believe this second option could even be faster.

Am yet to do that..but please l want if it will remove all the applications completely from the old laptop or l will still still have copy on the old laptop. Because I need the old laptop as well.

Do you have to have monterrey on your old mac or it will transfer from big sur as well? 2. How much data you had and how long it took? Cause I have 2gb data.. And when you opened photoshop and da vinci, they worked just fine? Creative cloud did not make any troubles? Thanks mate!
Thank you Al for the straight to the point video, i just have a question please, just got my new macbook pro, i've been using my old macbook for over 12 years and i am thinking maybe it's better to start new macbook fresh but i am afraid i might need some settings or files from old macbook that i forgot about, so in case something is missing like old passwords or bookmarks how do i restore only the needed files or settings back to the new macbook?

You can make the transfer 20x faster by using a thunderbolt 2 or 3 cable between the macbooks, migration assistant will use the much faster wired connection, ethernet is also faster then wifi, so you have three options for xfer wifi being the slowest

I noticed Library was not selected for transfer. I just did mine tonight and my library was grey’ d out and I couldn’t select library. Does that mean things will be missing on the new Mac?
And what about the “older”? You reset it as factory new one? Just logout from the Apple ID?

My old computer crashed and I'm using target mode to salvage as many files as I can but all my research bookmarks are gone. Also your funny personality made this so much more enjoyable!

I’m having a very hard time trying to migrate everything to my new Mac. The new Mac keeps disconnecting from the old Mac. I even had them tethered with a thunderbolt cable and it still disconnected. Beside Current Connection it said Thunderbolt, then 5 minutes later it suddenly switched to Wi-Fi, then 5 minutes later it said Connection Lost. Any idea what the problem could be?
What if you have a 2013 macbook with thunderbolt 2 and usb-3? Can you migrate with a usb-c to usb-3 cable?

Do they have to be the same OS? e.g. my 2018 MacBook is running Big Sur but I assume my new MacBook I ordered will come with Ventura.
The new M1 Macs have Monterey operation system. My current Macbook has Big Sur. If I migrate from my older Macbook Pro 2013 model to a new Macbook M1 computer, does the old operating system migrate to the new computer or just applications and documents? Thanks!

Have you experienced any issues signing into your AppleID on your new Macbook after the migration? I've had an older 2019 model of Macbook Pro and just recently got my M1 2020 Macbook Pro, migrated my files using wifi option, and then everything seemed to be working fine but I can't sign into my AppleID after multiple attempts even after entering two factor authentication. It just says "Problem verifying your identity. Please try again" - tried multiple times after but no success... any tips? I already tried restarting the device but arrived at the same results..
When I selected the Apps on the transfer and clicked on the Apps Folder to selected certain items to transfer, nothing happened so the new iMac said that it was looking for items to transfer and loading many items while the old computer said it was actually transferring the items. I don't want all of the apps loaded just some so I canceled.

Do both Mac have to be in the same version, for example macOS Big Sur, in order to do the transfer?
I’m having trouble with the transfer. I set up migration assistant on both macs but for 48 hours all I see is discovering my named Mac I have not yet seen the numbers pop up on either Mac. The internet wireless numbers match. The computers are side by side.
How if an apps from old mac not compatible on new mac? Will it's still able to transfer?

I want to transfer from my iMac to a Mac Mine with dual hard drives. One is SSD the other is HHD. Does it give me a choice at some point? My SSD has the Operating system but I want to transfer all of the iMac to the HHD.
