  • This video is to show you how simple it is to do complete front break job, with only $120. You can see me using my old (Harbor Freight) torque wrench as the breaker bar, don’t do this. It will damage your expensive tool.

    Thank you very much for sharing this. After watching I was able to do the brakes and rotors on my 2013 Venza. Especially that trick with the 13mm bolt to pull the rotors. Awesome video and thanks again for showing the tools needed and the torque info.

    Thanks for the rear disc removal trick. Some other video had me trying to release the parking brake.

      It is very easy to do so. Both sides can be done in less than one hour.

    Very helpful and complete- thanks!! You are kind funny too there’s three or four things that you said we “should” do but you just decided you’re not going do it! Lol!

    Beautiful. May I suggest to always use a jack stand and eye protection.

    was there another video where you showed how you removed a stuck rusted tire to the hub?

    Can I only change front disk pads ? Garage always wants to change everything but if front is more solicited, can I change only those two ? Evidently rear is ok in my situation. Thanks great vid.

    • @vegasway
      @vegasway  5 років тому

      Serge Sauvé Of course you can, rotors usually last longer than the pads do. But if you experience shudder or shake during hard braking, you might need to resurface or change rotors too.

    Thanks for the video. Dealer wanted $1000 + for front and back. Are the back disc brakes the same job?

    • @vegasway
      @vegasway  7 років тому

      It is the same job for the most part. The difference is that you have parking brake on the back; So the rotor looks a little bit different, and it has the parking brake shoes installed inside. If you are not changing the rotors, then you don’t have to worry about it. Rear brakes should last much longer than the front, since the front ones do most of the braking due to the weight shift.

    good job what tools - sizes do i need?

    • @vegasway
      @vegasway  7 років тому

      artur kurasiewicz You only need basic tools for the job, 12mm socket, 17mm socket, or you can use 12mm and 17mm wrench, but in that case you cannot tighten them to the specific torque. C clamp or similar tool to depress the pistons. And of course 21mm wrench to remove the wheel. You can use a hammer to remove the rotor in the case it is stuck. I think that I mention all of the tools in the video. Don't use torque wrench to remove the wheel like I did in the video, it will damage the torque wrench.

    I heard what you mentioned about the jack stands. But...once had a jack fail while my friend was rotating his tires. Car started to come down with the tire off. We quickly shoved the wheel under the car to prevent the brake disc from hitting the ground.

    • @vegasway
      @vegasway  7 років тому

      boostedmaniac Actually placing the wheel under the car as extra protection is always smart thing to do, it will definitely hold the car. If I have to lay underneath the car, or if I leave it there for longer period of time, I always place the wheel underneath it. I just bought another set of excellent jack stands for $25 at swap meet, that way I am safe. It is also smart to invest in quality jack, which would support much more weight than what you need.

    How'd you snap the rotor back in place tho?

    • @vegasway
      @vegasway  6 років тому +1

      Ray Garrett III There is nothing to snap back, just put it on. It will feel loose when you place it there, but don’t worry. When you install the caliper and the wheel back, that will keep it in the place. The rotor will get stuck over time, because of the heat and rust.

    Have you replaced your struts yet?

    • @vegasway
      @vegasway  5 років тому

      Timothy McLellan No, I sold it last year. Needed a truck. I did record how I replaced AC compressor on Venza, I’ll see if I ever get time to edit it for UA-cam.

      Bojan Nenadic Thanks for getting back to me. I have a ‘14 with 55000miles and need all four replaced. How many miles did yours have on it when you sold it? Any major issues?

    • @vegasway
      @vegasway  5 років тому

      Timothy McLellan It had over 100K, the only thing I replaced was the AC compressor at 65K. I was surprised that the AC went out, but here in Las Vegas I use it April-October constantly. 55K seems too early for the struts in my opinion, but I think I read somewhere that is the common issue with Venzas.
