I am waiting for the even next year and will see if i will buy or no. Cuz i have to consider the price as well but i am very much hoping to buy a new Macbook, and it will be my first Macbook ever.
Just purchased a new maxed-out M2 MacBook Air for better then $350 off an hour ago. This will replace a 2017 i7 MacBook Pro I’ve been using daily. I’m excited to see the difference between the Intel silicon and the new Apple-designed chip. Should be a huge jump in performance.
Yesterday i migrated all data from mac m1 to m3 air. It took around 1.5 hrs to transfer 210Gbs of data using peer to peer transfer. I loved that it didn't consume my data & didn't require usb cable to do so. And best part, All the settings, apps, even browser history every thing migrated so accurate which made me surprised. Love apple! They deserve all love.
Next week, I am moving from an iMac 2012 (High Sierra) to a Mac Studio. I REALLY am not looking forward to the process 🤯 The worst part will be to do the authorizations of the third parties as "secondary computer", since I will still do work on my old Mac.
What if you have already initialized the new Mac (with a single Admin account, did not use Migration Assistant) and want to migrate several users from an old Mac over to the new machine? What of the procedure will be different than what you went over?
When programs are transferred am I correct in thinking that you won’t have the silicon optimised version on your new computer? Is it best to just transfer data and download software from source?
I plan to buy a Mac mini and a 14 pro in 2022-Good luck for 500K subscribers Matt-You are so so close!!!! Great information Matt,Very useful.I love your informative and amazing videos-They are very helpful and so simple and easy to understand !!!.I appreciate your efforts Thank you so much-Keep it up!!.
Hi what is wrong when new macbook air does not want to connect to old one. It does see my old macbook pro but does not want to connect on same wifi Thanks
Matt, hoping you may be able to help with this; I have an old 2011 iMac and the internal drive is not used. I boot into an external thunderbolt enclosure with 3 drives (OSX, User and TM). I want to transfer the USER and TM data to a new MacMini that will be connected to it's own thunderbolt enclosure, with 2 hdd; one to hold USER data and one for TM. The internal storage of the Mini is too small to hold all the USER data. With Migration assistant, can I specify which drive the Apps get migrated to and also which drive the USER data gets migrated to? I don't want the TM drive to delete the old backups. Cheers
Will the migration assistant transfer absolutely everything? I have an M1 air and planning on upgrading to the M3 air. I have lots of programs including stuff like Parallels with windows 11.. thinkorswim trading software and gaming stuff like steam and some games. Will migration transfer stuff like that too or is it just the basic stuff? It would be great if it was like Iphone where it's like having a clone of your old phone on your new phone. Thanks for the walkthrough
Hi, Matt I love your videos , I was planning of getting the iPhone 13 Pro since its price will drop after the release of the 14 series , and a MacBook Pro 14 for my studies and programming , BIG RESPECT FROM ETHIOPIA
Does migration assistant allow me to choose only certain apps to go over to the new Mac? I only want to transfer Logic and another small app.. I tried using file transfer but it is being a horse's ass and won't let me transfer despite both computers having the same Catalina OS.
I will be purchasing a new MacBook Pro. My old 2013 MacBook OS Sierra 10.12.6 can not update to any new versions. Will that be a problem migrating the data to my new MacBook? This is a really good video!
Otsukaresamadeshita (Japanese word, meaning, thank you for your effort or work). Keep up with your work, really informative for us! I am a university student. I really want to have a macbook since currently I don’t have any laptop, I am using a university laptop that borrowed by my supervisor. I also wish to upgrade from my iphone 7+.
I'm a long-time Windows users - it would be great to see how to transfer from a Windows machine to an Apple machine. I'd love to get the M2 Macbook Pro next year.
If anyone knows of a video for transferring time machine backup to another computer, please say so Everything I'm finding is about transferring to a "new" computer.
You say nothing about deselecting data on the Time Machine restore screen e.g. I don't want one of the users transfered so i end up with just one user.
I don't need a MacBook right now because I'm just a student so the iPad is enough for my needs. But still if I have some extra money I'll like to build an Apple environment
Excellent video Matt. Exactly what I was looking for. I’m gonna do a clean install of OCLP MacOs Sonoma on my 2015 MBP. I wanted to know how to migrate my existing files from a Time Machine backup, so the second tutorial is spot on! Thanks for all the great work you’re doing. 😃👍🏾
Be aware that the photoshop you bought outright to use on your old mac won't transfer or work on a new Mac. If you don't want to pay for a subscription for occasional use...and CS6 does everything you need, keep that old machine. "You can continue to use CS6 (released in 2012) as long as you keep it on hardware and a macOS that supports it. You can continue running it on your old computer and old macOS as long as they both work. Software and hardware has moved on, and Apple has made changes in their OS and hardware that do not support CS6. Photoshop has been subscription only since 2013."
I want to buy a new iPad pro 2021 or 2022 version and an mackbook pro, but I think I will buy the 2022 ipad pro because of the new chipsets. ,but I can't afford both, so I want to win the giveaway.
Great and very detail video. Your video has given me hope as in the shop when buying my new Mac Pro 14in. The assistant said windows/excel etc wouldn’t transfer over and I would need to buy new software. The migration is still running and so far has taken 12hours 🥱 we will see if everything has been transferred over. I’m doing it from a 2009 Mac Pro, so that might be why it’s taking a while.
Have you or will you be getting a NEW Mac or MacBook Soon?
Well I am hoping to win the giveaway.
i am waiting new MacBook lunch
I am waiting for the even next year and will see if i will buy or no. Cuz i have to consider the price as well but i am very much hoping to buy a new Macbook, and it will be my first Macbook ever.
Hlw Matt!!
Hope to get new MacBook as my old ones battery dead

They deserve all love.
I’ve been on a late 2013 27” iMac. I FINALLY got a M1 Max 16” MacBook Pro. I am so damn excited.
This is super handy , as I’m preparing for the m2 pro mac any day now

Very useful tips thanks a ton
When programs are transferred am I correct in thinking that you won’t have the silicon optimised version on your new computer? Is it best to just transfer data and download software from source?
Thank you! This will be helpful for a new mac i'll hopefully be getting.
I’m trying to save and get a new iPhone 12 or 13mini will it be easy for me to transfer my apps there too
I wish I could practically use this information matt 🥺

Thnx Matt. Is there a way to transfer files from a non apple laptop to a macbook?
Not yet considered buying a mac , but this definitely will be useful in the future !
Planning to buy an iPad Pro this year
Much love from India
Really simple to follow, never hurts to learn some new information everyday!
Will this retain licenses on software and audio plugins? (software from other sources than App Store)
If the iOS is older than the new one and the processor is different does it work?
thank you for the informative video Matt
Hello I tried to do this, but my macs stay several hours in processing and don't start to transfer, this is normal?
Yes matt but sometime next year after getting the iphone 14 pr0
Thank you for the handy guide
Hello i got a question, while is transfering data is normal that old mac resets?
Thanks Matt.

using the timemachine backup should both mac's suppost to be running the same os?
Hey Matt. Why don’t you also recommend setting up a new MacBook from your iCloud Backup? Regards. Theo.
iCloud cannot backup apps and app data. Only documents and folders you select sadly.
I will be purchasing a new MacBook Pro. My old 2013 MacBook OS Sierra 10.12.6 can not update to any new versions. Will that be a problem migrating the data to my new MacBook? This is a really good video!
Informative and easy to follow😊
Matt you're doing a great job, well, I don't have a macbook

Hey Matt
I`d like to buy a new Ipad this year, maybe in christmas time :)
I am way too broke to buy any apple products, which is why I am hoping on winning one from my favorite tech channel!
Mine won’t find eachother for some reason they are connected to same wifi
How much data and how long did it take? I’m waiting on ten hours here
Did it work?
It's easy with 2 laptops but not very many videos going from Mac mini or Mac Studio
I still have a MacBook Pro 2012. Lol. Hope I can upgrade soon cause this thing is getting slooowww. Haha

For some reason my Mac doesn’t detect my other Mac.
That's cool

I don't think ADOBE apps will transfer with the 1st method
Cool
