When You Sleep is my favorite song on this EP. The song construction and musical instinct on it reminds me of early Lush (Emma Anderson) and Cocteau Twins.
Beautiful stuff, almost all the tracks are amazing imo, thanks for uploading the whole EP. There’s something captivating about the simplicity of Field Mice songs and twee/jangle rock, it doesn’t take a lot of commitment to listen to but you get out what you put in. I like plenty of more intricate bands too like say the Cocteau Twins or New Order that have lots of layers to unpack in their songs and benefit re-listening, but I think more stripped down music on the opposite end of the spectrum can be just as amazing if it has heart put in. the title track “Emma’s House” is a fan-favourite for good reason, like a lot of their songs it’s a great mix of uplifting and melancholy sounds and the guitar progression is really sweet and melodic. The bassline also provides a great counterpoint. Robert Wratten deserves some credit for his warm and inviting voice and evocative lyrics too. The guitar in “Fabulous Friend” is really catchy and incapsulates a feeling of a deep friendship or childhood memories to me. Mark Dobson their drummer on later albums adds some welcome variety and really solid beats too, but there’s something charming about the drum machine chugging away here. These guys are a big inspiration to me when I make music :)

Love every second of every song.
