Girl, being 23 finishing your undergrad is so normal. I'm 24 and still working my butt off to get a-levels because I was too sick to get them at the normal age to get them. I'll start a degree at 25, it'll be wild haha
:) Same here... I`ll be 23 when I finally finish my A-levels... but I try not to calculate anymore and to let go. Its so funny now to think back of me being 15 and discussing with my friends to maybe rather not take an exchange year because we would be so old then when graduating 🤣🤣 oh my gosh, I had no idea where life would lead me in the end ...
there is no such thing as 'normal' we are brainwashed and conditioned by the system and capitalism to think we have to reach certain milestones by certain ages, this is how we are kept under control. think for yourself, don't be a sheep. our concept of age is a societal construct. do a degree at 50 if you prefer
It's so comforting to see your comment here as I'm in the same situation - I'm 18 and my illness affects my ability to study so I'm currently ready to take my GCSE exams. It really helps to know you're not alone and that it really doesn't matter how long it takes you to complete your education ❤️
@@siantucker9186I got bad grades in my A-levels because of poor health. I did an access course to get into university and study psychology. I graduated at 24 and then moved to computer science for my master's, graduating at 25. I've since developed interests in maths and physics. Education is a lifelong project, it doesn't matter where you are or when, as long as you don't stop and follow your wonder where ever it leads. All the best. ♥
I had a similar situation, I was ill during the normal period when people do A-level's so won't be heading off to university until I'm 20.I felt a little left behind in life, but there are many people who go to university later or as mature students.As long as you don't give up, you will get to where you want.

happy birthday jade! as someone who graduated my undergrad at 24 and got my first 9-5 at 26, let me tell you, the age comparison feeling instantly disappears when you enter work. i don't feel in any way behind those who are the same age as me, and i really appreciate those extra years that i took to figure things out.
You are a rare soul Jade and you have no idea how many lives you are changing and inspiring through your content. Your positive attitude to life is incredibly infectious and you will go far, even if it may all seem overwhelming and confusing right now. I had multiple years of doing other stuff after high school. I'm now studying my DREAM programme (takes 6 years) and will graduate at the age of 29, with a great education, work experience and lots of life lived! Everyone has their own path, and you're SO young Jade! x
I always sent my mom presents on my birthday. She's the one that went through all the pain and put her life on the line to have me. She's gone now, but I put flowers on her grave on my birthday.

Don’t ever judge yourself on „the age you are supposed to have“! I am 23 just like you are and in my first year of my 6 year medical degree, so I will be 29 when I graduate. To many this may sound „wrong“. However I feel like my path has incredible strengths that others lack. I already have a degree in psychology, and I feel lightyears more confident than I did at the age of 18. So when patients or professors confront me, I feel like I can rightfully and confidently speak my mind and step up. Also I find studying much easier then my 18 year old peers, as I keep thinking „I already have a degree.. this cannot shake me“. So trust me when I say: comparison kills. We are all unique in our life paths, and that my friend, is what sets you apart in the end.

The decision to study medicine was the best decision I’ve made in all of my life. I wake up daily, looking ahead at a days of work/study, thinking „sure this is tough, but my god am I luckiest person in the world?“. So yes please trust me, it is never to late! Never to late to change, never to late to be happy. I wish you the very best in your future!

I’ve just started uni (2nd semester of year 1 is hard mentally so far but we’re getting through it!!) and this has just cheered me up so much. aren't all of us scared and confused in our 20s?? there are so many options in the world! I'll be 25 in summer when I finally get my BA degree and probably 27 when I finish my MA. i sometimes think I'm behind, but then I see what cool things I have done during my studies etc. on the other side, one of my good friends was 23 when she finished her MA and now feels like she's too young to start a "real adult" job (I feel like in Germany, we tend to start a little later into proper career paths) and feels lost in that way. there's no right age!
I watched your videos when I was studying for GCSE’s which was back in 2018 when I was 15-16 and now I’ve just turned 20 a couple of weeks ago, in my first year of uni and I feel so old because I took a gap year just like you did lol. Your outlook on life is so inspiring to me and I’m a physicist so I think about life and everything so deeply because it’s a part of what I do. I have been trying to take inspiration from you and your mindset to enjoy my life more and feel more gratitude because I don’t want my career choice to take the joy out of my life. I feel like every passing moment is so precious and you’ve helped me so much in accepting the way I think and making it a positive experience, so thank you and you deserve all of those amazing friends! I'm also turning 23 this year (2000's baby unite) and it is scary af as I am also wrapping up my degree, but before then I am going on exchange to the UK, doing loads of internships and trying to align the stars myself to have everything sorted for when I graduate. Don't you worry ever again about what society wants you to do at a certain age. I've commented on your birthday vlog every year, now I'm soon 24 and I'm finishing my 3-year undergrad/bachelors this semester as well and am so grateful for being the age I am while doing it. Everyone is different of course, but we have to remember to not rush things in life if it doesn't suit us or if the circumstances make our paths. Take your time Jade and enjoy life and growth in your own tempo! Take care❤

I am 22, turning 23 in august. I’m South African. I am currently on a gap year. I study Chemistry with Chemical Engineering. It is a five year program. I started my undergrad in 2019. I failed and deregistered along the way. Not because I am stupid or anything of the sort. I have been diagnosed with ADHD, major depression and severe anxiety.
It all stems from my childhood. I’m trying to get better. I’ve been hospitalised too.
I don’t have deep connections with anyone. I feel so behind and alone. I should be doing my final year but it seems I’ll be doing my final year in 2028… I’ll be 28. I feel so terrible about myself. My confidence has been extremely affected. I want to make career changes because I don’t think I will be able to take being a 28 year old undergrad.
This made me cry. I don’t have anyone really. People I went to first year with are doing their final year. My acquaintances are working. It is hard.😢

For what it's worth, I'm on the same boat. I completed my high school 2020. Took a Gap year then after studying a year in medical college dropped out from there when I figured it was too much anxiety and pressure especially when it was already so much asking from my parents considering our financial stature.
At this point I really don't know where my life is heading, and really don't expect the future to be much different. I got no friends, and now I don't talk much with my parents. I've made peace with my mediocre life and just hope I can find something worth living for so that I could at least make it to my 30s.

Happy birthday, Jade! Don't worry about being "old". I also went abroad for 1.5 years during my studies (to London, Granada, and Barcelona; means I studied longer). Now I'm working full time and only started at 27 after my master's. The time abroad shaped me so much, it made me to the person I am today and I really don't want to miss any of these experiences, whether good or not so good. Now, after having worked for half a year, I miss the freedom at times. This feeling of freedom might never come back, so enjoy student life as much as you can. ❤❤❤
